Maxwell is a Miraluka, who are a near-human race who were said to be born from the stars and cursed without eyes and instead have used mysticism to allow them to see the world in their own unique way. How they are able to use farsight without a sightstone is a mystery but it is known that everyone of the Miraluka are capable of at least the most basic form of Far-Seeing as it is their only way of looking in the world. Using mysticism in nearly every moment of their day, the Miraluka have refined and developed a way of 'seeing' the essence of magic. Allowing them to see how they are formed allowing them to weave spells of magic with unique effects on the physical world. Their civilization was a trading kingdom who traded magical ingredients and was a place that was filled with magical energy as many experiments were carried out in their land. They were the historians and record-keepers of magic being able to see magic, they recorded many forms of magic that have been lost but recorded in case the resurface such as Runic Magic, foreign magic such as Planar magic and the many variations of Occult magic.
It was rumored that the Miraluka people produced their seemingly endless amount of magical essence from a still buring star deep underground suspended in time by the use of an highly advance use of an magic-weave that stopped time. With this energy produced by this star, they ran many experiments and projects about magic into the past, viewing the events of the events that already have happened and recorded them in their many scrolls. While they denied it, the Miraluka have been said to be Mana Addicts as they are always constantly having a magical energy that didn't mind in their kingdom in amounts that are considered overwhelming to other people not use to it. Despite this, the Kingdom of the Miraluka was a popular place for people of all kinds as they sold many things ranging from enhanced Alchemical ingredients to magical trinkets for travelers. Their kingdom was also declared as a neutral standing to all conflict and refused to become a part in any war rather becoming the center of one if it must. They Miraluka's magical defense was beyond its age, creating a near impenetrable magical barrier that covered their entire kingdom. Their magical weaponry was also quite advance, but they never used it to its full potential as they created The Tree of Yggdrasil, an disturbing large tree that grew around their castle that was in the center of their kingdom. Making the tree loom over the entire kingdom, while it was still protected under the magical barriers. The tree was said to be able to shoot beams of light into the starry night sky, separating the clouds above the kingdom and collecting into a singularity before bursting in a shining bright light that shot out sharp crystals of light. It was only a small percentage of the tree's power but the warring kingdoms knew not to mess with the Kingdom after that and the Tree was then now a place for sightseeing but its was said it was always active, waiting in case anything happened.
This however was strange as one day, all the travelers that were coming to the Kingdom of the Miraluka were all ushered out with violence if it was necessary and closed its gates to everyone. Later in the day people outside of the Kingdom could see the Tree of Yggdrasil blooming golden figs that radiate warming light that fell into the kingdom. But still its gates remain closed and many of the travelers left leaving the kingdom up to what ever it was doing. However, the next day the kingdom was picked up and gone with no signs of destruction with the expection of the earth underneath the kingdom taken along with it. It was confirmed that all those who used Sightstones said that their medium was glowing in bright purple, crimson and violet light all night and any attempts to scry ended in painful feedback. Rumors in the mysticism and occult circles of magic said that the gods punished the Miraluka for creating a tree that produce something similar to what the creator Impes was able to done when he created the gods. They were saying that the Figs were able to bend reality depending on what the person wished when they ate the Fig whether they said it out loud or was inside their mind. This event happened several hundred years ago disappearing during Primus early years as the great wizard.
Only recently have reports of the Miraluka appeared in various locations around the world, some stripped of their magical ability to see and insane from the lack of something feeding their magical hunger. While others having their magical abilities present but were famished without something to feed their addiction making them weak. It seems what legacy of the Miraluka left remained back in the kingdom from all those many centuries ago in their golden age, as now the Miraluka are now just addicts who fail to preform the simplest of task without their 'fix'.

Backstory:
Maxwell during his time in the Kingdom was a Historian of some renown and was one of predecessor to the throne of the Miraluka's throne if anything happened to the first 3 predecessors. While not interested in the throne he would fill the position if needed, his true work was the research of magic from the days of old and was able to use the Miraluka's Star as his medium to focus into the events that happened in the past to observe what happened. He observed recorded events and corrected them along with observing foreign magic that were now not common in the current time, recorded them as well. He was an avid user of their race's Spell-Weaving abilities being able to form complex formations by himself and was known to be the few of the Miralukas to be able to use words of power thanks to his Historical and Mysticism experience. He was perhaps the Miraluka who understood the Words of Power the most as he deciphered the ancient words with the languages through the ages and it only matched with a few in several key spots. All those spots were located in religious text and under more investigating he discovered the meaning of these Words and that these Words of Power were sentient and if the user knew what they were, they were able to change how people perceived them. After his discovery his use of the Words of Power have always been heard in his most commonly used language.
His success was short as war threaten the kingdom of the Miraluka and Maxwell was placed as a researcher for the good of the kingdom to protect it at all cost. Barriers were placed by them who were experienced with the weave and protected the kingdom with their complex work of art, with the shield up research was put into something that could defend the kingdom as their magic have no real true way of dealing massive damage to such large amount of enemies. So research went into the Tree of Yggdrasil, a mystical tree said to appear in various ages and it was confirmed with multiple visions of a giant tree blooming golden fruit in the previous ages of history. Trying to create their own Tree of Yggdrasil, they used their eternal burning star as a medium to supply magical energy to their tree and it was a success. They were able to synthesize a 'holy' tree with the use of their spell-weaving, manipulating the tree and trapping the magical energy in it continuously the tree became what it wanted. After its creation the tree was taken from their hands and was placed with the military branch, in a cry of out rage Maxwell and the other Miraluka researched demanded the Tree to be in their property and jurisdiction but were ignored. After the Tree was taken out of their hands, by the order of their king the researchers and Maxwell were told to forget what they created and resume their every day lives.
After an repeated and abusive display of power from the Tree of Yggdrasil, Maxwell knew that something bad was going to happen when it took boom and figs were created. He instantly reported the event and cautioned on waiting for them to dissolve into magical essence but they again ignore his request and took the figs before trying to turn them into eternal sources of power again. Leaving the castle, Maxwell was nervous but hoped for the best and he went on and when dusk came and sleep was near, he closed his eyes naively not realizing what was to come. That night perhaps by divine judgement the kingdom was whisked away for defiling a holy artifact such as the golden figs and for artificially creating a holy artifact. But memories of what happened in that bright blinding emptiness was non-existent and when he woke up from that bright light, he was alone in the woods with tattered clothing that he went to sleep in. Then it hit him, the strange wanting of something that grew and grew. He was afraid of what had happened and quickly fixed his clothing with magic before asking what had happened to the Kingdom of the Miraluka.
After repeated attempts and research in available history books, it dawned on him that their kingdom was gone and most likely destroyed leaving few of what remained of them alone with cravings for magic at all cost. In an attempt to appease him craving he preformed odd jobs and a wizard, making money quickly before setting himself up in a tiny shop which sold alchemical supplies and preformed jobs if requested. Using his money and trying to do so rationally, which was difficult Maxwell created a substitute of solidified Mana that could be consumed but side-effects included nausea, throwing up, and migraines. It was a difficult life and his nice appearance deteriorated as he tried to improve his supplements of mana to replace the feeling of the Kingdom's Star which produced mana in such pure quality and wondrous amount. Soon however, he was able to produce a replacement sufficient enough to stop his craving for a short while with no side-effects with the exception of slight dizziness. Besides that, the potion of liquid magical essence worked and was easily created with little work but wouldn't sell in his shop unless he had Miraluka customers which was a near impossible.
However soon, he discovered his magical abilities have weakened after losing the Kingdom's Star which empowered them and made them powerful mages inside their protected kingdom. Yet, his magical abilities remained but in a lessor version and would require training to get them back to where they were before which may be impossible for him. It also seems like he didn't age as fast anymore, as he after getting started with his shop has been 5 years and had seemed little change in his appearance. Concerned he went to the Tower of the New Great Mage, knowing that the previous owner Primus was a friendly acquaintance with their kingdom before, but he was uncertain about the new owner. Besides that, Maxwell was searching for answers to why and what happened to his kingdom if the Great Mage could ever find out.

Maxwell is a helpful soul but shys often from social contact and has a difficult time making strong bonds of friendship until its a bit too late. He has a habit to sticking to himself as well and work on projects that people don't know what its purpose is for. His shy nature also makes it hard for him to speak to people but if you are interesting enough or likes you he can hold up a decent conversation. While on the other hand hates speaking to strangers and people who generally are more confident in themselves. Magic School and Skill
Maxwell after his uncertain amount of time in suspended space, has left his condition of Mana Addiction left untreated and weakened his magical prowess. Without the Star of the Miralukas' his magic is even more weaker without the Star to empower it just like the tower amplifies the Prince's magic abilities. In recent years, Maxwell has refined his substitute for his Mana Addiction and lessened the effects of his withdrawal but his body still wants more that what he can create.
Far-Seeing - The Miraluka are capable of using the most basic form of Far-Seeing at it's their only way of seeing. While others may not train in this area, Maxwell uses Mysticism for its ability for Far-sight and specializes in it, being a Master of that one particular skillset of Mysticism. The rest of the branch of Mysticism is locked until he tries to train in those areas.
Spell-Weaving - An obscure branch of magic used only by the Miraluka thanks to their ability to see the essence of magic, are able to weave spells of different branches without much experience in them. Skilled users of the Magic Sight by the Miraluka such as Maxwell are able to use this branch of magic effectively. Being able to see the magical essence in the air, he can collect them and thinly weave them into special circles of magical power in front of him. These magical circles can be combine to increase in potency and can hypothetically be re-layered in a near infinite amount. These circles are a advance form of Alteration Magic that can be used on a large area or on a small concentrated area. Most common uses of Spell-Weaving are in barriers, as they can stack magical circles to increase potency and complexity in them and if enough effort is put in them, these magically weaved barriers are near indestructible.
Alchemy - Maxwell after appearing from nothingness after the disappearance of his kingdom learned the art of alchemy as a substitute for his weakened magic. Learning a fair amount about the subject and being able to create common potions and elixirs easily, while more advance potions with some time and focus. His main reason why he presumed the art of Alchemy was to create a subsituite to his Mana Addiction and in the process learned a little bit more than what he was expecting. In all cases, Maxwell has a basic skill in Alchemy and wouldn't have much problem of locating basic and uncommon alchemic ingredients from what he remembers of back then. However familiar routine always holds him back from learning anything new after memorizing everything from memory.
Perhaps a side-effect for using Farsight so often, the Miraluka have developed a special ability to be able to see the flow of magical essence that is used for all branches of magic. Like all Miraluka, Maxwell also has developed the ability to see magical essence from all kind of spells and knows when they are being created. Being able to see the residue from magical spells in battles that could have been taken hours or even days ago. In rare cases, remains of magic from ancient battlefields are still lingering for him to investigate of the spells used back then.
The last form of the Miraluka's ability to see magical essence in spell usage is the ability to do the opposite of what mages what do. Only the most talented and dedicated people of this race are able to do this as they are able to see the product of what mages produce, then if given time could easily disassemble spells casted by the mage. This is only possible if they see the whole process of the spell, up to every component.
After decades of magical research and prolong visions of the past, the Miraluka have refined their ability of Spell-Weaving and their Mysticism and unearthed a forgotten branch of magic known as Word of Power. These words of power are similar to Spell-Weaving as they manipulate the world but on a grander scale being able to cast spells of devastating power. These Words of Power appear as a single symbol most often when used before it preforms its intended effect. Two Words of Power appearing at the same time is enough to knock the mage out who are using this form of magic as each word increases the potency and draining of power. Three words will kill the mage unless with extreme amount of magical energy stored, and the only reason why Maxwell is able to use two at most is thanks to his constant use of Farsight.
Alchemy - Maxwell after appearing from nothingness after the disappearance of his kingdom learned the art of alchemy as a substitute for his weakened magic. Learning a fair amount about the subject and being able to create common potions and elixirs easily, while more advance potions with some time and focus.
