[IC] Pokémon Hoenn: α and Ω

Lance wasn't sure if he would join the pokemon contest, he was never the artistic type. "Hey guys I think I will sit this one out, but I would like to see what you come up with in the contest" Lance said, while Liam and Shiranui was occupied he took some time to train his pokemon.

Khuda was out in the field training her mankey. She had encountered a seedot and her man key accepted the challenge of this fight without a moment to dally. She nodded and the fight begain, and she showed her skill in combat. Her monkey, maneuvered like a Champ, dodging, jumping and countering, but it quickly became apparent he only knew focus energy and scratch. She one the battle with her pokemon having minor injuries before she turned her attention. Near her she would notice Shiranui. Surprised and excited to meet a trainer she rushed towards him.
"Hey! Are you from around here?"

"No, I'm not a local," Shiranui answered, "The name's Shiranui Tsukiko of Ecruteak City and this is my contest partner Zoro." The Zorua with him let out a greeting cry before doing a small front flip and donning a Mankey illusion.

The Manley glared at him with a face of true anger. Apparently it didn't sit well with the pig monkey that he was being mimiced. Regardless, his focus changed when the girl put her hand on his head and ruffled the fur. "Oh, sorry, just trying to get directions is all. My James khuda, but call me what you want. This guy here is named enkidu, and respectively" she said with a bit of a snicker at her last comment.

"So where are you going?" Shiranui asked, steering the conversation back on track as Zoro dropped the Mankey illusion.

"Well, to the gym...but I think I need to train a bit first" She said in a rather unsure way. Her brow furrowed as she spoke. Her mankey looked at her with confusion. "I mean, I only have one pokemon and all, I don't really know how to catch any"

"Catching a Pokémon is quite simple," stated Shiranui, "What you need to do is find the wild Pokémon you want to capture, weaken it in battle and throw a Poké Ball at it. There is a chance the captured Pokémon would break free, but you can improve your odds of a successful capture by using a specialised Poké Ball or inflicting a status condition on your target.

"Your Mankey may have a type advantage at the Rustboro Gym since Rock-type Pokémon are weak against Fighting-type attacks, but you will need to train both it and any Pokémon you catch as well; as a gym leader's Pokémon can be tough to beat. I suggest you teach it Low Kick as it is powerful against heavy foes. Any questions?"

Liam felt he was ready and went to the Hall. Joy stopped him on the way and gave him special clothes to wear. (The contest costume from OR/AS) Liam went and changed into the special suit and went backstage.

Khuda nodded to him, understanding what he said, mention the fighting type made her slouch a little at her own lack of preformance. She had not been able to teach him any fighting moves, or even any new moves in general. She could only make him use focus energy and scratch, and the pokemon would use Leer when ever it felt like it. She did think over teaching the monkey low sweep, she would just need to find out how.
"I do have a question...how do you teach a pokemon new moves?"

"One way is to use a TM or HM," answered Shiranui, showing Khuda a disc that had the Brick Break move, "Another way is to train with a lot of patience. Sometimes a Pokémon can learn a move on their own, but a good trainer would help them practice their moves. To teach your Mankey Low Kick, have it aim low and trip the opponent. Zoro, show them what I mean." Zoro then donned the Mankey illusion again and motioned a sweeping kick at Shiranui, gently striking his leg. "Of course, the real Low Kick is done with a much harder kick. The bottom line is you and your Pokémon need to have a close bond."

Liam saw a lot of co-ordinators that were looking around, some looked tense, others looked nervous. Liam then decided to sit down and began to polish the ball which held the Pokémon he was going to use.

Lance walked into the contest hall, he went back stage and met up with Liam. "Goodluck and do your best, i'll be watching" Lance said giving him a thumbs up.

She watched in awe, looking to the disc in surprise. She would have to get one, they seem super useful to her. She watched patiently as he demonstrated while her pokemon figited and mumbled. Hearing his last words she smiled. She knew she had a great connection with her pokemon, he asked to come with her after all. Any pokemon that would be better than her deciding from a starter was a true friend to her. "Thank you sir! I'll get right to work on that!"

"Glad to hear it," replied Shiranui, "I'll be competing in the local Pokémon Contest if you're interested in watching. Sayonara." With that, Shiranui and Zoro left for the contest hall.

Shiranui managed to register in time and instead of donning the regular contest costume, he opted for traditional ninja garb. He made a silent entrance to the backstage area and saw Liam and Lance. "Hey guys," he greeted.

"Hey Shiranui, do your best out there, i'll be watching" Lance said leaving the backstage, he then went and found a 2nd row seat.

"Thanks," replied Shiranui.

"Hey." Liam acknowledged. He looked at his friend's garb. "I would have been surprised if you were anything else." Liam replied.
A blue haired women was on center stage and introduced herself as Vivian, MC of contests in Hoenn. She introduced the judges for the contest, Director of the Contest Committee, Mr. Raoul Contesta
"Greetings everyone!"
"The President of the Pokémon Fan Club Committee, Mr. Sukizo
"Rustborro is remarkable!, and the local Nurse Joy
"Hello everyone, let's have a good show."

The jumbotron vegan to show the co-ordinators and their appeals. When it was Liam's turn he took the stage. Once the cheers subsided, Liam began. He grasped the ball in his left hand.
"Grimm! Let's get it started!" Liam tossed the ball into the air and a Dusclops emerged. "Will O Wisp!" Small flames appeared above each finger tip. Grimm then compressed into two balls and began to juggle briefly before tossing them into the air. "Now, Charge Beam into Psychic!" Grimm sent a blast of electricity into the descending balls of fire, causing an explosion that made countless particles rain down. Grimm then grabbed them with Psychic and spun them into the appearance of a spiral galaxy.

It was now Shiranui's turn and he made his entrance in a cloud of smoke. "Kitsune, it's ninja time!" Shiranui sent out his Ninetales (Zoro in illusion) and the illusionist used Sunny Day to simulate the Drought ability. "Incinerate straight up!" The disguised Zorua launched a searing flame straight up and it formed into a ring. "Ninjutsu Art of Transformation and follow it up with Rain Dance!" The Ninetales jumped through the fiery ring and rain started to fall, extinguishing the ring. In the steam that issued forth, Zoro switched illusions and out of the steam came a Goodra that stood in the midst of the rain. "Use Hidden Power and follow it with Grass Knot!" A salvo of six balls of energy was conjured and fired into the air. Zoro conjured a grass rope and struck them like a whip complete with whip cracks. "Now for the finale! Ninjutsu Art of Transformation!" Zoro jumped into the air and spun around until the illusion changed to an Aegislash in Shield Forme. "Double Team and Swords Dance!" One Aegislash became two and they both showed off various sword fighting techniques. "Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball and follow it up with Aerial Ace!" After simulating the Stance Change ability, one Aegislash conjured a Shadow Ball and the other conjured a Dark Pulse, throwing them into the air. The swords flew at the other's attack and at the apex of their throw, the Aerial Aces hit their target, causing an explosion of smoke. Somersaulting down out of the smoke was Zoro, this time out of Illusion. The Zorua landed on all fours and let out a cry. "Let's hear it for Zoro the Illusionist!" The audience applauded and the judges soon put in their two Pokédollars.

"What an excellent display of moves befitting the illusions!"
"Remarkable!"
"Your Zorua can fool just about anyone with those displays!"
