“Go slowly, my lovely moon, go slowly."
Name:
Vaegwen Ni’Tessine
Nicknames/Title:
Vae
The Huntress
Lady Vaegwen
Age:
Appears mid-twenties, is a little over 500 years old.
Gender:
Female
Race:
Elven
Sexuality:
Heterosexual, most times.
Magic:
Performs a combination of Bratus-Sanctus Magic.
Is able to call the dead to her side to aide in a fight. Can call up to three spirits at a time before it becomes too taxing and she begins to weaken. However, the length of time she can call the three spirits is not limited. She could possibly go up to hours before she begins to feel the drain.
Moon Magic, is the ability to call on the light of the moon itself to turn it into weaponry.
-Moon magic is a type of magic that her particular race of Elves (In human’s term it is called Moon-Fae) practice. It is the ability to call on the moon and its light to fashion weapons out of it. The larger the weapon, the more draining it is. Vae is particularly talented at fashioning a bow and arrow and short daggers.
-The weapons appear almost translucent, silvery in form with a sort of glimmer to them. They are tough and pliable. Resistant to most magic attacks but can be shattered by an enchanted weapon. When the weapon is destroyed it bursts into a shimmery powder that fades into nothing. If the weapon is damaged it can be repaired, however.
Water manipulation, due to her inherent ancestry with Moon Magic she has the innate ability to control water. She can transmute water into ice and back again. Because of the two linking magics she can feel storms are coming, but cannot control them.
Strengths:
Her strongest time is during the night and it grows with the full moon. When her strength is at its peak her Moon Magic’s durability nearly doubles. The weapons become much less prone to break. During a full moon they actually lose most of the translucency, they look almost like a normal steel or metal weapon.
She is quite skilled when it comes to archery and short blades. Technically, she can go from a long distance fighter to hand-to-hand in a matter of seconds if she has enough magic to change between the two.
She is very adept at calling the spirits of her ancestors. Moon-Fae are very tapped into their lineage so it is not uncommon to see one of her kind able to contact the dead of their kind with little to no effort. Her race believe that power comes from their history, their lineage.
Weaknesses:
Her weakest times is during the day, obviously, and during a new moon. During a new moon and the day her Moon Magic is useless. She can’t even use water as a resource. During that time she is forced solely to rely on her ability to call spirits and even weapons made from actual metal.
During a new moon, the Moon-Fae become almost frenzied. During this time the veil to the Underworld is very thin and the dead are known to come to the Moon-Fae seeking help in some form or fashion. They become overbearing and can even become violent. There are normally special wards set in place to help protect her people. It is not uncommon, however, for her people to disappear for the night. Most times they can be found in the woods amongst the beasts, running free or laying within a body of free running water such a stream or river.
Catalyst: Vae wears a double looped band on her forearm. It is silver in color but it is made from an unknown metal. It is cold, almost freezing, to the touch to anyone who is not Moon-Fae. To one of her race it is warm and soothing. There is a two small purple crystal-like stones in each band. Vae refers to it as “The Mother’s Tears”. Each Moon-Fae creates their own in some form when they come of age. It is a sin amongst her people to steal another’s catalyst.
Other Skills:
She is actually very in tune with nature. Not so much on a magical level but it is because her people live simple lives. They generally live in secluded cities where they live off the land and hunt and grow their own food. In that same retrospect she is easily able to connect with animals. She can even charm them to coming to her. It is not uncommon to see her with some wild animal about the school grounds.
She is a master archer due to her being a skilled hunter back in her village.
Is a wonderful cook and skilled seamstress.
Has a bit of a green thumb. Tends to a small rose garden that she has growing outside of her window in a small suspended trough. The roses have over spilled the initial trough and have started growing partially down the wall.
Inventory:
Carries a short dagger on her left thigh, always wearing her catalyst. Will carry her bow and arrow during the time of the new moon when her Moon Magic is weakest. Is normally quite resourceful so doesn’t carry much with her around the school grounds unless necessary.
Familiar:
N/A
Personality:
Vae is not what one would call cold, but she is not the kindest person you will meet. She is generally pretty reserved and does not like large groups of people. When she is comfortable with someone she opens up much more to them. She is snarky but straight forward. Her race believes in the truth, no matter how brutal or blunt it may be. Vae is not very good when it comes to modern advancements and technology since her people lived a more medieval lifestyle so she generally stays away from such things. Is not quick to trust. Is very patient, however, and has some part of her that is always wanting to protect those who may need it.
Backstory:
Vae grew up like any normal Moon-Fae child, in the secluded village amongst her kind. Outsiders were very rarely welcomed and travel to the outside world that was not another Moon-Fae village was few and far in between. Her particular village had been housed within a great and ancient forest, one that has sadly long since been lost. In that forest she learned all of the skills that she has today. Technically, amongst her people Vae is considered nobility; her lineage dating back to that of a king.
Her people are savage fighters and are known to aide Elven-allied brethren in battle if the call were to occur. By the time she was 50 human years she had seen many a battle. When she was roughly 200 years old her village was ransacked during the time of the new moon. Almost all of her village was slaughtered by the enemies that had come swiftly in the night. A small group and herself had escaped and sought refuge at an allied Moon-Fae village.
The slaughter of her family and friends had changed something in side of her and ultimately caused her to leave the safety of her people. She began to travel the young world. There are quite a few gray years that Vae disappeared, roughly 7 or so. She does not speak of those years but she does admit that it was a time of great pain and suffering. One far beyond the time of losing her village. When Vae returned she was aged beyond her years and seemed much more a recluse than what her people already were. During the time that she had been absent a war had broken out between the very race of elves that had slaughtered her village. Wanting retribution for the horror her kind had saw she assisted on the battle field and won many battles due to her savagery. After the war had subsided she took a seat amongst the Elven council for a time where she became an ambassador to the Moon-Fae race.
It was during this time that she had been recruited to come to the school to help teach other Moon-Fae elves who had found their way to the school. With the modern times came the modernization of newer generations of her people. She teaches other minor studies but does not generally have large classes. When she does teach the groups are generally small and intimate, such is because she is stuck in her old ways.
