High Elves have the Roman stuff already.

So, the high elves with the disciplined, professional heavy infantry-focused army, and then the humans with much less discipline (and far less lifespan to gather experience) improving on what they managed to learn by making up for it with, say, horses? And of course the nice armour.

What about centaurs? They could resemble the Tatars and the Mongols with some Turk influence in terms of culture.

Er, someone else already mentioned having an idea. Would be nice to hear them out first.

... plus you've basically just said 'centaurs as steppe nomads', given where all those ethnic groups started.

...Oh right, um, hang on...

So hey, I wrote a huge thing about them in a previous worldbuilding thing that kind of died. And there's also the blurb in this one; there's a little inconsistency between the two, but that's because... The blurb for the picture is about my own fantasy world I've slowly been building up for a while now. But basically the gist is that they have a Mongolian aesthetic to them, whatever culture they had before was wiped out by another race who enslaved them, they eventually threw off their shackles and now are a group of proud warrior types basically. The one from the previous worldbuilding thing mentions it was orcs that did it as a placeholder (I was going to figure out something for that I guess), and the older fluff in the picture's blurb mentions high elves because the high elves of that setting are basically Nazis. Either way, that's all easy to change up if anyone's interested in having them in this world but um yeah. ^^;

Hmmm... Other random idea I just had: a race of goblin-ish creatures who take on the nastiest aspects of Aztec culture. Any thoughts on that, or any of the other things that have been brought up?

I never understood why the undead have to be evil or even why necromancy is viewed as evil actually i have had the idea that necromancy can be used as a healing art in a way as i can imagine some really talented Necromancer revving dead blood cells (Lets make something perfectly clear i am not a doctor or view myself as an expert in biology i know some basic stuff but that's it so are we clear? Good) or just revving dead cells.

As for the undead I know in some stories D&D for example an undead is powered by negative energy but i don't see why that should make them as evil so that is why i really want to make that undead kingdom idea happen

Generally, D&D undead work out as evil because negative energy is more or less the antithesis of all life. Aside from liches, most undead exist because of either being murdered by some other type, sheer hatred, or a necromancer decided they'd be useful. Because of what they are, the mindless ones are not the biggest fan of 'living things'. Plus living people tend to not appreciate walking corpses that attack and eat them.

I think it's because it's seen as a perversion of the natural order, and usually ends up putting the souls of those its done to into torment and pain (I mean not always, but that seems to pop up quite a lot).

I was thinking that the undead kingdom probably weren't actually raised by a necromancer, mind you; more that either the land they originally came from was rich in magic and when they died they all just got back up again, or they were wiped out in such a way that their vengeful souls couldn't rest and so they... Just got back up again and after dealing with whatever wiped them out found themselves unable to pass on anyways. But hmmm, major work in progress I guess. ^^;

Oh, and 2E AD&D, healing spells were under necromancy (not Cure Disease or Cure Poison, oddly enough, but Slow Poison is and Cure X Wounds). I think the positive stuff was moved out of it in 3.5, I think they were still necromancy rather than Transmutation in 3.

You know i have come up with a reason for why dark elves are carnivorous they come from the island of Incarva which is known for its long nights and winters (With winter lasting almost the entire year and nights lasting about sixteen hours but days lasting about four hours) so thanks to these factors makes farming of crops nearly impossible, meat from the local fauna is there biggest food source (it helps that mammoth are a common fauna in Incarva) however a dark elves diet doesn't only consist of fauna they are known to eat cave mushrooms however they don't get as much nutrition from them as they would from meat

Diet: fish. Whatever animals can eat the plants that are in their place (which I'd probably make a peninsula so they've actually got neighbours, though Viking raids from an island could be interesting...). Fungi as the all-purpose replacement for anything but meat or dairy...

... and a Varangian guard of dark elves. :O

@Raineh Daze as i am basing Incarva on Iceland so i do sorta want it to be an island that would be located far north

@Rin i did base them a bit on the Icelandic i can sorta imagine them living in houses that are buried into the earth like this

Well, less modern looking than that but I get what you mean. XD Hmmm... Maybe if the island was bigger than Iceland, and the southernmost parts of it were relatively warm compared to the rest of it? By which I mean still pretty cold but not as bad as the rest of it, and it would only be a small part of it that was like that... Hmmmm.

I do rather like the idea of making the dark elves vaguely norse, though. It's pretty cool, and would help differentiate them from the Roman high elves.

Anyways... Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Or anything else to contribute?

Actually i have idea for Marduk's version of Orcs for one i think they should be an all-female amazonian and much like the Asari from Mass Effect they can have children with any other race but unlike the Asari they reproduce through intercourse where the Asari do some weird mind-linking thing.

so before anyone asks i have been wanting to have amazonian in this for a while and not to long ago i stumbled across a chart for a game (i think) and it dealt with princesses, there were a Amazonian Princess and Orc Princess but for some reason the orc princess in a little text below her it said "Loves Snu Snu" so i suddenly got the idea for it
