Could I get some recommendations? Anime, manga, books, movies, anything to forget about life for a while. Nothing with romance though.

Anime I'll double up the suggestion on Stein's;Gate - I just finished it and it's awesome. Be patient with it, it takes a few episodes to get into the swing of things. Additionally I'll recommend Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Death Note, Kill la Kill, and Gurren Lagann. All very popular anime, all action- or thriller-based, romance never more than a subplot. A few more recommendations that I haven't gotten around to yet but are meant to be very good are: Space Dandy, Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, Psycho Pass, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. EDIT: Forgot to suggest Black Lagoon. I enjoyed it, though it gets properly dark and twisted as fuck at some points. Books This really depends on your tastes. If you're into fantasy stuff with amazing "secondary world" creation, look no further than Brandon Sanderson. You have to be a bit patient with some of his work, though (not because it's boring or slow-paced, but because the worlds are so rich and full of history that it can take a while before you understand some of the things the characters talk about). Amazing storyteller and lorecrafter. The Mistborn Trilogy, The Way of Kings (what I'm reading currently), and Warbreaker are all on my "favourites" list. I'd recommend other stuff, but to be honest if you don't like Sanderson you won't like most of what I read, and the small portion left are all classics that don't seem to be what you're after. Films Again, very dependent on your tastes. Honestly, the best thing to do is go on imdb, and look at the top-rated lists for different genres. When I feel like watching a properly fantastic film, that's what I do. Otherwise I trawl Netflix idly until something catches my eye.
