Hyacinthus Trivett

Name:Hyacinthus Leopold Trivett
Nickname:Jazz
Birth Date:February 14th
Age:Fifteen
Sexuality:Homosexual
In Depth Appearance:His blood and upbringing have imbued Hyacinthus' looks with an undeniable delicacy, which makes him stand out a bit more than he would prefer. For a boy his age, he is understandably on the short side, and a life of strictly adhering to his father's diets has left him with a healthfully thin frame. His skin is pale and mostly umblemished, save for a plethora of little moles that he has grown fond of over the years.
His face is oval shaped, with soft, high cheekbones, an angular jaw, and a modestly sized, graceful nose. Framed by his pale blond hair, of a medium length and fluffy, and his trimmed brown eyebrows, Hyacinthus' eyes are a dark green, tinged with an inner ring of brown, and there usually is a distinct warmth to them. Much like his rosy lips, they compliment the rest of his visage, and add to the youthful tenderness that it suggests.
His hair colour is, of course, the product of some expensive dyes that his mother was glad to provide. In fact, ever since he turned eleven, Hyacinthus has been experimenting with plenty of hair colours and styles. The septum ring that he proudly wears, on the other hand, is a more recent, contained little act of rebellion on his part, one that, when found out, earned Hyacinthus his first punishment in over four years: no new poetry books for a whole week.
Clothing Style:Generally speaking, Hyacinthus prefers colourful muggle clothing, specially sweaters, hoodies and t-shirts. He enjoys both tight and loose fitting attires, but likes loose ones above all, in part because they conceal his binder better. Of all his pieces of clothing, his favourite is a thick, white, woolen cardigan, which was a Christmas gift from his paternal grandmother, and is far too large for his frame.
Asides from his septum ring, he does not wear any jewelry, other than the occasional crown of wildflowers he makes for himself.

Personality:♦ Serene ♦ Curious ♦ Disciplined ♦ Moralistic ♦
Hyacinthus is an easygoing boy, inquisitive and playful, but not prone to recklessness. He is also polite, sensitive, and charitative, always having a kind word and some sweets to comfort those who need it. Learning excites him, specially if the teacher is passionate and demanding, and even more so if the subject in question is herbology, potions or poetry. He is also a bit of a goofball, who likes to have fun whenever and wherever, although not necessarily if it means breaking the rules outright, or anything that may upset others. He loves the outdoors, specially vast grassy fields and flower gardens.
Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, not even a talented witch like Ursula, nor a cultured physician like Frederick, could have ever raised a perfect child, and Hyacinthus' problems are not few. Though he may have his parents' wholehearted love and support, Hyacinthus is still not safe from feelings of dysphoria. Even worse, however, is that, while their rigour may have preserved Hyacinthus from becoming a spoiled brat, it has turned him into a very sheltered boy, unaccustomed to being with other people of his age, and perhaps too placid to adapt to a sudden, unexpected turn of events. If he finds himself overwhelmed by circumstances, Hyacinthus may come crashing down, or simply run away and lose himself in the comfort of his rules and hobbies.
In his interactions with others, Hyacinthus usually comes off as naïve, which he actually is, to some extent. Although it was not necessarily what his parents' wanted, he grew up believing in a strict moral code, though he has not developed much of a skill in elucidating who is truly good or evil at heart. To him, there is no middle ground in matters of virtue, and he can be very severe, though not merciless, towards those he judges as malevolent.
Because of how used he is to communicating in the manner he does with his mother, with shared idiosyncrasies aplenty, talking with people other than her can be difficult for him. When he speaks to others, he usually does it in sudden spurts of short, concise strings of sentences, after which he often trails off. In light of that, he much prefers to communicate with others through gestures both big and small, including smiles, hugs and gifts. Technically speaking, Hyacinthus is not a shy person, just somewhat awkward. Beyond his verbal communication woes, he is a lively and friendly boy, only seldom seen without at least the ghost of a smile on his lips.
Hyacinthus' aspirations are a mystery, even to himself. All he knows is that he likes to make other people happy, and would very much like to make that a regular thing. Other than that, he is aimless. The life of an Auror does not appeal to him, having seen how much it has stressed his mother over the years, and as much as he enjoys caring for the gardens in Startifant Hall, he is not sure that he wants to dedicate his life to flowers. Potions, though...
Background:Startifant Hall is a grand and lonely old manor hidden deep in the English countryside, surrounded by endless flowered meadows. The dark ancestral home of the infamous Startifant family, at first glance it may not seem like a place any child should be raised in. After all, the Startifant family tree is riddled with pureblood supremacists, Grindelwald sympathisers and Death Eaters, and their residence is a faithful reflection of this heritage. An air of ancient pride and sullen ruthlessness permeates its austere decorations, and many of its rooms, once great and luxurious, have become soot-covered ruins after decades of neglect.
Yet, despite being born within those somber halls,
Ursula Startifant did not grow into a typical Startifant, and neither did the children that she and her husband brought to the world. A sardonic and deceptively draconian woman with a fascination for herbology and potions, she was the very first Ravenclaw in the Startifant family, following countless generations of Slytherins, and as an adult she further broke away from her family's many traditions by becoming an Auror and eloping with a muggle called
Frederick Trivett.
Frederick, a man many years her senior, was a pediatrician with a fondness for botany and a character as playfully stern as her own. He accompanied Ursula in all her endeavours after they settled down in Frederick's hometown of Bibury, and their bond only grew stronger amidst the horrors that the Death Eaters wrought upon the British Isles, safe in their comfy little cottage. Eventually, the couple had a pair of identical twin daughters named
Jasmine and Rose, both of whom turned out to be Ravenclaws, just like their mother.
The Trivetts' near idyllic lifestyle, however, was brought to an end when news spread that Ursula's family had joined the ranks of the Death Eaters. Her parents, in particular, were rumoured to be behind the disappearances of several "blood traitors", while her younger brother had ended up in Azkaban for luring and torturing young muggle-born wizards and witches. Knowing that they would most likely seek to harm her family as well, and despite being pregnant with her third child, Ursula took it upon herself to strike first, and thus began a one-witch crusade against her fellow Startifants.
Ursula's war against her own family lasted almost four years. In the midst of it, she gave birth, and after the twins graduated from Hogwarts, they joined their mother in her mission while Frederick took care of their youngest child. Their journey eventually took them to Startifant Hall, and over the course of several weeks Ursula and her daughters laid siege to her childhood home. An entire wing of the manor collapsed during the long battle, and many of her uncles and cousins lost their lives when they lost control of a fiendfyre curse. In the end, Ursula and the twins succeeded in breaching the manor's defenses and stunning most of the surviving Startifants, with only a few managing to escape. To ensure that they would never pose a threat to her family, Ursula obliviated all of them and had them hidden in a faraway farm, under the care and protection of a house elf loyal to the Auror Office. With the manor under her control, Ursula moved in with her husband and children, turned it into a safe house for Aurors, muggle-borns and half-bloods, and began to dedicate much of her time to raising her youngest child.
Hyacinthus Trivett grew up knowing all there was to know about his family, including the many atrocities committed by his Startifant relatives, and this shaped him into who he is today in more ways than one. Both his parents worked hard to make sure that he followed in his mother and sister's footsteps and avoided the life of a Death Eater. Over the years, they tried to instill in him their open-mindedness and love for learning, but made it their priority to raise him into a good person, someone who would not hurt others, specially in the name of a notion as noxious as "blood purity." They thus sought to teach him the value of humility and kindness. For every lesson on magical history, there was also a lesson on muggle botany and gardening. For every hour Hyacinthus spent with his mother brewing potions in the manor's ancient kitchen, there was hour spent baking delicious treats together while playing games of wit.
Frederick and Ursula, however, were not indulgent. In Hyacinthus' education, his mother put a strong emphasis on discipline, albeit not without some flexibility. Their daily schedules were organised with clockwork precision, but in every task they found opportunities for subtle mischief. Ursula was strict, but hardly cruel, and Hyacinthus was mostly happy living within the structures they had built together, and therefor growing into a very reliable person.
Frederick, for his part, had a bit more difficulty, despite having already raised two witches. Yet over the years he found common ground with his son, and their shared moments of leisure were not too rare. True to the spirit behind his parenting, when Hyacinthus finally found the courage, at the age of ten, to tell his father that he was, in fact, a boy, Frederick took it upon himself to be both accomodating and vigilant. He filled Startifant Hall's library with muggle books on gender identity, having found those written by wizards and witches lacking, and kept a close watch on how his son's feelings developed.
Hyacinthus' first display of magical ability, in the form of accidentally making some kitchen utensils float in the air, was met with enthusiasm from his parents and sisters, as was his first letter from Hogwarts. Despite fears that he would be sorted into Slytherin, he approached his first year at the legendary school with enthusiasm, bringing with himself a trunk full of flowers and poetry. He was ultimately sorted into Hufflepuff, much to his relief, and he spent the following years being an almost model student, demonstrating a peculiar aptitude for Herbology, Potions and Astronomy. Amongst his fellow students, he became known for helping new arrivals adjust to life in Hogwarts, and comforting other students in distress, mostly through kind words, tasty treats and fun games.
Now on his fifth year as a student at Hogwarts, Hyacinthus continues to be the same calm, studious boy he has always been. He acts as the emotional support for many fellow students, Hufflepuff or otherwise, and his Potions and Herbology professors see much potential in him. However, the rumours of Death Eaters lurking within Hogwarts have made him quite anxious, particularly given his fear of being seduced into joining their ranks or murdered for his blood status. He has not expressed these worries in his weekly letters to his parents, although his mother has advised him to be watchful, and to practise his protective and offensive spells regularly.
