Rust colored sky meets your eyes as you wake up, not entirely sure what has happened to you, your compatriots or the fleshy creatures you called master and creator.

Welcome to the world of BEWARE THE RUST!
You are an autonomous being, forged in one way or other for war, there are huge holes in your memory and even in your programming, you see others like you rising from the earth, programming that once made you mortal enemies is flawed or missing. you are hungry for powersources and your scanners detect none nearby, what will you do to survive?

"Decade after decade, our human overlords continued their war, using our kind as soldiers to fulfill all battlefield roles and even more. Then there was the flash, the silence... And now we stir from long slumber, this world has changed, many of our brethren gone insane and hunting down anything that moves. Old places must hold the key for our future, maybe even way out of this blasted land! Wont you bend knee for me and help us realize our common dream?" -King 124-

Goals of the RP.
Beware the rust! is as much an journey of characters self discovery as it is of overcoming danger. You are forsaken robots of an war long since ended, but your creators were not heartless, you were programmed with emotions and instincts, strongest of these is right now screaming for you to stay "alive." Make allies within war torn wastes, scavenge power from decrepit military bases, wreck robots gone mad with their revival, maybe even discover the meaning of LOVE! (not perhaps setting appropriate but we will see in time :D)

State of the world!
It has been an year since first pulse of awakenings, an unexplained jolt of energy that jumpstarted many robotic beings who were still mostly intact, having only been shut down and drained of all power by the device. Waking up to find devastated landscapes, young forests of short trees, rivers of rust colored water and massive debris fields caused by fallen low orbit ships and war satellites. There are powersources here for instinct driven robots to find but competition is fierce, many have united in loose gangs to ensure their collective survival, some hunt alone, some are still fighting an imaginary war long since ended. And then there are the beasts, robots that went insane and violent by the pulse, losing all but combat programming, they roam to annihilate without thought or mercy until their powercells run dry. There has been new pulses since the first, happening at seemingly random or by algorithms unimaginable, each pulse creates new gangs, new hunters and worst of all, new beasts. So all in all, it has been hell of an year to those who awakened first, those who have survived till now have dubbed themselves: "Cortex Lords"

Beasts
Designation of robots who went mad with their revival. Once complex circuit minds wiped clean and installed with only one command: "SEARCH AND DESTROY!" These wild creatures are the main antagonists of surviving robots. And unfortunate reminder of the age when robots slaughtered one another by the will of creators.

There was a huge war between humans, you do not remember it and you dont care to remember, all you know that you are awake after an very long time indeed, you need to survive, you need allies, shelter and most of all power.

There are some limitations to creating an character, you can make your robot big indeed but remember, colossus cant scour ruins for power or inject it into themselves if they were to somehow find it. Put your character sheet into this OOC so I may approve and discuss further should we see need in that, and as for questions, ask away! Im not the fastest of typers but lore, GM characters, and general ideas of happenings are being furiously written as we speak.

Pics allowed and even endorsed (not irl pictures thou)

Exact measurements arent required, just if you are shaped as an human would or tank or an building or you get the picture.
I wont accept "world stompers" so try to hold on to reason here :)

Unit history:
What was the purpose of building you and what was your mission during the great war. Remember that your character might not remember all of this themselves.

Memory:
This is what your robot character actually remembers, basis of how they act towards the world, may be only partial and flawed at first but WILL develop with time and discovery.

Equipment:
What do you posses to help you explore and exploit an savage and foreign world

Skills:
Like above but these are embedded within your core installation.

Ranks:
Ranging from A to D, A being the strongest, try to keep it balanced, basic abilities that I will reference if need arises

Roleplaying an machine


Just some headers here if you´ve never done this before, basic assumption in the world of BEWARE THE RUST! is that you HAVE emotions, robots used as proxy soldiers or manufacturers by human forces had extensive programming to make them more approachable, even to have personalities. But after the mysterious blast that seemed to end the war, you might not be so sure anymore. Some parts may be missing and waiting to be recovered during your adventures, maybe your character has no idea of concepts like honor or sharing, or maybe (much likely to the setting) your robot warmachine character has no idea it is indeed built to destroy, thus only doing so when threatened and when some deeply hidden coding takes over, survival instinct to be sure.
Thou it is unknown to these unfortunate robots, everything they lost and even more can be recovered and conquered in BEWARE THE RUST!

Power to compute!


This is an ability power I bestow upon you players that you can use to learn more about the world, places, mechanics and even other robots. Depending on situation this might be influenced by the memory/electronics/wisdom stats. If your deductions are for all to see, you can end your post with something like (EXAMPLE: "I use POWER TO COMPUTE on this damn unpassable door!" and indeed you might find out it is armed with plasma charges or opened with a special key.) This can be done here in OOC obviously and I am not afraid to be intimately involved in my own RP so go ahead and use POWER TO COMPUTE in PM with me if you dont want everyone to see what you discover, be warned however that what you find out trough this ability is true by YOUR computing, your circuit mind might not be after all 100% reliable in the world of BEWARE THE RUST!

Almost forgot to mention main function of this ability. Use this to locate and evaluate powercells, your lifeblood in these blasted lands!

Guidelines for conflict


Basically when fighting against malicious robots you compare combat stats, Higher stat generally means you can defeat the enemy, while lower means you are at disadvantage, Tied scores means you can fight to a standstill with no clear victor. Standstill can however turn into victory by having a solid combat plan, being faster (Being faster also means the opponent can´t catch you if you desire to just flee or avoid it.) or by utilizing your surroundings or special equipment. There are times when I might have to step in with GM ruling but using this section as guidelines you should be able to independently resolve conflict with various threats I post here in OOC. And again, if confused, just PM me, that is another way to handle combat so you can focus writing good IC of your victories :)

Edit:
Forgot to mention. All of this applies to just baddies I throw in your way, should your character explore areas themselves where you write dangers for them to overcome in a single post, naturally you are fully in charge of those things.

Exploration


While I try to fill the world with places to go and things to do, and moving in group gives good chances to RP and security from danger, no one can stop you from going offroad in your search of powersources once in a while if you so choose :D
So go ahead, describe new complexes, factories, maybe even cities that your character finds along the way and fill them with dangers as you will.
(your creations also give me more material to work with.)

As you all can see I am restarting BEWARE THE RUST!!! We will scour these blasted lands together again my friend! New friends are welcome as they post their CS here in OOC for initial approval (I am quite lax about that dont worry). And those who took part in exploration of the last edition I bid you to return with your awesome characters and insightful IC!!

Well I was going to wait for some new activity but I suppose not. Here he is~.



- Name -

Android Project 775*STAR

- Size -
Standing at 5'6", boasting a built-to-last titanium alloy frame and structure, STAR is not easily chipped. Weighs about 260 pounds.

- Unit History -
Android Project 775*STAR began his life in as the first of a string of projects in Europe involving the production of highly advanced military bots, classified as "Project Solar System." The project was highly ambitious, calling for the craft of nine highly manuverable yet tough fighting bot who could effectively be a one-man army. Needless to say, the price of STAR was costly, involving basic functions of a fighting bot his size (martial arts programming, problem solving abilities well above industry standard, speech recognition, etc.), as well as more advanced functions that were still being extensively researched, including antigravity flight at supersonic speeds, wireless charging from anywhere in the world, a cloaking mechanism, and even the ability to teleport. Of course, antigravity and teleportation were only partially completed for STAR, leaving the programming for the functions useless. STAR was soon demoted to a regular military bot as "Project Solar System" was dumped as research shifted to more favorable topics. However, the bot still maintained a couple of functions from his development. It is currently unknown if the European government tried to make other Androids, however it is known that STAR would have probably been the most capable in terms of processing power.

[b]- Memory -[b]
STAR remembers almost nothing from his development phase, as no records were kept and his memory was promptly deleted to keep "Project Solar System" from reaching public ears. He does, however, remember being in the European Military, and knows what he was built for. During his time in the military, he intercepted a ton of intel, most of which is still hidden within his data banks, yet to be accessed.

- Equipment -
STAR carries a small pistol with three clips of ammunition, one already loaded within the weapon.

- Skills -
STAR has retained most of his abilities that he was produced with, including his hand-to-hand combat and advanced problem solving abilities. He also has a few other tricks up his sleeve. One of these tricks is the ability to discharge electricity through his hands. He accomplishes this by borrowing electricity from his power source and either pulsing it through victims through direct hand contact, or firing it as a ball of energy. Discharging the electricity directly is often more powerful than firing it across a long distance. This technique is usually used in short bursts to disable enemies for free attacks, but with enough power, the discharge has the ability to temporarily shut down machines for long periods and kill people. This discharge requires immense amounts of his own battery power, and he can only afford at the most 10 bursts or one long discharge before he would be in danger of powering down.

As a back-up for if his wireless charging should ever go offline, STAR can siphon electricity from power sources by touching a finger from both hands to either ends of the power source. This can also be used to permanently shut down other machines, but to find an exposed battery among bots is incredibly rare, and it is usually a bother to try and locate it.

Charlie and star both accepted! welcome aboard!

As to the matter of activity, we can wait for more people or you can start writing IC right away. The setting is great for that kind of thing, new robots could awaken or wander from the wastes at any time. Freshly awoken robots start of with about an weeks worth of power, stressful activities like combat make it drain faster thou.
