This seems interesting— followed someone from off-topic here but this reeks of Twin Peaks, American Gothic, and other sort of “little town, big problems” shtick. I notice this is always accepting? If you want a player who also likes DARK and DEPRESSING ideas and likes the two shows I mentioned, where do I start here and what’s the posting pace look like?

We're always open to anything that makes the RP more interesting. Haha
If you're not sure of where to start, there's a list of NPC characters that have been mentioned in posts if you want to take a look at that. In the first post of the Characters tab. Those are all free to adopt as your own. :]
@Gowi Some people are in exams so the pace is slow, if you don't mind a slow-paced roleplay. It's currently day 2, Wednesday, 3PM. Once you make a character, we can help get you situated and tell you the noteworthy moments that has happened so far.
I’ll take a deeper look, yeah. I’m just wondering where we are at with RP requirements, pacing, etc. because I'm in a few RP's but would like to balance this in.
@Gowi I'm in many roleplays :D Secrets is a non-stressful roleplay :3 as long as you keep us posted with your life, rather than taking a hiatus with out us knowing, we're all good. We are a casual to high casual roleplay, most of us writing over four paragraphs. People get in at least one post a week or so. Unless they're working on a collab. Sometimes, there are busy weeks but not as of recently because people are busy busy bees. Things can get DARK so yeah. The Reese family is a walking shitshow. Once you get a small glimpse of happiness, it's ruined quite quickly. xDD Anything else?
@Gowi Yeah, that's more than enough. I'm even okay with two-three paragraphs. I'm a person who likes quality over quantity so as long as you make a good post, we're good. Just don't be afraid to interact with people.
Some individuals have a hard time throwing themselves in situations. It's all about taking risks and who knows? You might be part of a monumental scene in the roleplay. Of course, everything must be done with in reason. If there's shit going down in the mall but your character has no reason to go to the mall, then that's just a scene you'll have to live without and make things happen elsewhere.
I just wanted to let everyone know Prom is this weekend so I will not be on during the weekend. I'll really try to get a post in tomorrow but I also have a birthday party so we'll see. Also, IB exams are coming up and I'm going on vacation in a few weeks so I'm going to be a little inactive but I'll try my best :) Sorry for the trouble!
Miriam is a girl who has a quiet, but warm charming look to her appearance with dark black hair and gray-blue eyes. To put it simply, Miriam holds subtle if melancholy expressions as a standard which has gotten many people to presume that she is depressed, antisocial, or odd. When it comes to her preferences in appearance she is much like her physique— modest, unassuming, and simple. She finds little sense in overzealous fashion and due to her lower income-based childhood she finds little reason to change now. You will find her clinging to the same shirts, jackets, hats, pants, and skirts she stuck to in high school.
Position
Neighbor // The Pryde Residence

School
Millington High School [Graduated]
Occupation
Record Store Clerk
Personality
Miriam has “girl next door” written all over her from her head to her feet. A quiet yet kind girl, her siblings believe her to be impossible to make spiteful or angry. Though despite her amusingly long fuse it is clear that she does have emotions and feelings as much can be heard by her output through her music. Though as much as she is kind, tolerant, and supportive— Miriam is introverted, fearful, and sad beyond her facade of surface appearances; but she doesn’t view that she wants to burden anyone with the knowledge she isn’t completely happy on the inside as it would do more harm than it is good. Additionally, Miriam has a sort of quirky sense of humor that while it rarely comes out due to her lack of a “real” social life does exist— of which can be occasionally heard in her lyrics.
As aforementioned, Miriam’s has a passion for music and this goes beyond her own songwriting but also on sounds she surrounds herself to cope with her inner feelings— sometimes going into a solitary safe zone in her closet with a pair of headphones and a blanket. Perhaps it is a point that due to her lack of a huge group of friends, no romantic relationships, and a lack of social aspirations that she connects with music in the way that she does. Her siblings say she is talented in “playing, singing, and knowing”. Whilst she is far from a music critic or historian, she has poured over books and articles to give her a comprehensive understand of her preferred styles and groups of artists who inspire her as well as comfort her. If there was no music, Miriam would not know what to do.
Due to her father’s sense of overbearing safety, Miriam has been taught with how to defend herself with fist or handgun— a fact that may seem odd given her demeanor and appearance. Her small frame might strike a bit harder than whoever attacks her may presume. Though despite this “training” Miriam is not privy to handguns, she doesn’t like holding them and she certainly doesn’t care for shooting them; the same extends to brawling. But if the fight is forced out of her, perhaps she may find herself thinking differently.
Short Bio
Miriam was born in Millington eighteen years ago, the third of a bundle of six. But much like many families in Millington, the Pryde Family had a legacy although small.
Established in 1972 by her grandfather, Theodore Pryde Sr., Pryde Records started as an enterprise to produce records in the Millington area to be the voice of a booming west coast brand of country-tinged folk, soul, and blues artists that became prominent in the area. Much like Muscle Shoals in Alabama— there was a sound and a recipe for art blooming in this small town. However, that legacy would not last forever— a fact that became obvious long before Miriam’s birth when the “peak” of the Millington Sound and Pryde Records ended around 1985. But while Pryde Records became less relevant it did not go bankrupt nor did the Pryde family end up with nothing. A fact that would be fortunate by the time Miriam was born and her grandfather was on his last legs.
The fading enterprise of her family’s business always in the background, Miriam tried to focus optimistically on the present as her childhood passed her by— the contents of it as mundane as any other. Following High School she ended up a full-time employee at the family business. As she sells records during her regular shift she tries to move through life one day at a time.
Theodore “Ted” Pryde, Jr: The patriarch of the family, and Miriam’s father— runs the family business, a music studio and record store called Pryde Records; a small independent outfit. The business hasn’t been run very well following the murder of Ted’s brother, Jim, fifteen years ago. The business is currently profitable but not to so much that the Pryde family lives in luxury.
Rebecca Pryde (ne. Jamieson): Miriam’s mother— works at the studio/store as a manager.
Jeremiah Pryde: Miriam’s eldest brother, works with his parents at Pryde Records.
Jeffery “Jeff” Pryde: Miriam’s second oldest brother and a waiter at “Giovanni’s Italian Restaurant”, went to college for the culinary arts and is trying to move up the ladder.
Jessica Pryde: Miriam’s younger sister, a junior in High School.
Alexander Pryde: Miriam’s younger brother, a freshman in High School.
Edward “Eddie” Pryde: Miriam’s youngest brother, is in the seventh grade.
