Makes way more sense than vegan elves, at the very least. XD

So do we want more than one kind of elf, and if so should we go with the traditional three types (high/wood/dark) or figure out something different?

My suggestion here is split them into at least two, with one group being "traditionalists" (ie. wood elves) and the other being less so (basically elves that don't do the magic and nature thing and focus more on the whole warrior race thing). With neither being inherently good or evil, but yeah.

...Either that or go back to the roots of elves and make them into the capricious, amoral fair folk rather than Tolkein-esque high elves but yeah. XD Hmmm.

@Rin i like amoral idea as it sorta fits with my idea of them being only capable of eating

I once decided that it made no sense for dark elves to somehow eat vegetation because how the hell would you be getting any plantlife underground? The only thing that really made sense was fungus (not a plant, and I think tends to be more meat-like) or whatever animals were spontaneously subsisting on thermal energy and/or magic. XD

I think you've confused amoral with immoral. Plus, being an obligate carnivore would make meat eating in and of itself have no particular moral relevance.

@Raineh Daze no i didn't i know the difference but i also have the idea that elves have a huge connection to the grim reaper or whatever our personification of death will be (i forgot mention this idea also came from the magic the gathering which i usually always play with Green/Black Deck)

Yeah, by "amoral" I mean more like... Basically like the fair folk of legend. They have a different, alien set of morals and behaviours to humans, and come off as rather eerie at best and utterly terrifying at worst.

...Hmmm, I'm bad at explaining things but they're basically the things that parents warn their children about to keep them in line. Hedonistic, sinister, stealing away children at night, luring in beautiful humans to take part in their dances and rituals, etc. etc. The kind who'll swear an eternal vendetta against an entire bloodline for one minor slight, who come off as pure and innocent as a child with all the cruelty and inability to understand that what they do is wrong that comes with it.

Just an idea, though. XD And probably the darkest thing I'm going to contribute but yeah.

I dunno, maybe it's because I'm a huge Discworld and Sandman fangirl, but I just find it difficult to imagine an evil or amoral personification of death anymore. ^^; At most, I'd see them as neutral, just carrying out a natural process and keeping the natural order in check.

Unicorns? Amphibious? You come up with the strangest things, Bill, and that's what I like the most about you.

Not sure what the logic behind that idea is, and don't really care for the idea because of that. ^^;

Besides, focusing on little stuff like that right now is getting a bit too ahead of ourselves, really.

I also don't terribly see a reason for completely inventing a new fantasy creature, then giving it a name belonging to one. May as well just make up something new.

So, elves: amoral fair folk types, something more along the lines of normal fantasy, or the normal fantasy types but amoral rather than smug? XD

Yeah, probably the best way to go, realy. And if we really want to go nuts, we could make those ones the high elves and then make the dark elves be the nice ones. XD But getting ahead of myself, I guess.

Could always just move that trait onto some kind of fair folk-ish race, really. And yes, I am going to push for the fair folk because I find them rather fascinating.

Be that as it may, you have a good idea there.
