Personality:
Guileless and energetic, Riley acts like a young puppy, mainly due to his current guardian's... ahem, "training". As a result, he tends to cling to the people he likes and is incredibly cooperative, even more so than normal. Riley's loyalty, as baseless as it is, lets him overcome his pitifully long list of fears as long as it's for someone's sake. He rarely changes his mind once he decides something, for better or worse.

Skills:
Riley's stamina is nigh inexhaustible, despite his habit of sleeping too much. He's also surprisingly good at mock sword-fighting with sticks and the like.

Brief Backstory:
Born in the US, Riley was raised by his mother while his father worked far overseas. However, he was sent over to Japan at a young age to live with his aunt after his mother was sent to the hospital due to a chronic illness. Deciding that it may be better for him to stay there in case his mother got sick again, Riley officially moved into Rokuro City. While it was evident within the first few days that his new guardian was rather eccentric, he's still just as happy as ever.

There's nothing wrong with the character, but a mundane child is not going to be able to do much after getting involved in the battle for the White Night of Klarsberg.

Some mage families might be jerks and force children to participate, but I'm afraid this doesn't work out so well.

@Raineh Daze I usually start with abilities and such, and use them to inspire the history, but I was having problems coming up with anything else without making her history first. Glad to see I'm not the only one. ^_^

@Raijinslayer: Demons are a race of human-like beings, some resembling humans entirely while others boast horns, wings, tails, or other unusual features. They are fast, stronger, and more durable then humans, and possess a strange form of regeneration that works by reversing their "personal time" to reset their bodies back to the uninjured state. They first appeared roughly a thousand years ago, coinciding with the fall of the Archangel Lucifer.

What most people don't know is that the first demons were originally humans, who were changed by Lucifer's fall, which was such a catastrophic event that it tore a hole in reality and exerted a warped form of divinity that altered humans to create demons. The most powerful demons, including the Seven Princes of Hell, originate from this time.

They can be summoned through various means.

• Appearance: Elise is a tall woman with a slender build which gives her a somewhat fragile appearance.
• Personality: Elise's personality has developed in response to a life of knowing that she was born on the bottom rung of the magical world, so she harbors a mixture of resentment and envy for the powerful mage families. She's stubborn, particularly when told something is beyond her ability, and tries to seize every opportunity to prove herself. Coupled together, these things make her very easy to provoke and leave her prone to reckless thinking and behavior.
• Abilities: Although she is nothing special compared to children of the great houses, Elise is the strongest practitioner of the ancestral magic passed down the Isley family in generations. She has an affinity for ______, which holds a sentimental meaning to their declining house since it is the strongest magic they possess.

• Skills: Elise doesn't have any combat training, but she has the quick reflexes necessary for casting magic without hesitation. She's a skilled driver, and she can cast her lower-level spells mentally.

  • A deck of handmade cards inscribed with runes to increase the efficacy of her magic, as well as blank cards.

  • Her smartphone, which has an interesting magical application.
• Brief Backstory: Elise was born into an old and diluted family of European mages which hasn't produced anything worthwhile in several generations. In fact, while she isn't the most experienced, Elise might be the most potent living member of their house. Magic was a distant possibility for most of her childhood, as her mother lacked any ability and her father was only a middling quality mage, but when her grandfather learned of her affinity for _______ he decided to take her training into his own hands. _______, the affinity which had accompanied some of the most skilled mages in the family's long history, had not been seen in four generations of the family's mages. With the White Night nearing completion, her aged mentor allowed himself a sliver of hope that the Isley family might have a place in the final lunge towards the Origin after all.
  
  At first, the young Elise rebelled against being taken away from her father and mother. However, as her grandfather taught her about magic and the history of her family he awoke within her the lust for power that drives most mages forward. Without the connection to a powerful family, she had to claw her way into the Tower on her own merits, but once she was accepted she studied hard to overcome her disadvantages and prove her worth as a mage. It didn't come easy to her though, and her poor bloodline made her the subject of some ridicule and scorn from the fellow students who thought themselves superior to her. Still, she managed to earn a reputation for her stubborn effort which, more often than not, paid off.
  
  With the White Night of Klarsberg approaching, she has bid her grandfather farewell for what may be the final time. She is determined to either survive this ritual and prove once and for all that mages of the Isley family are not to be underestimated. Of course, her failure might deliver the killing blow to her withering family.
