West 'The Spine' Second
Costume:
This mask plus the white coat make up his costume when he's on the job.
Ability: Bone Manipulation - West has the ability to control the bones within his body at will, changing everything about them from the shape of them to how hard they are. This ability has its limitations, he can't make any of the bones in his body much larger than they normally would be, and they normally need to pierce through his skin in order to do damage to others, but otherwise he is able to create numerous weapons including blades that protrude from his wrists and even firing small shards of hardened bone fragments from his fingertips that hit as hard as bullets.
Coupled with this ability, West has a very slight regenerative property. Small wounds, like cuts and scraped heal quicker than than of most humans, including the holes from which his weapons emerge. However, the ultimate flaw in West's ability is the pain. Forcing the bone from his skin hurts, and while he has trained himself to fight through the pain and continue using his ability, it has a limit and eventually he will keel over from over-usage of his power.
Personality: West is stronger than a lot, both mentally and physically. Years on the street have taught him how to spot weaknesses in others, how to pressure certain points to emotionally cripple others. He is cocky and acts like he is invincible, well aware of his strength even without the use of his abilities, but often lets the persona he's created for The Spine absorb him. He has a barrier built around him in the form of The Spine, something he uses to justify the bad he does whilst a part of him still exists that wishes to change. Despite this fact, he believes he doesn't have that luxury and that he doesn't deserve to be happy after what he's done, so he continues to recede into the arrogant and powerful persona of The Spine. He is also prone to flashes of anger, something he cannot control and one of his deepest shames.
Bio: West comes from as bad a background as is humanely possible. He was an unplanned child, and was reminded of this fact nearly every day by his parents if they were lucid enough to notice his presence. They both did drugs, West was never quite sure which ones, but he knew that they were expensive enough to mean there wasn't always enough money for simple things like food. At the age of ten, West stopped attending school in favour of thieving. He had already begun to develop his powers and would skewer small items on bone spikes and retract them into his sleeves in order to steal them unnoticed.
Not too long later, he was approached by a small group of teenage boys with powers like his and he left home to be with them. They called themselves The Lost Boys, and were led by a boy who could fly and shoot arrow shaped bolts of light from his forehead who called himself Pan, modelling himself off the fairy tale character. At first, they were nothing but nuisances, using their powers to pester and annoy, occasionally taking things in order to survive, but it was all about the fun they were having rather than the crimes they were committing. But, as the children grew older, Pan started to see the potential for true villainy amidst the boys and started larger schemes, targeting banks or armed cars and taking whatever they could.
West stayed with The Lost Boys for years, the things they made him do gradually grew worse and worse, ranging from destroying homes to torturing people with information Pan desired. The hit-and-run nature of their crimes made it hard for them to be caught. Eventually, West began to enjoy what they did and was considered to be one of the primary members of the already spreading group of criminals, both powered and not. But, as with all good things, it wasn't to last. West was tasked with selling some illegal substances that Pan had secured slaughtering a rival gang's safehouse. As things would turn out, the buyers were West's parents and all of a sudden West was overwhelmed by a rage he had never felt before. The police were already tailing him, unknown to West at the time, and he was caught on camera lashing out at his parents with a sickle of bone that erupted from the palm of his hand. His parents survived the attack and West was detained by a task force of heroes.
