[OOC] My High School Life is Filled With Magic!: A semi-comedic magical school RP

Well, this is old history stuff. The isolated orcs would be the ones who keep themselves away from the modern world, whereas the other orcs are more willing to try to live peacefully. To that end they would be the types who disguise themselves and stuff, but they've also been doing this for quite some time. Thus the orcs are pretty good at keeping up the masquerade, but with continual breeding between orcs and humans, orcs will be phased out.

The epic fantasy feel is just so that the orcs have more depth then "pig people who live in the mountains who don't like humans except for some". After all its not like these fantasy races have only been around recently. I'm sure they have some history behind them comparable to human history.

I mean, what about things like Youkai or demons? Surely they'd have a history too. Had problems with other races, got caught up with humans, and have some reason to hide themselves.

Right now my biggest problem is what type of magic to give my person?

Any suggestions anyone?

@Lucius Cypher: Well, youkai are actually all about either being antisocial or blending in.

But the thing is, magic is sort of... the Masquerade's not as strong in this setting as it is in some others, but it's still there.

... Also since it's urban fantasy I kind of never intended for the standard staple fantasy races to even exist in it. ^^;

@Absolis: Hmm... just going off of what we don't have, water, fire, air... traditional elemental stuff is open surprisingly.

Well, I can try to adapt the orcs for a more modern bent? I mean, playing a half Oni would be fine too I suppose, though I'm just not feeling to be another half demon with out some significance. Like if I am an oni, what makes that different t then literally any other ogre demon? I'm not trying to be special, but neither do I want to be sterotypical.

Alright, that suggestion narrows it down to three.

One is a thing someone suggested last night in a pm, which was both adorable and deadly.

The other is something traditional, like fire.

The third. The third is weird and I got the idea from a video. Capibara powers.

The person suggested controlling teddy bears. Which were cuddly. But could do things like fire laser beams and materialize claws. Obviously I would edit it, but I liked the idea.

I was thinking something like fire, or water if I went with something elemental. Possibly darkness, as it's one of my favorite elements when played right.

... For the Teddy Bear thing if you say they're using the bears as like, conduits for spellcasting, totally go with that.

Teddy Bear powers is a bit too goofy, but using teddy bears to cast spells is just the right amount of goofy.

@VitaVitaAR just trying to figure out how orcs survived into this day and age. Most yokai are isolationist and ageless so it'd make sense that there would be a very few, occasionally breeding with humans for giggles. But orcs aren't ageless and are generally known to live in tribes instead of just hiding from the world.

I dunno, I may try to think of something else. Maybe just a straight oni for simplicity or maybe even just a human. Do we have just pure humans? I kinda want to try an "ordinary highschool" student type.

As for magic, are you familiar with the Alteration school of magic from the Elders roll series? I was hoping to use magic based off that, with some extra modded bonus spells.

I'm back from work! So while I work on my CS, a couple of questions so I know how to direct my creative juices.

Are the following magics already taken?
Shapeshifting
Physic Powers (Mind Reading and Telekinesis)
Pyromancy

I'm willing to play around with one of the three (Hopefully all three at some point). Additionally the thing I was going to talk about with Alteration Magic is essentially a mix of Shapeshifting and Physic Powers, which would allow me to do stuff like grow claws or wings, create golems using whatever is around me and telekinetically keeping them together, or create magical armor by creating a force of telekinetic energy over my body to absorb physical blows. If you feel that makes it too loaded I'd understand and I'll just pick from which ever are available.

I would use air, but I just used a character in another RP with a subset of air/wind magic.
