"Well." Vane began. "I know it currently fills the river of this land and it's not safe to drink. I also believe this kingdom may have used it to some degree... i've heard tale of blacksmiths that could use ichor to strengthen ones weapons and even create fantastical ones out of unlikely materials." He explained, the holes in his knowledge pretty glaring. "Thus, my current goal is to find Bellmoral, which I believe is behind this dusty fossil of a temple."

Eldarin nodded in some surprise at this information. Using the ichor to craft and strengthen weapons? He wondered if perhaps the golden vials he carried with him could be used for such a purpose. "From what little I know that seems to be correct. If you wish, just a small hallway back, I saw a large door. Perhaps your Bellmoral is behind it, I wanted to explore it anyway. Care to join me?" He wasn't sure what or who Bellmoral was, but at a guess it was some kind of smith or forge. Regardless it sounded quite interesting and exploring was always best done with someone to watch your back.

"Seeing as how this room bears no way forward..." Vane swept a hand around the room, showing it did indeed have no door whatsoever, he nodded. "I say returning and checking this other entrance sounds like a good idea indeed. Lead on my friend, I shall shadow your footsteps and fight by your side." the knight said proudly.

Eldarin nodded and turned back the way he'd came. Quickly making his way to the door and opening it, entering where it lead curiously and with a little more confidence than before. Vane had proven himself to be quite a capable fighter and his red tonic had had plenty of time to work its magic.

The next room appeared to be a common room of some sort. Ancient tables lined the centre of the room with 5 seats on either side, seating 20 in total. A few old sets of cutlery and crockery still beset the tables, dusty as the rest of the temple. There were a few statues standing against the walls, however none of them were armed with weaponry and all were still and quiet. There was another door on the opposite end of the room.
"I wonder, what could this temple have been for..." Vane thought aloud as he walked behind Eldarin.

Eldarin looked around curiously, it seemed rather odd the relative pristine-ness of the place. It was as though, if the dust went away, you could see robed men sitting at the tables and eating a simple meal. He shrugged, "Perhaps some sort of priestly group, maybe even related to the Ichor. I wonder what made it fall into disrepair like this?" Eldarin asked, though like Vane it was more thinking aloud than expecting an actual response. Regardless they would keep moving on through the temple, no time to peer at dusty cutlery and hazard guesses about things long dead.

Beyond the next door, a dark stretch of wide corridor continued onward. The torches were dimmed in this particular area as shadows were cast along from the ceiling... there were faint scratching sounds up ahead. Vane had his blade out.
"Do you hear that? I feel suspicious..."

Eldarin nodded and similarly took out his own blade as he peered into the darkness. That scratching sound was oddly familiar. Oh he hoped it wasn't spiders. Unwilling to venture too far into the darkness, Eldarin took a deep breath and pointed his palm down the corridor. He let out a brief silent prayer and a orb of flame raced out from his hand, it shot forward and rolled along the ground. Even with his glove he still winced a little at the fiery pain that raced through his hand. The flame itself acted much like a flare, lighting up the immediate area and still providing light as it slowly fizzled out among the cold stones.

The stone lit up a decent length of the corridor and it briefly showed the ceiling. Something scuttled out of the light... it was hard to catch a full look at it, but it looked like it had four legs and an oddly shiny body, but what it truly was, was unclear.
"What was that?" Vane queried with worry in his voice.

Eldarin glared at the creature as it passed out of sight and sighed, "Not quite sure but it looks nasty. Since I can't throw those all day we'll just have to proceed with caution." Relutantly, but still determined to get through this dark place, Eldarin continued walking, eyes sweeping across the darkness.

"Right..." Vane followed him, holding his weapon in both hands as they crossed the darkened corridor. Once they were roughly at the halfway point, a loud thud was heard from in front of them as the thing they had seen was suddenly upon them, screeching loudly. Now it was closer, they could get a better idea of what it was. It appeared to be a torso from a suit of armour, spindly clawed fleshy appendages poking out of its arm holes and its bottom. In the neckhole, a nub of flesh lined with razor sharp snapping teeth was poking out, the beast using its remarkable speed to latch onto Eldarin's leg with a bite.

Eldarin let out a cry of surprise at the little monster's speed in latching onto his leg. Reacting with a combination of instinct and reflex, his sword burst into flame and was quickly plunged into the center of the metal torso, hopefully impaling whatever nasty critter lay inside.

The critter let out a harsh squeal as he'd done well to hit its flesh rather than its armour. Vane swiftly booted it into the darkness as it became a pyre in its death.
"What manner of devil is that..." he commented, fear lacing his words.

The flames quickly vanished from Eldarin's blade with the death-cry of the creature and Eldarin experimentally shook his leg. A little warm from the close shave with his blade and it had little wounds in it from the teeth but it was superficial damage. He shook his head, "I know not. Hopefully there aren't more of them." Eldarin said in a way that meant he fully expected more of the little beasts ahead. Still, there was nothing to do but carry onward.

As they continued along the darkened corridor, it started to show a larger room ahead with a light of some kind. But as they continued, there were two loud thuds in the darkness, one in front of them and one behind, Vane turning quickly to attack the torso beast in front of him, whilst the other sprang at Eldarin's chest, snapping its vicious little jaws.

Eldarin quickly brought his shield up to intercept the beast, causing its teeth to clack futility against the shield. The next moment the shield was withdrawn to be replaced with his blade stabbing into the center of the creature, hopefully skewering it to the ground.

The little blighter caught a face full of blade, running it through marvellously as it fell to the ground dead. Vane was having issue with his opponent, his far bigger sword lacked the precision strikes that Eldarin's blade could afford him, and thus, his blade was simply batting back the torso beast with each strike.

Eldarin felt a small rush of pleasure at the death of the little monster and he quickly turned to see how Vane was faring. Clearly the man's hack and slash style was proving ineffective against the nimble armored creature. Eldarin waited a second or two until he saw the creature leap once more at Vane and lunged forward to meet it with his blade, shouting, "Duck!" as he did so, hoping the warrior would have the presence of mind to allow Eldarin a clear shot at the little bugger.

Vane ducked just in time as the blade skewered the second creature, causing it to spasm a few times before it died on the length of metal. Vane sighed in relief.
"Thank you."

Eldarin pushed the beast off his blade with a slight huff of disgust. "Of course. We'd be best keep moving, I'd like to get out of this wretched darkness as fast as possible and who knows how many more of those creatures lurk in here." Eldarin said confidently and turned around to keep pressing through the temple.
