[OOC] Equivalent exchange

Alchemy is a powerful science, and those who practice it can do great things... as well as commit terrible atrocities. The military of Amestris has hired certified state alchemists for many years, allowing them to research into their chosen field, as long as they are willing to provide the military with their findings and do further work if asked. It is just this that happened during the Ishvalan war of extermination, after the Fuhrer signed the order to virtually turn them into living weapons, using their alchemy to kill hundreds of Ishvalans, innocent or otherwise. After the ar many alchemists regretted their actions, and many people no longer trusted them for the atrocities they had committed. But, for some their work is not done. It is a mere 3 years since the end of the Ishvalan war of extermination and now it appears a small cell of terrorists is attempting to start another war in the east of Amestris. In order to put it down quickly and quietly the Military has decided to create a small, and somewhat unorthodox group, completely composed of powerful state alchemists. Only time will tell if they can defeat the cell before their plans come to fruition... or if they can even discover the truth within the truth

This is a Fullmetal Alchemist RP, about (obviously) a group of state alchemists assigned to destroy an ishvalan terrorist cell as quickly and quietly as possible, though... the surface is rarely all there is to any situation

1. No OOC drama, keep it off the public forum
2. RP guild rules apply to any romance, you know the drill
3. Do not argue with the GM, it slows shit down and gets on peoples nerves

Awesome! I'll start writing a character. I haven't actually done must combat rping here on the forum yet tbh, because every one I try to join the dm disappears- But I have a lot of experience in post by post (shorter than forum but far faster response times) and in in person tabletop rpgs. Also, I've watched FMA Brotherhood like three times so I am very excited.

Backstory:

Elizabeth's past is a hazy and bloody spot on the pages of Amestris military registry, all that's know about her is that she joined the army under a special invitation from the Füher, as a medical officer tasked with a secret research, sometime before the Ishval War broke out.

The nature of her research was extremely secretive and it was said that she was the head of one of the most feared concentration camps during the conflict. Countless lives where sacrificed in her sinister research, whose purposed was the creation of that which all alchemist seek, The Philosopher's Stone.

After the end of the war she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant colonel and given head of one of the states secret laboratories in order to continue her research, after Tim Marcoh went AWOL.

Specialty:

Blood Alchemy, which can be used a variety of ways, including:
- Healing, which was her original expertise;
- Halt the aging process of her body, which requires a constant supply of fresh blood, earning her the nickname "Amestrian Vampire";
- Combat, with her signature move, the "Bloody Rose Transmutation", where she causes the iron and oxygen on her victims blood to react violently and burst their blood vessels, popping out of their skin in the characteristic shape of roses made from coagulated blood.

Others:

Secretly, she's a bat-based Chimera, one of the first to ever be produced, since she offered her body willingly to help on the research she had been conducting for years alongside other genius bioalchemists like Shou Tucker and Tim Marcoh.

Also, she's an expert knife fighter and shouldn't be underestimated even when she is unable to make use of her alchemy, since her extensive knowledge of the human body's inner workings and cold blooded sadism means that she knows exactly how to inflict the maximum amount of suffering with each slash.

If I didn't know how electricity works well enough I would have been tempted, but it's not really possible from any feasible standpoint to do FMA alchemy with electricity by manipulating electrons and such. To get a lightning bolt in an inch of air you need 50,000 volts to travel the gap. And that's for every inch! Without coils on hand to make a transformer and such alchemy can't really solve that issue. I think I might go with some kind of metal, Carbon, or just gotta think more.

I've been waiting for a FMA rp for so long, so glad this is a thing.

I've made this CS a while ago, but never got to use him. I've changed some things to fit your CS, but if you find something wrong with it, please tell me.

Backstory: Ever since William was a boy his interest in Alchemy always lead him into trouble. Practising the art whenever he saw fit, and usually having little to no regard for the consequences. By the age of 14 William thought he knew everything there was to know about alchemy and decided to learn alkahestry, thinking they were along the same lines. He mustered up some money and took a long and unforgettable trip to Xing, where he went to tons of different libraries cross referencing everything he learned. It was to his misfortune when he accidentally stumbled upon a sacred families secret. Descendants of the aforementioned family abducted him off the street a few days later and preformed unauthorized and unprofessional surgery on him. During the abduction they removed his vocal cords, this was a symbolic way of saying don't speak a word of the family's secret. Luckily for William, doctors at the nearest hospital used alkahestry and medical sciences to save his life, and prevent him from bleeding out. The doctors told William that he would probably never speak again. William had to find an alternative way to communicate with people, he started to use a small, clipboard sized chalkboard to write out what he wants to say.

William came back to Amestris a changed man. William was no longer filled with excitement and curiosity, instead, depression and cynicism. Every where he went, he felt like he could trust no one. He'd thought a lot about that day in Xing, and everyday he wonders why he couldn't defend himself. William knows so much about alchemy, yet, he still managed to get abducted. William came to the conclusion that he needed to get stronger, but self motivation wasn't enough to do that, he also needed resources. He needed more knowledge. This is where he decided to become a state alchemist.

He became a state alchemist a few months after the Ishvalan war had ended, he thought there would be a lack of soldiers after the war, and it would be a good chance to join.

Specialty: Liquefaction - William uses alchemy to create quicksand using the ground, thus his name 'The Trapping Alchemist'. William must preform a chain like reaction to create this quicksand. First, he uses his alchemy to deconstruct the earth in a targeted area and destroy it into millions of pieces of sand. William then uses his alchemy to create water from exchanging the material around the sand (wood, concrete, dirt etc.). The third step in his form of alchemy is to saturate the freshly made sand with the water he transmuted, giving him quicksand. William was the first person to create and use this type of alchemy, William used this alchemy during the practical part of his state alchemist exam. He preforms his alchemy with a small chalkboard that he carries around, this chalkboard is the same one he uses to communicate with.

But, I'd rather rp as a mute for a while. Because I feel like my character would seriously consider it, I'd appreciate it if you didn't offer my character right away. If offered later in the Rp (possibly after a few big events/bonding moments, just to establish a stable character IC), this could be a vital point for character development and/or relationship development. If this were to actually happen, I wouldn't want too rush it ya know?

Gotcha, I wouldn't do that right away, anyway. Elizabeth isn't a samaritan, after all and obviously would only do that to experiment on the body of someone that catches her interest. Nevertheless, to do that transmutation she would require a philosopher's stone, so if she doesn't have one at the start , she'll have to make one during the RP by sacrificing some of the terrorists (probably).

Backstory:

Carine lived a normal life, Alchemy books surrounding her for company more often then not since her parents were a part of the Military and were noramlly away. They'd always offer stories of their adventures when they'd rerurn as an apology, that would only make her dream of joining so she could stand side by side with them grow with each one that was told. She never really got to tell them she'd be joining them, since just after her eighteenth birthday two escorts came and herded them away, she never saw her parents after that. Having already practiced a bit as a kid -creating wooden animals or whatever she'd wanted within a transmutation circle- she began to practice in serious after finding her childhood books once more, she practiced until she could easily do it with a clap of her hands instead of relying on transmutation circles. She joined five months after the war had ended.

Specialty:

Carine has a unique ability to control shadows, with a clap of her hands she can either use her own shadow as an offensive attacker or use it as defense. However that's all she can enlarge it's size and shape its hands or feet into weapons if needed and with practice she's learned she can freely move around while her shadow does whatever it needs to. She's still learning if she can possibly add more shadows to her own but that takes time and she's a quick study so she's not worried.

Charles is a man of average build whose whole face and arms are covered in bandages. He is normally wearing the uniform of an state alchemist.

Backstory:
Born in east city, Charles was the son of an enthusiastic but ultimately talent less alchemist. His father was researching in the field of acids without any real progress. That changed when Charles came of age and began to study alchemy and help his father in his research. He was much more intelligent and had a much better understanding of alchemy and just like that he created the alchemist formula to create acids. However his first test went wrong, permanently damaging the skin on his face and arms.
He wasn't going to stop however and two years later after better research and training he used his brand of alchemy to become a state alchemist.

When the civil war started Charles was send to Ishbal as a human weapon. He was a good soldier, killing who he was ordered to and created piles of corroded houses and streets. The Ishvalen who fought him were dissolved before the eyes of their brothers and friends. There was no night in which Charles didn't had nightmares about Ishbal, but he still would do it again.

Specialty:
His specialty are acids. He always has two things with him. His ring with his transmutation circle, as well as several small canister on his belt. In each canister are two substances he uses when the situation requires them. Flour, Chloride and the canisters itself have a Antimony alloy. Normally he uses the nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen in the air to create nitric acid. However he can also use the cannisters to create fluoroantimonic acid the most corrosive acid known to man.
Charles is also a capable fighter in hand-to-hand combat.

@Arista fine except... I'm worried about the alchemy part, I'm not completely sure what science or matter there is for an alchemist to manipulate in a shadow... its not magic after all

@agentmanatee Thanks! I think it is pretty important since all alchemists abilities where pretty scientific.
And I have to admit I am no big fan of the shadow manipulation either, considering only pride had such an ability and he was a homunculus.

No, you got me wrong, I wasn't asking to be a philosopher's stone, but to have one, like the one Dr. Marcoh carries around.

OK, but can I do one IC some time? My character is supposed to have been working on the research, after all. And they really didn't stopped making them, or else things like the living armors and the perfect chimeras wouldn't exist. Father's plan depends on that, after all. Though I admit that Elizabeth might need to find a header or two before finishing the process, but she should be able to do it sometime.
