Kain didn't even spare a thought to consider it, it was just too convenient...
At the heights of his anger and frustration, as he yelled over the deafening alarms with coarse lungs at the fumbling helpless scattering nurses and other useless cowering staff, Sarah was suddenly there.
Having fallen from his bed, Kain lay awkwardly on the floor. The two paused as he got caught in her eyes and they shared a short excited smile.
Perhaps she was collecting her stuff, returned due to the alarm or was simply defying instructions, Kain didn't care. He needn't tell her what his commotion was regarding either, she spoke the words he was thinking.
"Metal suit, out side, let's go get it!"
She had a sweet innocent excitement like a bored child about to play a game. As before, he was drawn in to it.
A short aided stumbling moment later Kain and Sarah were in her small hatchback screaming around a corner and flying down a dead end alleyway.
Unknown energy blast at the car denting and destroying it. Sarah squealed and closed her eyes as the windscreen shattered.
Sparks flew up from the side of the car as it hit into and ran alongside the brick wall.
Kain wasn't sure if it was him or Sarah that continued to accelerate the car, he used his powers to keep rebuilding and replacing a small protective barrier he put up at the front as blast after blast tore it away.
Suddenly Sarah's scream reached the peak of its crescendo as the car ran out of alleyway and came to an abrupt sudden violent crashing stop.
The smoke, steam and dust slowly settled. Kain could see blood on the crumpled dashboard. He wasn't sure who's it was.
Sarah! He turns to look at her, she was alive and moving. The bridge of her nose looked broken and both eyes were black, blood trickled down and around her mouth, she looked dazed or concussed but the damn girl still smiled.
Even after just running a man down.
Kain soon realised he couldn't move. His pain was overwhelming. He couldn't even tell what hurt anymore or where it was hurting! His entire body was consumed by just one intense ache.
It made him feel nauseous, dizzy, everything was blurry.
But he could feel something. A distracting thought that held him to. There was a present amongst the tattered crushed metal of the car, and then there was also the metal suit he was looking for.
With a feeble uninspiring moan Kain used his powers to clear a path between himself and the man in the robotic suit. The front parts of the damaged car folded and rolled away leaving just the robotic mans torso free and exposed from the wreck.
Kain sat still buckled in the passenger seat overlooking the helpless injured enemy laying just beneath him.
Woozy, Kain drifted away and things momentarily went black. An unknown amount of time passed and Kain panicked as his eyes shot open. He was soon relieved to find things were luckily still as he left them.
Wasting no more time Kain reached down and touched the damaged high tech armour. Slowly it came to him, crawling off its current owner to climb over Kain. It was like it was alive, an animal choosing it's favoured owner. The man lay helpless managing only to discharge sparks and groans as Kain slowly took it all and replaced its previous host.
What happened next still confuses and hurts Kain's mind to think about or try recall. Instead he ignores it. He had spoke his own words to the near naked man.
"I applaud your efforts, and your timing was impeccable! I thank you for that." Those words were spoken with pauses for pain and genuine intent.
"But you are but a menacing scum that I cannot afford to be inconvenienced by later. As far as menacing scum go, there are plenty more 'less personally attached' to help develop my team."
In his own hand he found a heavy gun. A present from the car. Although Sarah was belted to her seat concussed he felt her confident guiding presence, he heard words that he knows she didn't speak.
"Do it" they whispered.
'BANG! BANG!'
And so he did. Kain put two bullets into the helpless mans stomach then repaired the car enough to drive back to base and leave the man there to die.
Feeling reinvigorated by the metal flowing all over him Kain had no issue using his powers to direct the car back to base. In no time he secured Sarah in a safe looking room and was stomping about offering what aid he could.
Even with the suit Kain was still in no position to fight fresh Meta's, and there was still the fact that he was merely manipulating the metal that encased him not driving in a high tech piece of advanced machinery.
It made him feel clunky and slow, knowing of all the sophisticated technology and potential literally at his fingertips but being unable to fully or efficiently utilise it.
It made him feel angry and dumb.
He put those thoughts aside as he drew on more metal from the base and focused his efforts on the already injured invaders and panicked in-danger civilians.
The spare metal was shot out as piercing railway spikes or flung like a thick wiry whip to entrap and cuff the weak. In between shelters were secured for the panicked staff.
