Between slowed perception and violin playing. I can't have both, it would be overpowered
There is nothing to choose between. Playing a violin isn't a power, its a skill. Like being able to play the piano or cook really well.
You don't have to choose between the two because your power is channeled through music. You USE your violin to activate your power. And even still, your power isn't tied to the violin. You could probably have the same effect if ur character played a piano or a flute. You could still alter perception through the music you were playing, no matter what instrument it was. Though, I suppose, u would only use the violin since thats the only instrument, as far as we know, that your character can play really well. The proficiency of your power may depend on how well you play an instrument. So it would probably be weaker in potency if u played it with an instrument u were very unfamiliar with like a trombone. lol I imagine his power works on the psionic level, psionic manipulation of the pleasure sensors in the brain that react to a pleasurable stimulus that is melodious, like music.
But the nature of certain powers have several applications. Like Telekinesis. And your power doesn't seem really OP at all so as long as you don't abuse it. If anything, its more situational. And that fact that u have to use an instrument or something that can create music as a source of power is also a limitation and further implies how un OP it is. So if someone broke your violin, u'd be fucked. :P But being able to entrance, lure, and blast them with music as I described in my last post, doesn't seem very op. As long as u dont abuse it. It should be fine.
Sorry, I probably seem like im getting worked up! LOL But I LOVE music based abilities and fighting styles and what not, so I really hope you stick wit that concept cause I LOVE it! LOL
