The Interest Check
Twenty years ago Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, under the name Darth Vader, traveled to the volcanic planet of Mustafar and slaughtered the Separatist leaders that were there. Soon afterward he faced his greatest threat yet. It wasn't a swarm of battle droids or a well trained Mandolorian, but his former master, Obi-wan Kenobi. It was a fierce battle and his former master fought well, but in the end Darth Vader was victorious. He returned with his wife to Corruscant where he took his place at the Emperor's side.
Those that were still loyal to the Republic were at a loss as to how to proceed. If Vader was too powerful for even a Jedi master, how could they stand against him? Eventually, they made the only choice they felt they had. With the help of a Bothan slicer, they broadcast all of the evidence they had against the Emperor and his new apprentice. Within hours the entire Empire knew that the Emperor had controlled both sides in the war against the Separatists, as well as the attack on Naboo ten years earlier. The people saw first hand the slaughter of the younglings at the Jedi temple and the slaughter of the Separatist leaders on Mustafar.
Civil unrest rocked the empire, and the clone troops were forced to fire on the people thet once protected as they rioted. The Republic Loyalists, however, knew that soon the Empire would use its military might to crush any resistance, so they acted quickly. They secretly negotiated with the former Separatists, the Hutts, the Mandolorians, and even some unaffiliated groups to form an alliance to take down the Empire. Many worlds flocked to their side and civil war began.
Yoda, as well as any surviving Jedi that could be located, began to rebuild the order, though not in the tranquil style it had followed for the last millenia. The new order would be warriors as well, as they were during the Sith wars. They rebuilt the ancient temple on Dantooine and began training more Jedi.
A young man arrived there on a recent transport, hailing from Tatooine. Luke Aladima, as he calls himself, is unusually talented in the ways of the force and has great strength in it. Upon completing his initial testing and being accepted in the ways of the Jedi, he was sent along with a group of other warriors to protect a ship carrying Bail Organa. The ship is on an important mission, though no one knows what that is.
We are defending (or attacking) the Correllian Corvette which, unknown to us, is bringing the stolen Death Star plans to the hidden Rebel base on Hoth. The Empire, however, caught us while in orbit of Tatooine and is towing us in with a tractor beam.
