Yup, Mathew is a chess player right? He likes convoluted tactics and power plays. But all his tactics are based on being smarter than his opponent, and by that virtue being able to predict his actions. So Mathew will overestimate Magnus assuming he is smarter than him.
If that is true or not doesn't matter, Magnus will do something crazy and unpredictable, even if it's just to do something Mathew wouldn't expect.

Hell, if Hale was in that scene where Mathew explained his nuke failsafe, Hale would've shot him immediately.

Hmm, idk... she's technically a dead woman and that makes reproduction hard to explain, even with pseudoscience and fantasy. If she were a male, it might be more believable that a vampire male could impregnate a living werewolf. Hmmm....
