Lucifer, in the brief time he had been here, had already reached a stark conclusion: he was going to hate it here. The random arbitrary 'tests', the lack of brotherhood, those two insufferable girls... they all pointed to him having a bad time. The worst part was, this was merely day one. How much more of this madness would he have to endure?
Presumably, a lot of it. And because he was a cute charming casanova-minor, as opposed to, say, a mentally masochistic pushover, he was going to end up putting up with it. Oh well - he had his knife and he had his wits, and that was all any assassin needed. Well, the advanced training and extensive ring of contacts helped.
And so, with apprehension in his heart and a slightly sore bottom, Luci began the walk back to his room. He felt quite drained by today's events, which was ludicrous because he had done a grand total of bugger all. If that was the effect of this place after one day, god himself could only guess as to what it would be like after a month. Or a year.
He was about halfway there when he caught a glimpse of something in the hall. It was subtle but if you looked at it from the right angle you could see light reflecting off strands of string. Luci got as close as he deemed safe to the wire, unsure what to make of it. Was this another test or had some wayward student set it up? He presumed the latter, but after the Great Furry Coup, he had his doubts whoever ran this place was entirely within his boundaries of 'logical'.
What the device did was beyond him. It looked like a bit of cheese wire. Maybe it was cheese wire. He wouldn't put it past him. Looking further down the corridor, he could see a few more pieces of wire spread out like traps. Whoever planted these was clearly planning on catching someone with them.
Lucifer was about to just siddle past it, but he was curious. What was this thing? If it was cheese wire, it wouldn't hurt if he just touched it slightly. Heck, maybe it was a spider's web and he was just being paranoid.
So what did he do? He reached out and brushed his finger against it. He had just come to realise that, no, it was not cheese wire when he very suddenly started seeing things upside down. Apparently it was some kind of leg-noose trap. That would have been good to know before he decided to set it off.
But unlike the other trapped girls - of whom he had no knowledge - he had one advantage they sorely lacked. His knife was a kitten's whisker away from his hand, so he was more than capable of freeing himself.
But he didn't. For reasons only known to him, he allowed himself to hang suspended for a few moments. Perhaps he just needed a break from reality for a moment, or maybe he was pretending to be a bat. He had to admit, hanging upside down was a good way to view the world. He could fall asleep like this, if there wasn't the risk of blood clotting in his brain. Maybe he could stay here forever. On the other hand, he couldn't really do much up here and if Alexandra or Mysterious Japanese Girl saw him up here, all trussed up and helpless... there were some unfortunate implications.
After his little bit of 'me time', Luci slid his dagger between the his foot and the string, cutting himself free in graceful slice. He hit the ground almost noiselessly, before scrabbling to his feet and dusting himself off. Whover had set these down must have been extremely careful. If they were his, he'd probably get caught every time he laid one down.
He made it back without further incedent. He didn't notice the new bag, nor did he care. Instead, he was more interested in his bed - and how he could get changed into suitable nightclothes without risking Alexandra ogling him.
