I believe that's what made it funny, that it was delivered with such seriousness in the statement. Granted said statement is entirely true, albeit they're halflings, not hobbits - for licensing reasons - but the effect remains the same. But an absolutely glorious statement.

The differences between a halfling and a gnome are so pronounced, you would have to intentionally be that guy to get the two confused. The sad part is, is that I have witnessed this actually happen.
