@AdvancedJ3lly

Already got a background on the updated version. Appearance was the only hold-up.

Is this updated version anywhere on this thread? The only CS of yours I see is on page two which is still in its initial form.
@Nohbdy

Seems fine to me, though you still need to get a background figured out sometime soon.
The way I look at it is this:

People have busy lives. I work full time and take night classes in the evenings for example, and I know others do even more than that. Strict initiative is generally bad, as if Player A has time to post Monday but can't because he has to wait for Player B to post, but player B can't post until Tuesday, it screws everyone up.

Simply splitting it into rounds where everyone takes their turn, then we begin the cycle again fixes that to a degree. In situations where you don't have time to post for a couple days and people are waiting, simply PMing myself can work in a pinch, as I can roll your character's actions into a post and cover the die rolls. It unfortunately means you lose out on the opportunity to describe the event from your character's perspective, but it keeps things rolling.

I think it would be best to keep the RP more towards streamlined gameplay. Sure you could find a reason to roll dice for practically everything in a tabletop RPG, but this format makes it a bit cumbersome. Viewing it as a normal forum RP with some dice tossed in rather than a traditional tabletop RPG jammed into a forum format is probably the best way to go.

If in your post, for your "turn" you shoot at something or attempt picking a lock, or do something that is not a guaranteed outcome, include a roll at the bottom of your post (or multiple, if you're doing something like shooting and include the damage roll). If you aren't sure if you need to roll or what you need to roll, feel free to PM me or ask me in the OOC. You can PM me your roll ahead of time and I can tell you the outcome so you can include that in your post as well to make things easier.

Apologies for the text-wall.

Also, @Nohbdy still with us my dude?
How do you guys feel about using or not using initiative for combat? I lean towards not rolling initiative because it would enforce a certain posting order for everyone. Thoughts?
IC is up. Y'all are in a dropship and have a few minutes to make your peace with the Emperor or socialize before dropping into the hive.
The Valkyrie dropship shook like a leaf in the wind as it screeched through the torrent of acidic rain. The pilots were flying blind, relying entirely on spotty auspex readings to maintain formation and navigate. It was rough, but to the men and women of First Squad, Third Platoon, E Company, it was just the calm before the storm, something they had experienced many times before. The squad was crowded into the passenger compartment of the dropship, shoulder-to-shoulder. The only light came from a pair of dim red lamps on the rear wall of the cabin.

Sergeant Felder was positioned closest to the sealed ramp, his cybernetic arm gripping an overhead rail to keep himself steady, his lasgun strapped across his chest. He had fought through the entire Stiri campaign with first platoon until losing his arm to a heavy bolter round a few short weeks before redeployment. Rumor was that he wasn’t due to be medically cleared for duty for another few weeks and had excused himself from the medicae ward to participate in the drop. Whether or not he was truly fit for duty, it had stopped 1/3/E from getting assigned a non-com from the 103rd, and that wasn’t bad news.

The briefing hours earlier had been brief and straightforward: traitors had seized control of the hive and the 37th had been tasked with bringing down the Emperor’s fury upon them. E Company’s commanding officer, Captain Leo Tarilis, was not one for verbose speeches, he left that to the regimental confessors.

E Company’s intended drop zone and objective was a two kilometre stretch of the Hive Primus’ Grand Processional. The Processional, as Captain Tarilis had explained, was a massive thoroughfare, 500 metres wide in most places, even wider in others, that stretched across the upper-hive and linked the major hive stacks together. The Grand Cathedral and the governor’s Imperial Palace sat along the rain-soaked cobblestones and crumbling statues of the Processional, overshadowed only by the noble houses and crumbling towers of the spire. The Processional was to be secured and held against counterattack until the bulk of the Regiment could be deployed along it by more conventional means. Intelligence reports suggested the upper levels were still in the hands of loyalist forces. Weather reports had suggested a smooth drop. That had proven dead wrong.

The pilot announced five minutes to the drop zone, his voice stripped of emotion by the crackling vox and just barely carrying over the roar of the craft’s engines. Only three had passed since the pilot had announced ten minutes.

I'll work on getting the first IC post up as soon as I can.
@Skwint We'll just have to add you into the game whenever you get your character sorted.
@Skwint Any updates on the character sheet?

@Ollumhammersong Hows that background coming?

@Nohbdy How's it going on your end?

Don't feel like I'm rushing you, just trying to get an idea of what we need to get done to start and if anyone needs assistance.
The idea is that the 103rd isn't a new regiment, but they are significantly less combat experienced than the 37th troopers, who are fresh out of heavy fighting with servants of the Ruinous Powers and have lost a good deal of their comrades. The 103rd troopers don't fit in, many of which are replacements and troops with little experience themselves (despite the relatively lengthy existence of their regiment), and while there are veterans among the 103rd, they have spent the last few months in transport ships and at munitorum staging areas while the surviving 37th were pulled straight off of the battlefield and have had little time to lick their wounds.

Edit: I have internet again. Just waiting on Skwint's character and Jayne Marigold's backstory.
Just a heads up, my home internet is down for the next week, so my ability to respond to messages and post is pretty limited. I'll try to figure something out, but I may be unavailable for the a few days. Sorry for the inconvenience.
