for course it nice idea there giant mechs

But i had idea for a Binding/summoning spell that is only used by the high elves and its call "Ame Tileka" (A mixture of Zulu and French meaning "Soul Contract") what it does is that it binds the soul of a being (lets say a humans for example) to a Parchment, scroll or the Hide of an animal etc etc. you get the point it binds the human's soul to one of these thing which turns the human into an "Ame Invicteur" (A mixture of Zulu and French meaning "Soul Servant"). This spell is used by the high elves as a mean to punish others for because of some sort of slight. so essentially turns whoever into an "temporary servant" how long it will exist depends on how much Energy was put into its summoning and when said time is up the being's body that was summoned will start to fall apart and crumble into dust, they also forget everything that they had done during there period of existence (and they know this fact). Also an Ame Invicteur can only die into way one is having it heart torn out of it body or having whatever there soul is bound to destroyed

Dwarfs are the musically inclined race because the dwarfs live underground the music the dwarfs play will echo loudly so they use music in battle to make there armies appear bigger then it actually is against invading armies

...I dunno, I don't really like that idea for some reason. And it seems kind of random to mix French and Zulu in one term but um hmmm. Besides, we're still trying to come up with how magically/technologically inclined the setting is, and have barely touched on the actual races yet (the stuff with elves was an accidental tangent which I apologize for, really ^^;) so that's getting a bit ahead of ourselves there really.

As for the dwarfs, there's an easier explanation for why they'd be musically inclined. Since they're so into rock and metal. >.> <.<

Dwarves being musically inclined makes a lot of sense actually. They'd probably have a good sense of rhythm with all the repeated striking of picks against stone and hammering metal out and stuff.

Also I'm inclined to suggest that for original races, I think we should kind of stick to original words? For the human races depending on where they live we can probably just borrow from existing languages, but for elves and stuff we should probably try and make something up that seems like it fits the race and works as a language.

Also, since we're doing high magic(that seems to be the consensus at least), the mecha could probably be powered by using magical means. Airships would probably use balloons made of various materials. Or floating rocks or something.

And, um, I have a few ideas to suggest in regards to some stuff.

First off, um, if anyone actually likes the whole "Inverted Black Tower" thing, it would now be called Edes Athran. It's on its own plane of existence, and in spite of it being an upside-down massive black tower, it's still incredibly malevolent and projects this malevolence onto the living world. It has no mind or thoughts or anything at all, but it's so evil that it casts a shadow into the living world. We'd have to work out what it actually does if anyone likes this idea but yeah.

Secondly, I have a deity to suggest! Her name is Ila-Nem, which is a contraction of Ila-Zenniso-Netuyem, and she is the night goddess(and chief deity) for a race of desert-dwelling humanoids. According to their creation myth, she brought down starlight and forged it into flesh and bone to create them. They are the Nem, who are a nocturnal race that resembles humans. They are extremely pale due to being nocturnal, with slightly-larger-than-most-human's, expressive red or yellow eyes and black hair. They're also very small at 3'4 to 3'5 as adults.

Save that for later because I like it.

... If there is a binding thing like that, it should probably have a name that's not cobbled together from real-world languages and also be used by, say, evil magi or something... and also not used for the giant armor suit mecha.

So me and Vita were talking, and it started out as her joking about something but we kind of came up with the idea of basing the high elves on the Roman empire. Still need to work stuff out about it so will probably bring this up again later, but just an idea I guess. XD

Also this means we can make them super pretentious as high elves should be by naming all their stuff in Latin. XD

@RomanAriaMaybe it's the username that tipped me off, but somehow I knew you at least would approve of this idea. XD That would be rather helpful though, since unfortunately my High Gothic is pretty rusty.

But I dunno, I just kind of felt that if you were to compare high elves to any historical civilization, it would probably end up being the Romans. That and I think the idea's pretty nifty so yeah.

Roman!High Elves seemed like an interested twist while still kind of keeping them true to what High Elves are meant to be, really.

Also I totally have an idea for their leader. <.< >.>

But aren't we sorta making the high elves the amoral elves but i guess we could always have those be the wood elves so we would have three types of elves instead of two which is fine

@BillsomethingEh, the idea we came up with was basically "Roman elves" and we figured that going by the generic fantasy races, such a thing probably fits high elves better.

And yeah, that stuff would probably work really well with wood elves. I've seen wood elves who embrace the fair folk side of things more than you usually see done pretty well before, so yeah.

Although really I'm just throwing out vague concepts right now. We're pretty early on in development, after all, and the way I see it it's better to just have a single basic concept for things that we can work more on later than develop something pretty in-depth at the moment and then find out it might not fit well with the rest of the stuff. But again, that's the way I see it, and I'm not infallible or anything. XD

Also, speaking of vague concepts, for some reason whilst I was in the shower the idea of soviet dwarfs popped into my head. Dunno if that sparks any inspiration for anyone else but I'm going to keep it in mind for the time being.

Well, think about it: the dwarfs always seem to greatly value their workers and craftsmen; their smiths, miners and (naturally) brewers are always considered very important to them. So I figured with a little nudging, making them left wing and pro-working class (amongst other things) might work pretty well.

Probably closer to the likes of Marx and Lenin than, say, Stalin, but I dunno. Hmmm. Just a random suggestion, like I said.
