Bad Lands Collective

Population: 700,000

Based on the east coast, they formed a small unified group of city states, small towns and several farming communities to protect their assets and people from harm. Far enough east that their biggest threat has always been mutes, and raiders. In recent years though, The Republic of Mirv has made several attempts to scout or raid the outlying communities, While the Vatican in the past has attempted to purge the Bad Lands which resulted in crushing defeat. The Bad Lands Collective has earned a name for being nearly impossible to erase, though smaller than the other two they have better trained soldiers and defense plans.

The Band lands collective is run by a council of eleven which are selected every two years to run the land. Though often times some members can be voted to stay, it is uncommon to see an entire council make it through two terms. If people are unhappy with a current member they can petition to remove said member and be replaced by another candidate.

At the age of 15, ever male undergoes basic soldiering training, in which they learn how to shoot bows, and how to fight with melee weapons.

Bad Lands Soldier: Sword, bow, occasionally firearm. The soldier is the peace keeper, police officer and street judge. Their duties range far and wide and are often seen as good people. They hold court on the spot though, are kept regulated by strict guidelines and the Just department. Which reads over all court cases. Total amount of soldiers

Bad Lands Ranger: After years of service as a soldier, a member can apply to become a ranger, rangers are put through rigorous survival schools and tests, trained in long range weapons, yearly there are between 1000-1500 candidates, who enter the program and only around 100 make it. After graduation the Rangers are set loose into the wasteland to scout, slow, and gather intel on enemy positions. Considered experts in guerrilla warfare, their main job is to hinder enemy movements, and to carry out special operations. They answer only to the Ranger Commander, and the Council of eleven. Rangers can be gone on missions for months at a time even years.

Other Factions

Raiders
-Multiple random groups, ranging from a single combatent to upwards of sixty members. Highly aggressive and vicious. They have no aligence and fight for blood and plunder.

Cannibals
-Random clans, that forsake the safety of cities, to fufill the taboo urges, they are generally nomad, though some have forts to which they base their nomad groups out of. typical nomad group consists of 20-100 people. Often times they ambush travelers, lure or attack unprotected or weak towns to take children and women hostages. Its a common practice to eat the flesh of their fallen foe to gain the strength and energy from the dead.

Mutes
-People who have been exposed to years of radiation, causing them to turn feral, living in packs, they hunt travelers sometimes hoards can overrun small towns though it doesn’t happen often. Some mutes are multiple people, twins, non-twins, animals. There is still little known about them other than they’re extremely hard to kill and often don’t travel in numbers greater than 20. They have large territories and seem to fight other hoards for control of resources. Some show some basic human qualities but nothing more than primitive tools.

Holy Vatican Empire

Infantry: Vatica Guardsman weapons consist of; crossbows, swords, spears, bows, and occasionally firearms.
Special Forces: Pope’s Guard weapons consist of; Swords, Sub Machine guns, and hand grenades.

Holy Vatican Empire is a religious state, which consist of one city, they’re hostile to all and any non-believers. They believe in purging the wastes of all heretics. Consistently burning witches and executing non-believers they’re seen as un-reasonable and often times kill those who do not wear the massive red cross on their chest. The people work in a feudal society, The city is surrounded by miles of countryside and small towns that have guards posted through out. Any found travlers guides that have been written after the End times, warns of traveling through or around the city.

Republic of Mirv

Capitol: Dead City
Populous: 3,500,000
Infantry: Foot Soldiers, weaponry; pitchforks, spears, axes, and other makeshift weapons
Archers weaponry; Longbows, and knives.
Knights weaponry; swords, short swords, spears.

Republic of Mirv is a totalitarian dictatorship, which seeks to rule over all of American continent, their lands are mostly based on the west coast, spanning from former mexico, to former washington. They control most of the western seaboard, military is somewhat mob like and undisciplined. The lands are ruled through fear, of the knights, and the King of the Republic. They have a slash and burn military destroying all opposed. Their main rivals are the Bad Land collective, and the Holy Vatican Empire.

Mother’s Domain

A rather small territory of land, ruled over by a Matriarch, there is little known information on mother domain, none have returned after venturing to their walled territory in the northern forests. It is known that a questionable amount of highly trained female assassins emerge from these lands. Though none have ever been successfully captured all resorting to suicide or escape imprisonment. What is known is taken from messages that are either delivered by the mentioned assassins or from journals found from deceased travelers.

The Tale of the End

No one can remember how it exactly happened, or why. Weather it was the nuclear weapons, the oil running out, or the economy collapsing. The times that followed were dark, very dark. Power grids went out and billions died, for almost a century people were killing each other just to survive but slowly, humanity returned, and societies began to sprout. Some thrived while others wilted and became corrupt. Kingdoms fell, and kingdoms rose. The Blood ran so deep, that people had to wade through it, had to climb the mountains of bodies to get to where the world was today. An uneasy, ruthless place. Where bands of wandering raiders kill for sport, and greed. People devour one another for sustenance, and new twisted religions. Empires clash, and purge. Monsters caused by man devour the helpless and spread like wildfire. The world is gone, and only apocalyptica survives.

The cities are considered death traps, full of raiders and mutes fighting it out for territory, they’re pretty much left abandoned, and full of loot for the scavengers. They’re considered highly dangerous and best left avoided. The rural areas can be just as dangerous, bandit camps and roving cannibals have a tendency to kidnap travelers and do all sorts of wicked things to them. Its best to travel in numbers, with enough arrows or weapons to hold off any attacks that may occur.

Story Thus Far
It had been quiet for almost two years, and this caused the council of eleven to be uneasy. Something was coming, a storm. They hadn’t heard from either of the other empires in such a long time that people were slowly becoming complacent. Soldiers relaxed, and everyone was generally happier. The Rangers in the field found no trace of The Holy Vatican, or Republic of mirv soldiers. Though no rangers have come back from crossing the mississippi in recent times. Even when outfitted with a precious radio, they’re never heard from again. The Council of Eleven has decided to send a larger party across the River, equipped with weapons and ammo. The Company consist of Rangers, Mercenaries, and other random people. Their journey begins at dawn.

Outside of the Badlands, people are very weary of travlers, or rangers. They’ll try and defend their land or farm with force if provoked.
