Omega's face had gone from sympathetic to confused in moments. Jessica's talk about being experimented on was one he had been ready for with what he deduced, but he did not imagine it being that serious.

"Alien huh?" He chimed in between her explanation of her mysterious conception. When she explained what type of equipment she carried, hetc floated back a bit as she spouted out about rolling papers and condoms. He smirked ready to laugh before she pointed at her hair band. "Seriously? That's gotta be great for satellite radio." He said before her light show began. He raised an eyebrow before seeing the beauty in it. "So what are you doing? Showing off your suit some more to the mere peasant in your presence?" Omega then landed on his feet and telekinetically pulled Jessica behind him as he walked like boy with a helium filled balloon. "Let's start heading back. I don't care if you're alien, everyone needs to get some good sleep." He said before flying up, but at a slow pace to keep the conversation going if she wanted.

"I was actually tapping the mic to make nasty feed back; denied service. I made them deaf till their comms reboots in about three to four minutes.

They had me training like I was some elite soldier ready to perform for Queen and Country. Maybe I'm supposed to serve a Queen, a hive Queen but I never volunteered for it.

They kept me on an island inhabited by Squints an Soldiers the nearest......

The next morning

Kain's Story

With the gradual return of the sun, so too came Kain's every pulsing ache and pain. Using his powers to move what he shouldn't have and drugs to numb the warnings sent to his brain, the last nights antics caused him to awake to a whole new hell of discomfort.

He could feel his body burning, heavy with sweat and short on breath. His bandages were wet with blood, others had unraveled and opened wounds to the unsanitary conditions and dirt around him.

For a whole hour he just lay there, movement being out of the question. Sarah was not present, but he couldn't even muster up a thought to spare her way. Not till he had lay there completely still and acclimatised to his condition.
Until he had used his powers to slowly re-stitch open wounds. And covered other exposed injuries with a new type of semi solid flexible metal that acted as a bandage or temporary skin, developed just then on the spot out of necessity.

Convinced he couldn't get any better just laying there Kain begun the excruciating motions of movement.
Once a simple thoughtless task now broken down into focused bite sized chunks. Each stage requiring exertion of energy, rest and recuperation before embarking on the next.

And there it was, black hope slithering towards him in the bright morning light. Sarah had found his bike and was slowly pushing it this way. It would have been easier for her had there been a key for it, but Kain went so far as to remove the manual starting mechanism. Only he could start or use it now.

He wanted to run down a meet her half way, he wanted to help and be useful, but he couldn't. He just stood and waited as Sarah and his bike slowly came near. A smile creeping across his lips as he watched her fight on with enthusiasm, pushing the heavy bike, her blonde hair swaying about, feet occasionally slipping.

Soon after, they exchanged general morning pleasantries and a few jokes about their condition and situation, Sarah then helped Kain to and onto his bike. He again found some level of freedom, letting the bike do the moving for him. It was lightly beat up but he didn't mind. He was just surprised it was still around.

Exhausted and with no leads or clues, Kain on his bike and Sarah in his car, admitted defeat and went back home empty handed.
Kain was a shocking mess. Bandages caked with blood and dirt, patches of burnt skin visible, contorted scrap metal running along and around his body, glimpses of shiny silver beneath all the chaos and heavy beads of sweat trickling down over it all.

Leaving the vehicles right outside the medical ward Sarah aided him through the building as quick as she could to the nearest room. Ignoring the glares and stares from the rest of her staff. Sarah too was looking a bit of a mess. Kain finally fell into the bed with a rigid groan.

"Go move the car first." He exclaims between exhausted breaths as she began tending his wounds. With a playful laugh she obliges and disappears out of the room.
Meanwhile in her absence loud clunking comes from Kain's room as he strips off his metal aids.

"You know you're doing what you hoped for right now." Omega said as he laugh. "Don't seem so troubled. You're out... technically. I'm sure you've been flirting with me, even though I'm a geazzer." He joked. "We've laughed and gotten to connect on better level than before. And truth be told, you're one of the few people I can say I accept as... a friend I guess....." He was silent for a bit as he smirked to himself. "And there's no way I'm afraid of you. That's pretty automatic for everyone." His tone changed the mood a bit, but he was still joking.

The two floaters arrived at HQ with soft landings. Omega waved Jessica off and let her know that if she was ever feeling out of place, he'd be there to talk or listen. He also let her know to ask about his suit to her Squints.

"See you tomorrow, Drifter." He said as he headed to his room to end the night with some good sleep. He looked at the time and sighed at how late he had been out before entering his room. He cut on the light without touching the switch. Just as the light spread across the room, he noticed some things missing.

"Where's my... Where the fuck is my stuff?!" He walk briskly into the living room of his quarters to find things missing from there as well. His eyes widened in panic before he ran to the closet to find a chest that was silver in color untouched. "Good." He placed his hand on the chest and shut his eyes before it glowed in white light before it opened to reveal a black sphere about the size of a volleyball. "Better." He said as he shut it. This is the work of maybe two, a lot of stuff is gone, but not everything. One trip... Fuck, this isn't easy to analyze. I can figure it out tomorrow or just replace the shit.

He took a deep breath and jumped towards his bed before his body stopped in midair. He chuckled before plopping onto his bed. In moments, he drifted off to sleep.

Day 2

Omega stretched and groaned as he woke up from his sleep. He looked around his room, remembering the the if of last night and cursed under his breath. He levitated up and floated into his bathroom to brush his teeth, shower, and change into regular clothing. He put on grey sweat pants, a white t-shirt and white socks. They took my shoes and slide flip-flops! The man scowled as he floated around like he saw Jessica constantly do.

"Guess it's a telekinetic control workout with some cardio." He said to himself as he seemingly landed on his feet, but he wasn't touching the floor at all as if he had invisible shoes on. "It's go time!" He exited his room in a quick jog before heading out the front door and going for a brisk run.

Naomi Williams a.k.a. Black Cheshire

Naomi woke in the middle of the night to strange feeling, and looked around her room. She couldn't see anyone, and decided it must have just been a weird dream. She lay back down and fell asleep for the last few hours of darkness.

When Naomi woke again, she sat up in bed and lifted her sleep shirt, examining the bandages on her side. The stitched were some strange medical thing the nurse had explained, but Naomi didn't remember a lot of it. She just knew they would heal better than normal wounds and she would only have a scar left in like three days. It was already less painful in that area, and only the dark purple bruise remained. It still hurt to touch, as she found out when she poked her side, but apparently superheroes got great medical treatment.

Satisfied with her self examination, Naomi stood up slowly and headed to her en suite for a shower. After that, she felt more alive and got dressed in simple dark blue jeans and a plain black t-shit. She then headed out for the kitchen, and made herself some toast. She sat on a bar stool at the kitchen island to eat her breakfast in silence.

Wicked was already up and moving before dawn broke. She had gone over to medical to check on the injured. She had heard that Kain had left and she happened to be there when he and Sarah returned. She grabbed Sarah by the arm and sped her out of the HQ. "You are fired and banished from the property. What you did was reckless and Unforgiveable. Leave and don't come back."

Wicked walked back into medical and went to Kain's room. "I will have your car put back and your bike as well. Sara is no longer with the agency." Wicked watched the nurses give him pain meds and take his vitals and start looking to see his stitches and other areas that might be in danger of infection. "I have no idea in the world what Tia sees in you but you are one lucky young man. Now if you are smart you will sleep and let the meds do their job."

Tia smiled as R&D brought out the uniforms for the team. She called a team meeting in the lounge over the loud speaker that reverberated throughout the entire HQ building. "ALL team members to the lounge. Meeting to begin in 10 minutes. No exceptions." She repeated the message again and then went and put her suit on. After a few minutes everyone had shown up.

Tia announced that each of them would be receiving several super suits."They are exceptional and made of the highest of quality. They are flexible, durable, flame retardent, water resistant, bulletproof and very difficult to penetrate. They should make you feel safer and they are all in black and gold or blue and red. You will be issued two in each color. You are required to wear them unless you are on leave from the HQ. You may wear them underneath your regular clothes if you go out on your day off but they are mandatory. No exceptions."

Tia went on to talk to them about the fight the other night. "Wicked's team has not determined whether or not it was done by a witch or if they gates are starting to open."

"We will be pairing up for missions and for training. We can not and will not be caught unaware like the other night again. First duo out on morning missions will be Miles and Brian. Jessica and Ro'kun will be the second. Here are your locations to patrol." She handed them their sheets. Next is training in the gym Naomi, Izzy, Omega and James, Allison will be with me and we will be in training with the others. Kain is in medical so he is out for now." She looked up. "Any questions?"

Just four more laps and... Fuck, are you serious?

Omega sighed and floated in place as he heard Tia's announcement. He then shrugged his shoulders and flew around towards the main entrance, only to find a crying blonde outside standing on the sidewalk. She was one of the nurses, but not just any nurse. He had a feeling she was the one who was with Kain last night.

"Hey, you could always get a job with some thugs. They're gonna need medical treatment all the time now that I'm a superhero. They probably pay good too. Anyway, places to be, meetings to get started. Bye." He said in a rush as he continued to round the building. He entered through the main doors and met with the rest of the team.

Before Tia spoke, he winked and pointed at Jessica when their eyes met. He floated by her and whispered.

"Someone stole my civilian shoes last night! Crazy, right? Now I gotta copy you for a bit." He said as he pointed down at the empty space between his feet and the floor.

When Tia made the announcement about the uniforms, Omega raised an eyebrow and turned to look at Jessica. A smirk appeared on his face.

"Your Squints won't be happy." He whispered. He continued to listen. When Tia mentioned teammates being paired up, his eyes narrowed as he looked around the room. There were some new faces he had not given himself the time to make great note of. Not that he would normally. "Have fun." He said as Jessica was handed a sheet.

Omega heard Tia speak on training, which he nodded at. Best thing you said all morning, lady.

"Question!" Omega said loudly. "Well, questions. I have more than one. For the first, who am I going on missions with next? I want to know so I can train with them and get a feel for their abilities before we head out. Second question and this is for everyone. Where's my shit?! Someone took a decent amount of stuff from my room. If they have a problem with me personally, we can settle things outside or in the gym... or we can sit down and talk or whatever you nice people do." Omega broadcasted to the group.

Tia answered Omega. "You are paired up with James today but at some point in time you will work with everyone in pairs so it would be to your advantage to train with everyone. We need to see where our strengths and weaknesses lie and work together to get the best outcome. If you are in the field on missions and something is too big for you or for you and your partner then you had better not try to show off. All disturbances need to be called into HQ. We can get there to assist faster if we know where you are to begin with."
She looked down and tried not to grin. She manages a passable almost straight face. "Wicked can help you with your things. I believe some of them were burned out front but she knows where the rest went."

Kain awkwardly shoots up from his bed and yells at the woman with all his breath! His voice accentuating with the discomfort of his movements. He put up little fight against the elder nurses. Finding himself too frail to resist, they easily and quickly restrained him back down to the bed and continued the treatment.

Still he struggled, even if it was futile and pointless.
He would find Sarah again, if only as a sign of disobedience to the older lady. Many things were discussed through that long cold night, Sarah's words had already laid a deep impact within his mind and resonated in his future thoughts.

She helped Kain consider things he hadn't before, he found new purpose and paths.
He could safely admit that he didn't have the combat strength or abilities to rival his fellow meta's, but Sarah reminded him that his power was more then just strength. Kain had an aptitude for crafting and mechanical engineering, capable of doing things no production machinery could ever hope to. He was also no longer just some kid on the street with only the clothes on his back, Kain now had access to resources he couldn't even imagine yet...

This was how he would spend his recovery days, this was how he would bring himself to the level of others. It was a fine line between fear and respect, it was one Kain believed he had to find to bring things into order.

"So where were you any way?" Kain shouts out to Wickid then gives a spluttering cough.
"I mean when rookies filled the streets, a bunch of kids fought some hellish creature while normal humans lives hung in the balance."
He lets out a dry painful chuckle. His words an echo of Sarah's.
"I mean serious, who does that?"

Jessie had received the summons to the staff meeting and decided to appear

Then while she hovered in the rear of the lounge Mike drifted up saying
"Someone stole my civilian shoes last night! Crazy, right? Now I gotta copy you for a bit."

"But I have shoes on" said with a smirk

When she heard of the standardized suits Jess barely heard Mike comment on the Squints . She was fairly certain that the suits appealed to the militant mindset because uniformity bred teamwork but she wasn't sure she was ready to give up individuality or the familiarity of her pink.

Sure when the squints had made the first one she'd been vividly angry shredding it. It had been Maxy who'd talked her into accepting a suit so bright in color. She hadn't tried to push it's safety factor but on how other masters of the skies had made sure to standout against the clouds and blue sky.

Now after the previous day's events she was remembering how the helicopters flying near the action had altered path for her. In close support and rescue being only woman sized had disadvantages and one is air traffic visibility.

This was going to be an interesting tactical maneuver and might require some amount of frustration.

She was assigned the Pyro, he was a grounder, her partner had to run, walk, ride or be driven.

It wasn't that she had anything against Ro'kun but the accepted thought was that every unit was as fast as it's slowest member. She was fast, so fast in fact that she needed to standout and the support of some form of air traffic control; her partner needed a limo or a really cool motorcycle

How did they do it all the time, how could you travel along a path littered with idiots who held a portion of your safety in their loose grip of common sense? Jessie hated cars, motorcycles and any other form of terrestrial travel; she was a flier and when she flew she was in complete control.

James was a little surprised by the sudden meeting and guessed that the party was over. They should try to do another one in the future sometime and with that he headed straight for the place where the meeting would held. Once there he listened to Inertia's announcement and heard that he would be paired up with Omega for training. He walked over to his teammate and smiled.

"Well I'm sure that it will be a great experience getting to train with one another and grow our teamwork. It's a pleasure to work with you Omega" he said holding out his hand to shake.

Omega raised a brow to the way Tia answered his first question. James? I just hope he's a winner. Omega thought before hearing the answer to his second question. What a.... Calm. She didn't touch the sphere, so it's all good. Everything else can be replaced. I hope.

"Affirmative supreme leader." Omega said mockingly with venom. He was ready to float off to head towards the gym, but was greeted by none other than James. Omega could tell the hero was younger, but that didn't disqualify him from being a decent partner in his eyes. Omega let his feet touch the ground before doing anything. "Pleasure." Omega said as he grasped James' hand for a moment.

When he let go, he smiled. The guy had a good grip and approached him. Confident. Good physical condition. He can hang.

"So what's your power, James? I can use telekinesis, super strength, and I heal fast." He said as he let himself float again.

"Should I assume that you are all weak and incapable? Tia's injuries were due to a fluke accident that showed a flaw in her powers. That has been corrected. Others were wounded but minor compared to your injuries? Should I assume it is just YOU that can't take care of yourself? What do you expect me to do that an entire team can't do? I chose to believe that you were all capable and know how to use your powers. You can't have it both ways Kain." She went to leave and stopped a moment.

"If you keep addressing people about your car like that you will not make any friends here. You've already scared that poor Eddie half to death. I'll ask Tia to move it for you. If you have a problem with that take it up with her. She brought you here." Wicked left and went over to the HQ building.

Izzy was still in her room when she heard a summons on the overhead. She climbed out of bed and put on her clothes before she left her room to the conference. She had explored the building a little last knight so she knew where it was. When she got there there seemed to be more people than she thought. She didn't really know anyone but Miles. "Speak of the devil and he shall appear." she said under her breath as he walked in and Izzy moved over next to him.

Then when she said something about body suits she thought "aren't body suits supposed to bring out your boobs?" as she looked down at herself to see very little. Deciding to be optimistic she thought she would still be cute in it and she did have some butt to fill it in. But when she heard there would be partners she sighed a little whispering "I work better alone." Looking down at the floor before looking up Miles and smiling trying to seem in a better mood than she was. @King Tai @Wick

After the evening of spending time with Izzy, touring the HQ and going about his own thing after the two split, Miles the next morning was in the middle of cleaning his boots as he was summoned to the meeting by Tia.

Walking in and taking a seat, he caught sight of Izzy coming over to sit next to him and watched her for a moment before Tia started speaking. Explaining the suits they'd wear and the colors and hearing what Izzy said, Miles tried not to crack a smile Titties ain't everything.... he responded to her.

Now, he was a bit intrigued with the organizing that Tia did such as teaming different ones up to see who works well with who and who were more effective. Being the first to go out on the morning mission with Brian, which he learned about the other day, Miles had no objective about him, especially seeing what his abilities were. Looking at him, Miles nodded and then turned to look back at Izzy. Alone? are you sure about that? he questioned her Never know what crazy ass combinations you can make with someone else...

Looking over at Tia while looking over the sheet of the locations to patrol Are we looking out for regular petty shit while we are out or are we to look more into anything related to the other day? Miles asked Tia

Jess decided to look for her new partner and feel him out on his work ethic and skill.

His name as listed was Ro'kun Phillips meaning he was most likely the child of a Japanese mother and an American, Canadian or British father, his father's nationality questioned by his patrilineal last name. Jessica knew she could be wrong about the mother but felt fairly sure she wasn't.

His first name was either his complete name or a nickname due to it's pronunciation. Kun was a suffix like Mr. or Sir and Ro was an
abbreviation of some Japanese male name though she couldn't remember which it might be.

His call sign was Red Strike and she knew from the pool that he was some type of thermal elemental, a Pyro judging by his playing with fire. What his other abilities were she didn't know other than he wasn't a flyer.

Maybe he'll agree to wear one of the lift harness that she'd practiced with lifting soldiers at the project who'd volunteered back on Lively Island.

About that time Wicked walked in and said. "Kain is back and I told him I would have you move his car." She jingled the keys in front of her.

Tia sighed and said, "tag you're it." Tia took the keys and went outside to the car and pulled it into it's space. Next she went into the medical building and into Kain's room. "Knock knock" he looked terrible, she entered and put her hand on his forehead. He was burning up so she yelled, "NURSE Kain has a high fever!" She waited while the staff came in and checked is vitals again. "His vitals were perfect forty minutes ago." "Yes well now they aren't."

Tia took the nurse back to the nurses station and loudly yelled. "You have no patients except those that come in here IF there are injuries. I expect, no I DEMAND you have someone in the room at ALL TIMES. There is NO EXCUSE for losing a patient out the door or one getting a high fever without someone knowing about it!" Tia was so pissed off that she accidentally blew up a clock on the wall when she pointed. The blast was enough to make the nurses cringe. Tia walked back into Kain's room and sat down next to his bed. She hit her comlink. "Wicked, can you handle the team for a while. I want to stay here with Kain. He has a high fever. Yeah, I scared the nurses." She chuckled."Yeah, thanks."

Wicked looked at the group. "So where did Tia leave off?"

Omega had been ready to listen to his current partner's answer when his eyes landed on Wicked.

"Hold that thought for a second." He said as he levitated off the ground to stand out in the group of metahumans. "Hey I wasn't really listeningood, but the last thing I remember her saying was how you burned some things belonging to me and how you have the rest held up somewhere!" Omega took a breath before floating closer, but kept at least four feet between the two. "So, first, I need you to put my things back in my room... then, you're either paying me the cost of what you burned, or replacing it all. You have till the end of the day." Omega demanded as turned away and floated towards the exit of the room. "Touching stuff that doesn't belong to you is dangerous. You don't even know how lucky you are." Omega said vaguely, but was referring to the chest in his closet. He was heading to his own room to change for the gym, slowly floating by James whom he forgot to finish his conversation with. If Wicked had anything to say or do, now was the time as he didn't seem like he would stop for anything.

Red Strike (Ro'Kun)

This was odd. He hadn't realized he'd been shanghaied into service here. Though if he was honest with himself, it was the least he could do. After all, he'd eaten free food all night and had a place to stay now where there was no rent. If he had to wear a jumpsuit now and again and do what he did on a daily basis anyway, why not join for awhile? Might be fun.
He stood casually, looking back and forth between members with a curious glint in his dark eyes. The pretty girl Tia had been talking for awhile, and he had no arguments with that she declared. He'd wanted to go out and explore the city with Brian, but Jess seemed cool. She was the pretty girl with the sarong earlier, if he remembered right. He saw her across from him, sizing him up. He gave her a smile and a wink. "How are you today?" he asked her, friendly.
Behind Jess, he saw Tia go. He was kinda bummed at that. He'd enjoyed messing with her earlier, and she was just a cool girl anyway. Wicked walk into the room right after Tia had left. His mind went to other places as he watched her walk into the room, but he shook himself out of his musing and glanced back at Jess, waiting for her answer with an easy smile.

Jess laughed softly as the Pyro tried to play it cool with her by soft balling his communication.

"Hello once more, in case I missed introducing myself I am Jessica call sign Drifter and the powers that be have seen fit to clip my wings and team me with you. I know it may seem unimportant to them but the fact that you are a ground pounder may effect my overall performance.

Don't get me wrong, it's not your fault that you can't fly but it is problematic. I can fly at speeds approaching the sound barrier and over 200 miles per hour NOE (Nap of the Earth) and the best you can manage is 150 or maybe 180 in this terrain.

There is a solution but it requires I sacrifice speed but will speed you up. I have a special designed harness that you can wear which is equipped with a small parachute. It will allow me to hold you close to my body and as a team increase our effectiveness." she said in as cheerful tone as she could manage

She looks him over deciding as guys go he's handsome but his stance is aggressive and she thinks he might be smirking at her.
