We begin our adventure among the twisting trees and tall grass of the Orcish Shattur Isles. The Orcs here are notoriously more human looking than their heaving cousins in the mainland, although it has been debated they are just as ugly.



Three tribes once occupied the islands, the smallest of the three - Boartuff - has recently fallen completely off the map. None have risked the deep canyons into their lair in fear of finding nothing of value and dying there in the dark. None aside from Captain Drugg, whose ancient ancestors lived among such caves in the isles.

Responding to his advertisement of a wealth and treasure in many different taverns, you have all found your way onto his ship The Grey Wolf.



The Captains crew has suffered attrition during the voyage, and they need food and water. Drugg seems to think he knows a spot along the river that might prove promising, and so you calmly sail down the Tongue in hope of food and water for yourself.

Character sheet posted.

Lucretius is very Skills oriented, but pointedly, none of them are charisma skills. He is not going to be using Bluff, Diplomacy, or Sense Motive checks, so we will need another Face for the party.

@PripovednikThat's how druids and a few other casting classes work; they have a pre-determined list from which they can choose to cast spells from. However, they have to prepare them ahead of time through prayer/meditation for an hour during the day; and only so many as allowed by the spells per day chart. At level one, I'd only be able to prep three 0-levels and two 1-levels per day. The spells on my sheet are all 0 and 1-level spells that I can chose to prepare.

In a sense, druids, clerics and wizards have unlimited spells from their rosters 'known,' whereas sorcerers and bards have to pick which ones they actually know, but are able to cast those at will without earlier preparation. Sorcerers and bards can cast anything they know spontaneously, but these other classes are limited to the spells they have prepared for the day and need to cycle out spells next time if they want to be able to cast others.

Been working on this for a while, and I'm not close yet to finishing it.

If you guis want to start the game ahead of me, go for it. I can pop in later, and claim that my squishy wizard was seasick or something.

Just this once, I went without rolling for Hide and Move Silently or asking for Spot/Listen checks. In the future, whenever Lucretius pulls his Ninja shenanigans, I will be sure to declare so here along with all pertinent details. This exception was just for the purposes of introducing him.

I'm going to be dropping from this game.

I'm super sorry to do this, because I had thought this would be an excellent time to start learning how to play D&D.

Unfortunately, I recognize that the learning curve for me to fully understand how to make a character would take too long for the rest of the group, especially with recent time constraints that have forced me to cut back on my Rping.

@PripovednikIf I want to make a roll - for example to take a spot check to find a trail or a knowledge (nature) check to figure the best way to venture - do I mention that here and then write up the result in the post once you've confirmed it?

In addition, since I have to pray/meditate for my spells, can we assume I've done so on the boat over the journey? If so, I'll pick Create Water, Know Direction, Purify Food & Drink (0-levels) plus Shillegah and Entangle (1-levels).

@Aristo You will perform such spells in your post, separating the meta at the body. I will make a post that replies to such rolls.

For example like;
Mikas peered through the thick undergrowth, he could barely see his own feet, so he spent some looking for a path which he and his friends could follow.


Cast/rolls: Spot check for a trail + Know direction.
