Hm. I don't think that's gonna work for me. For one thing, I have an ear infection, and my ear is ringing. By itself, constantly. So me in a room with nothing is still this incessant ringing. I want to tear off my ear. For another thing, I'm constantly anxious. I've never thought about nothing. I dunno if I can empty my mind.

I had anxiety once. It was not fun. Everything was a source of tension even when I knew better. And then I learned I was lactose intolerant and milk can occasionally do that to me. Weird how something so simple can really throw you.

I just put music on, sit in a room, comfortably,
Close my eyes and let everything flow passed me. It's kind of like meditating but I think too much to really meditate but I find twenty minutes doing this refreshes me.

@Mistress Dizzy Whenever I get ear aches I'll put something like a hot water bottle against my ear and that usually helps relieve the pain, I actually tend to use it as a pillow and try and get a nap so that might be an idea

As for relaxing try indulging yourself in something you love, maybe a really nice long shower, or a big cup of your fave hot drink.. http://www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/ has some really sweet little games that can be quite relaxing. Oh, and making a list of goals you want to achieve in the next week, they can be really minor things but there's something about ticking off a job that gives you a nice sense of control over things

I hope I'm not too late to maybe give you an option to relax. I know how you feel, I'm actually diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and have had a few panic attacks (not fun). I honestly find exercise helpful, it makes me focus on one specific thing and I physically work out the tension in my body from being anxious. I find reading to help or sometimes i'll toss a movie in/turn the T.V. on and knit for a while.

If i'm really having a bad day with it i'll take 5-10min to lay down and kind of meditate. I can't turn my brain off either, also with being a girl we don't really have a special 'nothing box/space' to visit. What I do is i'll lay down (if i can in that moment) and have my arms comefortably at my side. I then try to take deep breaths and i mean deep (initial filling, chest inflates, stomach inflates), and focus on feeling the breath in my body. Kinda like imagining yourself as a balloon, felling the air/warmpth fill your arms into your fingers and back out. I just spend the time doing that and it usually helps.
