The Mannequin

Description:

The Changeling Unit third in command. It appears to be a Mannequin doll, like one artists use to pose. It's body shape was nothing human, only similar in anatomy. Crafted out of a light-grey ceramic, it had little features that made it look human - with the features it does have making it look much more uncanny. It's ceramic shell was smooth, and segmented to allow it to move. It had balls acting as joints for it's limbs. Underneath the shell, were red wires, weaved to appear like human muscles. With a few dangling, disconnected. What made it odd was the light-blood splatter that coated it's limbs, and shell. It's limbs were long, and had several joints. It's legs were long enough to make it ten feet tall - yet, since it was always hunched, walking strangely, it didn't always appear to reach that full height. It's fingers were long, and oddly human-like. All topped off with it's head, it had no face, no features... Other than a actual human eyeball, with a strange, organic, mass, surrounding it. It moved erratically. And it's lifeless.

Powers:

It's unknown if the Mannequin has any superpowers. However, the Mannequin is robotic in nature. It possesses strength, speed, flexibility, and agility. On par with mid-level Metahumans. In addition, the Mannequin has retractable blades and needles all over it's body. It also has dart-guns in it's knuckles. In addition, the Mannequin possesses insane knowledge of biology, on par with scientists.

Witch Mother

Description:

An elderly woman, appears to be from Haiti. She has a very aged woman, which the web of wrinkles and other signs of age give away. She doesn't really have much in the height department, she's one inch below average. She's also somewhat out of shape, which is expected due to her age. The woman always wears a white robe that covers all her features. The robe has a red-cross on both sides of the hood. Witch Mother is one of the oldest members of the Changeling Unit - who has been forced into the business. Seeing all their atrocities has made her... compliant. Though, the Witch Mother is believed to come from a long line of Haitian Metahumans that have bore the name Witch Mother (The terrors of Haiti). Legends of Haiti that terrorized, or helped, anyone unfortunate enough to come across them.

Powers:
Biology Manipulation.

The Witch Mother possesses near-limitless control over biology. With a mere touch, she can alter, or completely redefine, the biology of any organism she touches. Which is an incredibly dangerous ability. She mainly acts as the healer for the Changeling Unit.

Fig is an Arabian woman that stands a few inches above the female average. She has soft facial features, and a youthful face. Her skin is obviously Arabian, likely Egyptian or Saudi-Arabian. Her facial features are consistent with them. Fig's most striking feature is her head of hair that has been dyed bright green. Fig doesn't talk, and simply smiles and laughs (It's unknown if she's actually mute, or silent by choice). Fig has traces in the middle-east, working with terrorist organizations. It's unknown how, or why, she came in contact with the Changeling Unit, and became intertwine with them.

Powers:
Gaseous-Energy Manipulation.

Fig can produce a gaseous green-energy that she can control like standard elemental types. This energy is similar to plasma, and is very hot. It burns anything it touches. However, Fig can solidify the energy to produce solid constructs. She can create anything she imagines, standard Green-lantern shizz.

Dr. Cross is one of the Chairmen of the organization, she leads the Southwestern branch of the Hands of Science. She has ultimate power within her branch, and has the ability to induce changes in any project. Dr. Cross is cold, mysterious, and determined. She believed that the research conducting will benefit mankind. Which is why she feels that it's necessary to stain the organization's hands with the blood of innocent people. Dr. Cross is a aged woman, that stands at average height, with neat-slicked back, black hair. Her eyes are brown, and it's believed that she has mixed ancestry in her genes. She usually wears a lab-coat with a stylish suit underneath it.

Powers:

None. Dr. Cross is a baseline human. She's incredibly intelligent if she reached her rank within the Hands of Science.

Shizuka has a small stature and slim build common among native Japanese; even the rigorous judo training didn't really help him to put on much muscle and weight. He has a slight tan from playing ball games outside with his peers. He sprouts a pompadour crewcut to keep the bangs out of his dark eyes; he's often teased about the fading strands that sprang from his scalps when he hit puberty at age fifteen, and within a short span of two years he's left with only a few specks of black hair among the mass of silver. his heart-shaped, androgynous face gives him a naturally innocent look without having to act the part; he has a small mole below the lower right of his thin lips.

Attire:

Due to his sporty nature, Shizuka usually prefers comfort over fashion - T-shirt (from plain to some that bear amusing-bordering-rude slogans), bermuda shorts or cargo pants, and a pair of sneakers. He does have a couple of smart-casual wear, but those are reserved for those times when he absolutely can't go with his usual clothes.

Innate & Outward Personality:

Outwardly, Shizuka is a quiet boy like his namesake - awkwardly shy, mild-mannered, sometimes showing a (rather embarrassing) geeky side when one is able to tune to the same brainwave as him. Dabbing into sports further hardwire physical and mental discipline into him, to better control his emotions and expand the use of his senses, giving him quicker reflexes when dealing with sticky situations.

Under this mundane facade he isn't as innocent as he seemed - he's no social butterfly nor a lurking loner, choosing to associate himself with whomever of use to fulfill his private agenda. He does have a good sense of humor, albeit on the snarky side.

Hobbies/Interests:

Shizuka is a very active sort of person - he loves to be on the move, and he can't sit still on the chair for more than a few minutes without going into a fidgety state. He often throws himself into various sports ever since he could walk on his own: from ball games such as basketball to the more extreme kinds like snowboarding and also martial arts. Even while playing video games he would annoy Haruka to no end with exaggerated motions when only his fingers and hands are required to move the controller, not his entire body.

Due to the nature of his parents' work, his family often has to travel around, moving from one place to another depending on where they are relocated to. Shizuka's limitless sense of curiosity and his physical restlessness give rise to his desire to go on a backpacking trip around the world on his own. He also begins to take great interest to broaden his knowledge on languages and cultures of other countries, which he finds useful to prepare for his backpacking dream.

Skills/Talents:

Shizuka's family spent a lot of time traveling - plus his obsession with picking up new languages - so besides his native tongue he is also fluent in English (well, it is the language most commonly used across the globe) and Chinese (easier for him to master due to many similarities with Japanese).

Although he dabbed into many different types of sports, competitive judo is probably the longest one he stayed on - he recently obtained his first black belt (Shodan, or First Degree in English). Rather than the throwing and grappling techniques judo is widely known for, he favors employing strikes for self-defense, making up for his small size with speed and well-timed blows. (Striking techniques are generally forbidden in standard competitions as most of them can be lethal, but they are still practised and allowed in informal randori.)

History:

Shizuka and his twin brother Haruka were born in Kamakura, a spiritual city in the Kanagawa Prefecture of Japan to Yuuichi and Asami Takashiro, who worked as diplomatic agents. Throughout his childhood days his family was constantly on the move - when the twins turned three their parents' job relocated them to Shanghai; when they were six the family was posted to Singapore; when they were eight to France... Even their tenth birthday was forgone as they had to fly to Australia. Not that Shizuka was complaining - it was actually quite the opposite: this contributed to his desire to travel around the world on his own after he grew up.

His powers began to manifest after he turned thirteen: sometimes his fingers would pass through whatever he was holding; he also found out that when he put his hands through electronic devices he would cause them to short-circuit. At first the ability was more of a nuisance to him: he had little to no control over how he could turn the power on or off, resulting in awkward situations such as things falling out of his grip unexpectedly, or part of his arm disappearing through the wall. An incident where his hand didn't go through his phone completely and was temporarily merged with the device sent him into a very painful frenzy - this caused an accelerated development of his ability, in which he could now extend intangibility to his whole body. Only Haruka knew of his power, and they swore to each other to keep this a secret between themselves.

As the boys became older, his parents felt that they couldn't bring them along on their business trips, depriving them the need of a normal school education and social interaction with kids of their age: they would be now placed under the care of their aunt - Asami's younger sister - Akemi Shinoda, who lived in America, specifically the Chinatown area in Verthaven.

Shizuka can phase through solid matter and objects by passing his molecules through the spaces between the particles of the object which he is moving through. As such, he and the object that he's going through may temporarily merge without interacting; each was unharmed when he has finished passing through the object. (This is somewhat similar to the process of quantum tunneling.)

• Limited Intangibility Extension --- He can extend his ability to the clothes he's wearing and any object in his possession at the moment. At current level he can also expand the phasing power to a maximum of two people at each time. In order for this to work, he has to maintain direct physical contact with the person or thing he's phasing along with.
• Non-Corporeal Physiology --- While in phased state, he is practically untouchable. His thoughts also becomes highly erratic, which makes it difficult to establish telepathic connection with his mind.
• Electronic Disruption --- Although he can pass through pretty much any material object (including living people), when he phases through an object with an electrical system, the process can disrupt the system's workings, causing it to malfunction.

Limits:

Phasing Limitations

• Shizuka is unable to breathe while he's passing through the object (i.e. walking through walls), so he can phase continuously only for as long as he can hold his breath.
• The denser the material is, the harder and slower for him to pass through. Forcing himself to phase through objects of higher density can cause him undesirable pain, at times also injuring himself. Adding to the point above, he is unable to phase continuously through denser objects for a prolonged period of time without putting a lot of physical and mental stress onto himself.
• Solidifying while in an object (applies to both partially i.e. his limbs, and fully aka his whole body) or switching off his ability before he has passed through the object completely may inflict serious injury - in worst case scenario, death.

Weaknesses/Drawbacks:

• Shizuka's "natural" state is solid; he has to concentrate in order to slip into a phased state. Disrupting the concentration would cause him to revert back to solid state.
• His power only extends to phasing through atom-matter objects (including water and air), and it does not give him energy immunity. Hence, he can still be subjected to, say, fire- and lightning-based attacks.
• In phased state he gains telepathic resistance, but it does not completely erase his presence and he can still be detected by experienced clairvoyants.
• Lead and Bismuth. Although he can phase through almost any solid matter, this two of the densest stable elements on Earth are pretty much a bane on his body. It's uncertain whether he would be able to phase through them at all, but he has zero intention to test that out, ever. As far as he's concerned, trying to pass through those two is equivalent to a normal human trying to walk through a solid wall.

He has pretty much given up trying to straighten the mop of jet-black mess on his head, leaving it in a state that transits between flyaway to simply unkempt. He wears a pair of half-rimmed spectacles over his dark brown eyes that often seem glassy and lost, giving him a permanent bored look. He has similar heart-shaped, androgynous face and thin lips like Shizuka, but he does not have any beauty marks.

Attire:

Haruka absolutely loves suits and uniforms, but he has enough sense not to wear them except for occasions that warrant such formality. Normally he wears smart-casual clothes - such as a sweater over a dress shirt or turtleneck, a pair of straight-cut jeans, ending with Chelsea boots.

Personality

On the outside, Haruka is an odd airhead - he is rather oblivious to his surroundings and always seems to be lost in his own thoughts, preferring to work at his own pace. It can be difficult to start a conversation and/or keep it going with him, for he pays little to no attention to the ongoing discussion and instead let his mind drifts off to things that interest him more, sometimes he may suddenly change the topic at random which would confuse the rest, or leave the group without prior warning. He often appears to be aloof and downright blunt with a slight air of haughtiness, which makes it harder for most people to approach him.

Inwardly, his heart is like it's made of glass - an emotional, sensitive person and a big softie, he trusts people too readily and then gets depressed easily when he's been betrayed, much to Shizuka's woe. As such, his younger twin becomes overly protective of him, and in turn he relies too much on his brother, developing a hidden possessive streak for Shizuka.

Hobbies/Interests:

As opposed to Shizuka's hyperactiveness, Haruka prefers to sink into his chair and only move when necessary. Unable to make long-lasting friendship with peers of his age due to the family being on constant move, he seeks refuge by losing himself in the fictional worlds of books. While his brother is out sweating himself in sports, the older twin would lurk in local libraries and bookstores, burying himself among the piles of musty old volumes.

Besides reading, Haruka is also into orchestral music; the flute is the longest instrument he has been practising on, because he likes the soothing tone of it.

History:

Like his twin Shizuka, Haruka was born in Kamakura, Japan; together with his family he had been traveling across the world throughout his childhood days, which unfortunately did more harm than good to him: unlike the independent and hardy younger brother, Haruka was neglected the need to develop interpersonal skills, resulting in him unable to find a foothold for himself when communicating with strangers. Coupled with his over-dependence on Shizuka (whom he felt was probably the only one in the world to understand him) had caused a hidden, twisted form of affection for his twin; his utmost respect for Shizuka was what kept him from stepping over to the immoral side. I can't really envision this... Like, pale and tan (even if it's slight) are opposites. Two different ends of the spectrum. And you're saying that he's both. lol

Yeah, I still have problems with a 17-year old sadist. It's just... eh.

I think the power could use some actual weaknesses. These are more of limits (In fact, I don't know why you merged the limits with the weaknesses/drawbacks because they're two different things). I can come up with something, but it's a lil' late.

I don't really like to argue with people unnecessarily. Not only it's a waste of time and effort, I think it's better for everyone to try to get along rather than going around spreading hate.

I'll be honest, I don't know enough about Chinese characters to answer your question. In-universe, the Vuhong surname is something Lihua came up with to help cover her tracks.
