She nodded without smiling as he took the bag from her hand. She blinked and looked at him, waiting for him to move out of the doorway, but he didn't. He just kept watching her. His face looked redder than usual, but Per expected it was from the fight.

He started talking, and it sounded like he was making conversation because she had stuck around, not because he was holding her there. What was her name? Was that a joke? Why did he care? Per's eyes ran over him, the feet shuffling and the red cheeks and the way he was speaking...was he embarrassed? Was this some huge joke? They were in a gang hideout right now, and she was his boss's bitch. He had just been in a fight for Christ's sake, and now he sounded like the boy who had asked her to prom three years before. What a world away that was.

Before she could figure out what to say, a loud laugh sounded behind Orren. He spun and Per peered over his shoulder, but it was just Dog. Great, more people to block the doorway. He laughed for a little bit and then grabbed Orren and moved. Persephone grabbed a bag of food off the counter by the door and finally slipped past the guys. She shot them a glance and moved out to find a place to sit in the bigger room.
Per kept Rusco in the corner of her eye, feeling the tension in the air and waiting to see what he was gonna hit these two with for fighting. She could feel him suck in a breath, about to start in, when the sound of footsteps echoed into the warehouse. The whole room turned and found Dog jogging in. He reached them and reported his findings, and Per watched Rusco deflate carefully. Dog was probably the favorite member, and a win for him always calmed Rusco. He handed the money over and she watched him thumb it, estimating the amount. What she could've done if that money was in her hands was unimaginable. Rusco shoved it into his pocket and far from her reach, and moved on to scold the other men. If she had the guts, she might have given him a look, even said something, about not being allowed to do anything but sit on her ass and suck dick - but that was not her place and she knew it. Besides, this shithole was a hell of a lot better than the one Rusco found her in, she was in no position to complain.

Rusco nodded to her and she offered the freezing bag in her hands up to the first taker, Tito. She had never spoken to him and he had never said much to her, and it was clear that wasn't about to change. He took the ice like she wasn't even there, and shuffled away like a spoiled kid who had just been told he couldn't get candy. A few others followed him on his way, and the room emptied a bit. Per glanced at Orren, still dripping blood, and moved back to the kitchen for more ice. She wasn't one for cleaning up other asshole's messes, but she couldn't revolt against this any more than she could anything else. She did what Rusco told her to and she didn't fuck up, and she got to live another day. Which was good enough for her.

She snatched up the ice and shut the top, turning around and finding him staring at her. She didn't know him, probably hadn't said more than five words to him in the last few months, but he hadn't said anything to her either. All she knew about him was that he had a flash temper and was Dog's little brother. So she didn't say a thing, didn't give him a look, didn't do anything about it. There was a reason the guys didn't talk to her, didn't look at her for too long, didn't sit too close to her. They were afraid, of what Rusco might do to them. So they stayed away from her - and there wasn't any other way she'd want it. She crossed the room and grabbed a rag, and then made her way back over to Orren. He was rubbing his neck and not meeting her eyes, and as angry as she had seen him get before he didn't look like any sort of threat now. But they never did, did they? She reached up and pushed the ice to his eye and the rag against his nose, trying to avoid the scarlet river flowing down his chin. She held it for a moment, waiting for him to take it from her, but he made no such movement. She watched him, waiting for any movement. "...You gonna take it?" she asked quietly.

kill me it double posted ignore this
Per finished her food with a rumble in her stomach and watched the game. She was starving, but as always there was no food. They could afford plenty of drugs and whores, sure. But food? Never. She crossed her arms over her chest and watched one guy fold as another pushed more chips into the pot. It was only Tito and Orren now, both pretty good players. But Tito was known to cheat at everything, and Per wasn't the only one who realized it. Tito threw down the better hand and Orren practically lunged at his throat. Cards flew out of Tito's sleeve and then Tito's fist flew at Orren's face, and pretty soon everything was flying. The table flipped and everyone in the vicinity scattered to make room.

Per stepped backwards as far as she could keeping a close eye on the brawling men to make sure she didn't get caught in the flurry. She turned to leave - and slammed into a hard wall of flesh she knew way too well. She looked up and caught Rusco's eye, and he looked mad. "Ice," he snapped, nodding back towards their makeshift kitchen. She nodded and headed towards their freezer, and he took a few large steps towards the men. Others spotted him and the room hushed as Per came back to his side with an armful of ice. "Yo, Pussypants and Crackhead, what the fuck are you guys doing?"
Persephone pulled her hair out of the jacket and threw it over her shoulder. Rusco liked it long so that was the way she kept it, no matter how annoying and in the way it got. The jacket was leather and a few sizes too large, but it wasn't like they were about to go out shopping. Especially now, with the other day's loss. Just now had been the first time Rusco had called her since the cop caught their runner, and he had just let her go early so he could keep figuring out how to get the money back. She reached the stairs and hopped down them, ignoring the glances she got as the others heard her coming down. It wasn't some big secret where she'd been, and she knew they were only waiting to see if she was alone or not. Once they didn't see Rusco coming up behind her, they turned back to what they were doing. A bunch of the guys were playing poker over the table, and everyone else seemed to just be laying around. The hit had been hard and unexpected, and no one was doing much of anything about it.

She grabbed some of the food the guys had spilled open on the table for dinner and crossed the room to watch the poker game. There was nothing the guys loved more than a good game, and after watching about twenty of them Per was sure she would have been able to play with them. The only problem was she didn't own anything, so she couldn't gamble anything. The closest she ever came to playing was when Rusco had thrown her into the pot as a prize - but he had only ever done that when he was sure he'd win. But Rusco wasn't playing this round, so she was safe for now. Per reached the table and leaned against the wall where she could snack and watch without being in the way. It looked like one of the guys was winning by a lot, but it didn't take Per long to realize something was off.
Name: Born Hailey Thomas, known as Persephone (Per) Davis
Position: Property of the TI-32 gang leader, Rusco

Personality: Per is hardened, staying pretty reserved and detached from everyday on-goings in an attempt to stay sane. She comes off as surprisingly easy-going. She's developed a sick sense of humor, and can be pretty crude and brutal at times. She isn't one to sugarcoat anything, but depending on who she's dealing with and what situation she's in she will adjust herself to make sure she stays alive. Her main priority is survival, and she'll do whatever it takes to achieve it. Due to her past, when she is faced with violence of any kind towards her, she turns off. Her face is vacant and her mind is elsewhere, trying to keep her safe away from the threat. Where she used to have a soft spot for those less fortunate than her, she now cannot stand anyone she sees as weak, especially women.

Appearance:
Long blonde hair, hazel eyes, stands at five foot seven with a willowy build. Across her body she has scattered fading white scars, but on her back is a long pink one.

History: When Persephone was seven, her mother took a fatal trip down a flight of stairs. Immediately after, she developed a tick of punching herself. A year later, when her step-mother got mugged and killed, she tripped in the park and broke her leg. And once the women in the neighborhood started to stay away from her father. Persephone split her head open on the dining room table.

At least, that's what they told the doctors. But when Persephone turned eighteen and started whipping herself, no one was surprised that she went missing.

What they didn't know was that she had taken her boyfriend and ran, getting fake IDs and making it to the nearest city that had slot machines and wouldn't recognize her as the mayor's daughter. They hid out there for a few years, until her boyfriend borrowed some money he couldn't pay back in time.

It was the middle of the night when they broke in, shot him in the head, and took Per and everything she owned. For the next six months or so they sold everything she had for drugs they fed her, and then they passed her around. Most of the gang were as bad as her father had been, but she knew they would not be as easy to run from.

And then a drug deal went wrong, and they had to run - fast. They moved a few cities over and set up shop on TI-32 turf. They didn't even make it two days before TI-32 broke in and raided the place. They took everything and shot everyone - except her. Rusco found her in a back room, and before he had a chance to raise his gun she was telling him about the drug exchange they had set up for the next day, and how he'd be able to collect on it if he let her talk to them. He regarded her with great suspicion, but the deal came through and she proved to be surprisingly useful. The boss took her in as an informant, but he kept her as his call girl.

Other: She doesn't have much of a hand in the gang fights or drug deals, though she's still used to gather information from time to time. Rusco took a peculiar liking to her, and will on occasion bring her on excursions as good luck. He is also not violent towards her and is very particular that she belongs to him and no one else in the gang. She's treated as just another member of the gang to the others and while she's not ecstatic about where she is and what she's doing, she definitely prefers it to how her life was before Rusco took her.
