Wild Whimsicott Appeared! What Will Roleplayer Do?
-Check
You spot Whimsicott. Peering at it, you are able to infer a few things. First of all, it appears to be searching for fellow roleplayers. Not just anyone will do. In fact, Whimsicott seems like it's looking only for players who are already have a good deal of experience under their belt. It doesn't have to be roleplaying; as long as one is fairly confident in their writing skills, they can easily handle anything that's thrown at them. Proper grammar and the like are all mandatory, but typos and bad days are nothing to be ashamed of. Whimsicott isn't the harshest critic, either, it would just prefer to play with people that have similar writing and creative ability. You can tell that Whimsicott has only been roleplaying for 6 years. As long as you pretty much have the fundamentals of the English language down, Whims will be happy to play with you!
At second glance, you realize Whimsicott is kind of a dork, but worry not! Under normal circumstances, Whims will not refer to themselves in the third person. The melodramatic format of their interest check was simply because they couldn't seem to get inspired to type an interest check until things got freaky. If you venture to engage this monster, you must be prepared for an onslaught of puns, dark humor, character development, and world building. Though Whims is all for being your friend, they value their privacy and will protect it with their life! Aside from letting you know they operate on Pacific Standard Time, they will not disclose any personal information whatsoever such as age, sex, email, etc, and will hope you can understand. It goes without saying that you will not be prodded for any sensitive information, either, and the only things that determine if you're a fun partner is writing ability, creative skill, and general civility.
Whimsicott is blunt, and if they feel that the roleplay isn't to their tastes, they will tell you. The outcome can range from starting over with a completely revamped or original plot, or parting ways. It would be very much appreciated if you have lost interest, you notify them so. Communication is vital to collaboration, after all. Their general experience had been limited to the fantasy and SciFi genres. It appears that Whims likes the ability to simultaneously explore the characters and have action-packed adventures. Roleplays must also be balanced, with appropriate amounts of grit, fluff, emotion, imagery, and whatever else needs to be done in order to make the story compelling and real. If you plan to kill off a character, then make sure both you and Whims have reason to feel anything at all for the character- if there's anything that will put off Whimsicott the most, it's when the character are nothing but puppets or worse- avatars for the players themselves. While there is no shame in liking these aspects of roleplaying, if this is what you're searching for, Whimsicott is most definitely not the right match for you.
Post length is irrelevant, as any well-written post will flow and be fun to read. A 'good' post could range from anything to a short paragraph where one character is responding to a conversation, to pages and pages of describing a new setting. If whims ever has a problem, they will attempt to talk it out, and they can only hope you'll do the same. Roleplays can take the form of either PMs or threads, with PMs being cozier and threads offering better organization capability. Generally, Whimsicott won't do character sheets and opt to create short writeups to serve as character references, but this is mainly because they suck at finding pictures, real life or anime. The small amount of players allows for much creative freedom, as all the typical rules are in place such as the prohibitions of godmodding, powermodding, or the existence of a Gary Stu unless- you two have come to an agreement. In fact, with the amount of freedom present, Whimsicott expects you to be able to contribute to the world building process with well-written characters, unique settings, your own plot twists, etc. Whims will do their best to keep things interesting, but you must do the same!
It is preferred for both of you to be controlling a reasonable amount of characters to make the world feel alive, if the plot allows. Less significant side characters should be able to be controlled by either player, as to not slow the story down any more then necessary. As fr as pacing goes, Whimsicott unfortunately has a very erratic and unreliable schedule. As a result, posts could take as short as an hour, to as long as a week, or perhaps longer. Don't fret, as Whims intends to keep long-term partners and will generally keep partners updated when life becomes particularly hectic. As far as mature content is concerned, Whimsicott maintains a 'whatever' attitude, where they're willing to cater and sometimes it's a key plot point, and other times it's forced and untimely. Fade-to-black is typically the preferred method, but if it's important to you, it'll be important to Whimsicott, as well.
On that note, Whimsicott prefers MxM romances, though if the plot is intriguing enough, they are also willing to double up with both an MxM and a MxF or FxF. While romance can bring a lot of fun to the roleplay, Whimsicott is more concerned with developing a strong and fun story, and would prefer not to have any forced relationships. If there is an element of romance present, it will be because the characters want it to happen, not just the players. Whimsicott is sure you've experienced that breakthrough moment where your characters begin to think for themselves. Because it is expected that each player is controlling a minimum of two characters, many relationships will be platonic, but that doesn't by any means make them weaker or insignificant. Whimsicott is well aware many 1x1 roleplays are primarily catered toward romance, but personally they can't really invest into relationships unless they have a reason to care about the characters. They need to go through events and have goals, whether it's 'find a way to maintain ownership of a family estate' to 'on the hunt for a new outfit'.
All in all, when dealing with Whimsicott it's important to maintain flexibility and an open mind, as well as your wits and every skill bestowed upon you by the Story Spirits. And in case you were wondering if Whimsicott fits YOUR standards, they have cut some visions from the past.

Context: In the midst of an exam, a mage who draws powers from grimoires, books that contain souls of subdued monsters, hatches a plan with a potential ally.
A physical lightning mage? That was definitely new. Many magics were tactile in nature, but lightning and the other elemental abilities were conventionally used at a range. They were definitely more effective in most situations, but if Haine was inexperienced in throwing lightning, he didn't feel comfortable being around while he was still getting into the swing of things. "That's alright. Stheno's been used for generations, and there's no single correct way to use her magic. It's all preference. As long as it gets the job done, what's the difference if you hypnotize your enemies or turn them to stone? And it's different. I guess different is alright sometimes." Smiling as he spoke, Honu's eyes followed the stray sparks that escaped the other boy's hair. Eyeing the red mark that the magic left on the other's pale skin, he was about to voice his concern, but Haine managed to pipe up first.
The lightning mage certainly liked to ramble! It didn't bother him, though. It meant he didn't have to speak as much, and Honu was used to listening to his family go on and on and on about anything from the last movie they watched to that one time they had sealed away rogue mages to the bottom of the ocean. Besides, Haine wasn't just speaking just to chat. He would be more concerned and on his guard if he had to work together with someone he knew nothing about. Was there anything Haine needed to know about him? He supposed grimoire mages were fairly rare but well-known, but there were a few things that Stheno did that was a little different from other monsters.
"Hm, so I'm gonna hope you know this already, but be careful of hitting Stheno with your attacks." Holding out the hefty book and stepping closer to show the lightning mage the source of his magic, Honu carefully balanced it on the crook of his elbow and opened it to a seemingly random page. The paper was tough and bronzed with age. On the page was a magic circle with serpents embedded onto it, written with some kind of ink. "It takes a lot to break a grimoire. Matter o' fact, I'll probably use her as a shield every now and then only because it can absorb any spell the original monster could. And the gorgons were known for their impenetrable scales as well as their snakes and ugliness. But if you hit it with one of your bolts, she might get angry and try to retaliate. She don't like being hit with enemy attacks, either, but she'll be caught off guard if an ally does it."

Context: After angering a demon, an aspiring enlisted agent is transformed from a girl to a boy. S/He goes out to the forest to practice violin.
As he zipped open his violin case in order to find the enchanted envelope he had bought from the nearby magic shop, Blair couldn't help but be afraid. It wasn't as if he had just been cursed all of a sudden. The curse never would have been placed on him if he hadn't run away in the first place. There really was no way to blame his parents. There was no way he was going to go home the way he was, even if it meant bawling like an infant at night due to his homesickness. The last thing he wanted to do was let his parents think he was dead, but what else could he do? It wasn't as if he could just show up and inform his parents that now they had a son- all those dresses WERE refundable, correct?
Tucking away notebook, pen, and envelope, the violinist stood up and stretched, then took out his violin. The acoustics in the forest were amazing, plus he needed to forget himself. Catching the moon in the corner of his eye, he immediately knew what to play. Lifting the bow to the strings and leaning against the tree, he began to slowly drag it across. The song was Moonlight Serenade. It was very popular not too long ago, and was composed by the prodigy, Melody Sanctum. Granted, Sanctum wasn't nearly as great as the classic composers Blair had studied like D. M. Conch or Sir Vandervale, but she was on her way to be. That is, until she mysteriously disappeared. Among the musical society, there rose dark rumors that she was killed by an ex-lover, or ran away to Pergrande. Either way, no one had heard from or about her in a while.
Still, Blair thought with a smile, her music lived on.

-Gaze Into The Future
You focus your own magic. You already are well-aware of Whimsicott's preferences, and have some amazing ideas of your own, but they would like to show you what they have so far. On a side note, Whims is excited by the opportunity for a small group roleplay (1x1x1, etc) where the same expectations of a normal 1x1 are in place, namely the amount of freedom and the easy progression that comes with less restraints. These quick synopses are written with the intention of an MxM roleplay, but if you;re more interested in a platonic roleplay, just disregard pronouns.

There is a mountain, which on either side is a rural town. Each town is unique from the other, though they are both pleasant places where everyone knows each other, and most people tend to leave to the cities once they reach adulthood. The only way to traverse between the two towns is a three-hour trek across the mountains, but because the two towns are so hostile to each other, the only ones who make the trip are messengers and postal workers, as well as traveling merchants. The citizens themselves are civil enough to each other, and they have never been in a war of the traditional kind. However, once every month, on the night of the full moon, both villages gather on the peak of the mountain to challenge each other- in a battle of cooking! Unbeknownst to outsiders, though not kept a secret, the mountain is home to many faries and spirits who only reveal themselves during the full moon to eat the dishes that were created for them. The faries then choose a winner between the two towns, and bestow upon them a gift. This could be anything from a treasure that was taken from the mountain spring, to a blessing of rainfall. This roleplay will feature the dynamic of each village, though we will focus on only our characters and them working to find rare ingredients to create magical dishes to appease the spirits with. Though it will start out fairly slice-of-life, there's a lot of room for drama and side plots.
