Mushroom Inn(interest check/ Planning)

So I have noticed a distinct lack of Inn RPs as of recently and wondered if maybe I should make one

I don't really have much planned for it but I also wondered what people would think if I allowed OP characters let people really let loose whenever they felt like it.

If you are interested let me know, also let me hear ideas from other people in what you really wanna see in an rp like this

Intro so far

The Mushroom inn is one of the most affordable Inn’s in Noldrig, yet this brings trouble to the inn quite often. The Mushroom Inn has multiple rooms, though they aren’t all in the best condition but their livable, each with the bare necessities, a bed and a night stand. The bathroom however is at the end of each hall. The Inn also has a bar at the bottom, yet what makes the Mushroom inn the most interesting is what’s underneath it. Something called a Field Crystal is in the basement, whenever a battle is about break out it creates a field where no property damage can be done. Yet this crystal has also been known to cause problems for the inn as it has malfunctioned before and sent some of the Inn’s residences into terrible worlds.

The City of Noldrig houses the biggest portal hub in the world which allows people from all over to come to Noldrig from anywhere, sometimes from outside of reality. These portals however have been known to malfunction at times, but for the most part their fairly safe to use. Most often these portals are used by refugees of war, hoping to find a new start in Noldrig.

What would an "inn RP" entail? Is it just playing people who work at an inn?

It's more of a social thing that allows you to develop a character that is staying at the inn

Count me in. Last Inn RP I was in was a blast... Although it did go rather far off the rails.

Recettear was a disappointment to me, despite me being the target demographic.

I was going to have a gadsden flag instead, but I figured why use political symbolism when I can use chinese girl cartoons instead? Much less offensive t dirty reds people who disagree with the free market.

I'm interested! But I don't know about the OPness and letting people go wild with that part (I say this mostly cause I'm already in an rp of that nature and its enough for me right now) but I'm curious as to where this will go.

I honestly made this interest check on a whim, I have no idea what I want to do plot wise so I'm gonna need help there XD

We could do the classic mid-80s sitcom plot where the inn is facing financial trouble and through the wacky hijinks of the regulars it pulls through thanks to heart and friendship.

Hmmm maybe.... though it does seem a bit cliche to me, though for a base plot line it isn't such a bad idea
Maybe it's got a curse though and all who came to it will inevitably cause trouble and the innkeeper needs help on stopping this...

Also In order to prevent property damage in battles I'm going to have a sort of system where if a fight starts the people are transported to a sort of battle field that can fight in and go all out.

I need more ideas! PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED! GIVE ME YOUR IDEAS!

Maybe the inn lies at a major crossroads, connecting two or more major civilizations. This would help explain the presence of people of diverse backgrounds. I suppose it could either be within a large city, or perhaps in a more rural area. Either way, it should probably have something special about it to make it worthwhile for (presumably) adventuring types to drop by. Maybe it's a particularly nice inn, or maybe it lies rather near a person or place of interest- the local lord is known for hiring professional 'troubleshooters,' thus attracting mercenaries, or a significant ruinous complex lies nearby, and adventurers, merchants, and scholars of all stripe have been drawn to the area. There might be illegal gambling in the back, or else the inn acts as a front for some other illicit activity. Maybe the players are in on it- or maybe they're trying to stamp it out.

Maybe the inn was founded by a famous adventurer, and he retains a reputation for being helpful to those still active in his former craft. Perhaps there is something magical or supernatural about the place- the inn acts as a conduit of divine or arcane energy, or maybe it stands on a site where the boundaries between various realities are unusually weak.

Just some thoughts. Oh, and I'd just like to go on record as saying I'm not especially fond of the idea of OP characters. But that's just me.

Also I should probably ask this now, what is everyone's definition of OP?

Cause for me its some one who can do alot of property damage via an attack, like they could take down a small building,

Overly OP however to me is someone who can destroy and entire nation or planet

I guess when I say 'OP,' I only mean a character that is significantly more powerful than the rest of the major characters in the story. The meaning would really be pretty contextually dependent- that is, if most of the characters are the equivalent to 1st level DnD characters, the ability to magically create a pocket dimension would be pretty OP.

I guess what I mean to say is, what is or is not OP would depend on the power level of the RP, and the relative ability of the other characters in it.
