Wip - Just getting things up
Age: 22
Trainer Class: Psychic Trainer
Class Bonus: Being psychic gives Kamon the ability to use psykinetic powers to levitate and manipulate items with his mind. He seems more connected in general with his Pokemon as well, though whether that’s attributed to sharing a type or huge bond Kamon has with his Pokemon is still up for debate.
Region: Kanto - Former Champion, Johto - Gym Leader
Team Information: Team Leader Sitrus
Appearance:
Kamon has always had his looks handed down to him by both parents. Sharing Sabrina’s eyes and Lt. Surge’s hair color, albeit a bit more darker than his father’s. He never took on his father’s impressive height. Standing at 5’6”, 167cms, and weighing 119 pounds, 53kgs, he’s smaller in comparison to his father though that’s never really deterred Kamon.
Kamon probably be more popular and more handsome with the ladies, if he didn’t wear a permanent scowl on his face. He always seems to have a look of annoyance that tells people to steer clear of him and his impressive aura doesn’t really help that. When you’re outside the norm of human capability people tend to shy away.
His hair is often unkempt and shaggy, though groomed. And he doesn’t really fuss about clothing style. Often seen wearing all styles and manners of clothing. Though often he appears in unkempt, baggy clothing as well. A wrinkled button down shirt, with a barely tied tie, and cargo pants give the impression of someone not willing to sit still for too long.
His eyes have always been a great stir of controversy. As they tend to be two different colors at once. Often a pink, blue marbling iris, that has irregular spikes of energy that flow when he activates his psychic capabilities.
Kamon often speaks in a very quiet, but husky and smoky voice, that again would mean he’d make a great ladies man. That is if he didn’t scare people away with a brash and abrasive attitude.
Personality:
While it is true that Kamon has mellowed out over the years, a single look from him is often enough to get others to back down. Actually some of Kamon’s victories start with trying to intimidate his opponent before they even battle. Some even say Kamon has the look of a Pokemon in his eye, Kamon thinks they are exaggerating a bit there. Few who know him describe him as an intense and intimidating presence, few will even walk up and talk to him due to this. If Kamon even decides he wants to speak with you.
Yes, Kamon holds down more conversations now than he ever did. He still likes to remain to himself, often secluding himself from group activities or people. In some ways Kamon is scarred from the horrible things he has seen people do to each other, things he has seen people make their Pokemon do to others, or what people will do to their Pokemon. Kamon is deeply invested and even bonded to the lives of Pokemon, spending his teen years mostly alone and mostly understanding Pokemon. It makes Kamon off to other people as cold and indifferent.
You don’t necessarily have to breakdown Kamon’s walls, instead you more likely simply have to evade them. While true Kamon doesn’t prefer other people’s companies, he’ll still engage with those who make the initiative to speak with him. His own powers make him feel detached and isolated from others like him probably due to the hurt he had received in the past before from others. Once you have properly invaded his walls, you get a different picture of Kamon than the easier surface narrative.
He is a caring and compassionate, maybe even a passionate individual. With intense viewpoints, though it all comes out of love. He is someone who is deeply invested and cares for the lives of others, especially Pokemon lives. He is curious and easily excited by things he doesn’t know, and he is quite talkative once you get him stated on a topic. In truth socially he might be just a generator that someone needs to warm up to get started.
Though he does experience moments of social exhaustion, so when he does retreat from even those he’d call friends, it is likely due to social jet lag.
He can be quick witted and a bit snarky. He is fairly laid back, and that’s no more apparent when he decides every solution in life requires levitation. Fishing, levitation. Cooking, levitation. Catching pokemon, levitation. It’s a quirk of his powers others suspect, as in someone out of touch from doing something the apparently normal way.
The apparent flaws of Kamon is that despite being laid back, he is actually quite abrasive, he can seem smug at times and over confident about his knowledge and skills. He can be prideful of his heritage, and he does have an explosive temper. One that includes outburst of floating objects and further glowing eyes.
A caring, loyal, defender of friends and Pokemon alike, with a stormy internal personality is the best way to aptly describe Kamon.
He likes yogurt, going on adventures, having good battles. Dislikes cruelty, some people [some people are better than others], and weird textures.
Trainer Stats
Cooking - 3 - Kamon understands the basics of cooking, golden brown means nice and done, this spice compliments this spice, this is bitter, this is spicy. But that’s really all there is. Kamon isn’t master plating dishes making them delicious with your eyes. Often it’s a messy plate, with items of food scattered onto the plate without design of where they may have went. Beyond that his food is painfully average in the taste department. It’s edible, it taste okay, and will fill you up. But Kamon is not a master chef.
Style - 5 - From a coordinating aspect Kamon’s average in understanding the methods of moves and the way they compliment his Pokemon’s nature. But what Kamon lacks in actual coordination, he makes up with his natural bond with his Pokemon that make their personality stand out. His Pokemon are bursting with energy and clear focus, anyone can tell they shine brightly with a strong bond. Now if Kamon can gain the knowledge of how to realize in performing rather than battlinge, he’d be more skilled at this.
Styling - 1- Kamon doesn’t dress his Pokemon nor does he give them hairstyles. It’s kind of apparent Kamon has no clue in this department. And he takes everything very straightforward. Cool means sunglasses despite there might needing more planning involved in Coolness.
Battle Knowledge - 9 - This is where Kamon excels at. He has been studying Pokemon types, and Pokemon weaknesses throughout his whole life. And when he sets up a game plan it is surprising and the least you expect to show up. Kamon doesn’t just adhere to the traditional type setups, and all of his Pokemon have a trick up their sleeve in one way or another.
Role: Flame’s role in the team is to be the fast domineering physical sweeper. He soaks up damage with his big bulky body and uses fast, powerful, physical moves to knock out as many of his enemies team before they have a chance to really get into their groove in battle. Just because Flame is a Fire Type don’t expect the duo of Kamon and Typhlosion to not be creative and work as a cohesive team. You’ll be left blindsided and surprised if you underestimate the sheer tenacity Typhlosion has.
Personality:
Flame’s always been the troublemaker of the group, not that he purposely causes trouble, but he can be a bit more eager than the rest of the group. A bit hasty and a bit too ready for battle, Typhlosion likes to get a head start of everyone.Always preferring to be first and getting a slightly jealous when he isn’t part of the plan. He really just wants to please those around him. Flame’s always liked the praise and joy that he gets when someone, especially Kamon, is excited or happy with his work.
And despite all of his eagerness Flame is extremely loyal, to Kamon especially. Even protective to his fellow team members. He display rather warrior like qualities, like jumping out to take a hit for one of his teammates because he doesn’t want to see them get hurt badly. Or being unrelentingly loyal to those that earn his trust. He is rarely seen leaving Kamon’s side and is quite protective of even Kamon at times. Been known to stand in front of those that he doesn’t like to intimidate them for Kamon’s sake.
It’s very clear Kamon and Flame have a deep bond. Kamon is the person he understands and knows the most. They are more than trainer and Pokemon and more like brothers. Flame would not and could not be coaxed to leave Kamon’s side no matter the tactic or manipulation someone tries Flame will not leave Kamon’s side. He would rather die by any means then be ripped apart from his person.
Which means Flame is very stubborn. Even normal commands is difficult for others to get Flame to obey because he’s so narrow in thinking. It’s hard to lure Flame over for even the most normal of activities, like accepting food or picking something up. Of course he’ll do something someone else tells him if Kamon is near, even if Kamon says nothing on the matter. Though it is rare to see Flame leave Kamon’s side they are often side by side as most of Kamon’s Pokemon are.
And Flame like his namesake can have quite the fiery temper. Though that ties into its deep loyalty and protective nature. Those who brutally harm anyone Flame trust, and has his deep admiration, will meet a mouthful of fire. Flame seems sensitive to the brutality of his friends and family, likely because the death of a family member greatly impacted Flame to be more dedicated in saving those he cares for even more.
He hates to see Kamon hurt and will try to do things to cheer him up, but just as much as he hates to see Kamon hurt, he hates to see any of his friends or family hurt. Flame has been known to bring piles of berries to cheer others up. Most likely because they are his favorite type of food.
Flame loves bitter Rawst berries and he also loves Sweet and Spicy Poffins, that Kamon doesn’t make. Has a habit of being too hasty to start a fight.
Role: Wish role is to provide defensive and supportive backup. A physically defensive Pokemon he cures his allies of status effects, and he has the ability to heal any of his allies in battle. Though don’t underestimate him because he can be quite a tough opponent as well. Just like Flame he can take quite the bulk of damage, but he can dish it right back at you with high special attacks.
Personality:
To some they would say Wish is skittish and shy to newcomers, which isn’t a terrible assessments from an outside perspective. He doesn’t like when people move quickly towards him and seems hesitant with large wide hand motions, even high pitch voices seem to set him off and more noticeably is his fear of loud noises, especially thunder. Though like Kamon has gone through some healing over the years, it is safe to say the same goes for Wish. If Kamon is near Wish may accept a pat or acknowledgement from a stranger, and when near his new Pokemon family it opens up a whole different side to Wish.
While Flame is eager, maybe even a little too hasty to start battles. Wish can come off as a bold and confident Espeon with the right support. In battle he almost seems smug and proud of his own power. Holding himself up with dignity and clear strength in oneself. As if to say that he owns this battle. When he is lifted and supported by his Pokemon family and Kamon he seems at ease, relaxed even. When it comes to Flame or Kamon being around Wish will be seen relaxing under the sun or sleeping.
If Flame is the brash, bold, and hasty warrior than Wish is the cool demeanor brain. While it is true certain noises, sounds and touches will take him back to places he otherwise doesn’t want to remember, he also seems to be able to keep his calm in most situations. He’s not the one to start the fights as easily as Flame and he certainly doesn’t have the easy temper of Flame either. Instead he is a thoughtful, strategic individual who takes his time to assess the situation.
He nevers seem to lose his cool in high stress situations. Though that doesn’t mean he isn’t scarred from a painful and hurtful past. Certain sounds or smells or noises bring him back to a dark time that haunts his past. But with Kamon and the rest they assure him he is safe now. He does feel safe now, but new situations always make him uncomfortable. He out of the whole group isn’t often the one who goes off to meet new discoveries or explore. He is most often the most honest about how he feels and can give the impression of someone stuck up when he rejects their calls for his attentions. Strangers are often left ignored if he doesn’t like them enough.
Grateful for Kamon and Flame’s commitment to his safety. He like Flame have devoted his time to protecting his allies and wouldn’t simply let harm come to them. Unlike Flame, he can tell the difference between malicious intent. Not an easy Pokemon to trust others, you often have to ease your way in by knowing Flame or one of the friendlier others. Knowing Kamon is another good way of knowing Wish as well. As he trust the judgment of Kamon the most.
Role: While Flame is a fast physical sweeper, often brawling his Pokemon and wiping them out with devastating strength. Alpha is a special sweeper who uses his psychic abilities to surprise his enemies and trick them into submission. Like most of Kamon’s Pokemon Alpha won’t go down easily and like many of Kamon’s Pokemon they can be surprising and difficult to predict. Especially when Alpha has been known or seen to predict the future of attacks with high accuracy. Attacking Pokemon with domineering psychic abilities. Plotting future attacks. Alpha might not seem tough, but like many of Kamon’s Pokemon is a force to reckon with.
Personality.
Maybe Alpha is not simply an insight into how Kamon treats his Pokemon, but also an insight of Kamons predecessor his own mother. As Alpha has qualities that his mother and father might have been displayed, things Kamon’s mother wanted in Pokemon obviously. Kamon probably wouldn’t be the trainer he is without the hard work and dedication of Alpha. And he is quite the dedicated, hard worker. He is the calm, serene presence often seeing meditating the day away unless action needs to be taken. He also is the one who takes care of the team in the areas Kamon lacks.
While Kamon is kind and inspires motivation in others, it’s very clear that Kamon struggles in domesticate affairs. Cooking is one area that Kamon simply struggles. While his food might not kill, it certainly lack any sense of planning. Being quite a smart Pokemon Alpha is a curious and voracious learner, and thus he took up the concept of cooking for the team. If he’s not meditating, he is seen reading recipes to try. Usually having four or five books floating around it at a time.
Alpha seems pretty relaxed most of the time, he’s not as active as Flame is. And spends most of the day relaxing and reserving energy. Out of the team Alpha might be the most calm. Headstrong and stubborn it can be very hard to push his buttons. He as long fuse, though there are things that can quickly anger him. Taking his books away while he’s reading them. Trying to touch his spoon is another way to quickly anger Alpha. Another thing that can anger Alpha is of course hurting the Pokemon under his care. That is any of the Pokemon Kamon is currently taking care of.
He is the wise old man of the group. Often giving the group, Flame, Wish, Dream, and Squash advice. Now is it always good advice? Well that is questionable in their interpretation of Alpha’s advice. A mud bath for Wish was probably not what Alpha meant when he told Flame he has to engage Wish with fun activities. Still Alpha at least likes to think of itself wise. Maybe his surface statement sounds good on the surface, but his common sense is lacking.
And while Alpha maybe the tranquil Pokemon in the team, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a protective or nurturing side. Alpha’s own protection doesn’t just stop at the team and Kamon, though Alpha can become quite upset if someone intentionally hurts Kamon, Alpha doesn’t like seeing baby Pokemon or eggs being misused. It is also fierce in battle and quite reactive. While Flame may be hasty and eager, Alpha is quick and reactive. He trust Kamon fully in the heat of battle and trust that Kamon will protect the team as well.
Likes books, enjoys music, and will enjoy a good joke. Doesn’t like rowdy playing.
Role: While Wish’s supportive role is by being able to soak up physical damage and dish it right back out, even healing and curing his teammates. Dream supportive role is one that protects the team from special attacks the enemy might have. Even sacrificing her own energy for ally’s energy. And unlike Wish her role in the team isn’t necessarily to out pace and outlast a foe’s Pokemon, but instead make sure team has the supportive ability to do so. She does have some offensive options when she needs to fight, turning her specially defensive role into one that can force an opponent to think creatively on how to deal with her. And while she plays a pivotal supportive role, in her Mega Form she can be a devastating enemy.
Deam at first glance doesn’t really seem like a Pokemon Kamon would own. Usually his Pokemon are regal in some way or battle hardened Pokemon. While Dream is calm, she also comes with different priorities being an elegant Pokemon who takes the time dedicated to paying attention to her style. And seems very unhappy not to be pampered.
In truth Dream is a bit of a difficult Pokemon for Kamon to own because it is difficult to tend to a Pokemon so demanding with its needs. She can be very vain and refuses to get herself dirty, she has been known to use safeguard to make sure the rain doesn’t get on her. And she demands that Kamon take care of her properly. If she feels she is not getting the adequate care she deserves, she simply won’t listen. Which can be frustrating.
However, she is not a vindictive Pokemon and it isn’t like she’s going to hold grudges for very long or have a giant outburst about it. She also trust and loves Kamon’s company, so it is frustrating for her to choose her loyalty and trust of someone over her self care. Though much like Alpha she is Kamon’s saving grace when it comes to styling, as she is very aware of style and what looks good. In fact believe it or not, but Kamon’s trainer video made in Kalos was entirely in the taste of Dream. Otherwise Kamon’s video might have flopped. It might also have been her idea to do a video anyway. More like a suggestion and nudging Kamon in that direction. He reluctantly agreed.
She’s not easy to anger. Though she may not be happy if you get her dirty or put something ugly on her that doesn’t feel flattering. She can be kind of a drama queen in that way. Though she is quite mothering to Kamon’s team. Providing them nurture and pampering them. It seems to relax Wish a lot as well. Just like most of Kamon’s Pokemon she won’t let Kamon or the others get harmed. It might be the only time you may see her fiercely angered.
She’s not necessarily fond of King though. He’s too rowdy and messy. Though she gets along well with Flame and Wish the most. She finds Alpha too stuffy even for her taste. And while her personality might have been influenced by a different lifestyle, she’s still inspired and motivated by Kamon’s drive to continue going on.
She may not have started off in Pokemon battles and it might have been a difficult adjustment for her, she admired Kamon took the time to work with her on it. She stays with Kamon because she has found love and acceptance with the team. She trust his word and trust his drive to never give up. She only desires that he takes the time to do things she likes to do. Sometimes she prefers to be glamorous than be dirty and bruised from a battle.
She likes sweet flavored poffins, she likes coffee, and shiny jewelry to put on herself.
Role: Flame uses strong physical attacks to put out his enemies. But King outlast them. Getting tougher and tougher in battle, mowing them down as a bulky physical sweeper. If Flame doesn’t outlast his enemies, King will. He has stamina for days and the strength too. King is probably the only Pokemon of the team that is what you see is what you get. While Kamon is a creative trainer, King enjoys the fight a bit too much to always listen to more strategic plans. Especially in his battle hardened state. Though it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have some tricks. It’s just rare to pull it out of him.
Personality:
King can be the odd Pokemon out in the team. Some of Kamon’s team aren’t entirely sure if he has reformed himself or not. While Flame’s eagerness for battle is out of naivety and a lack of common sense, sometimes even intelligence Alpha states. King eagerness battle is all out of the fact that he simply enjoys battle. The smell and state of blood gets him all hot and bothered. Once he starts, he can’t stop and it takes a lot of Kamon to pull King out of that state.
In fact because of the opposite of their natures it hurts Kamon to try and pull him back mentally when he’s trying to keep King calm and under control. But King is grateful in Kamon who sees something in him and gives him a chance to be a different Pokemon. Old habits, especially ones that have been performed for a very long time are often the oldest to break. Though sometimes Kamon and King repel each other, and it’s been a difficult fight to change King.
Though there are improvements. He does listen better and now listens to Kamon’s commands a bit more. He also allows Kamon to mentally engage with him more. He’s not starting fights with other Pokemon and he’s not beating them up near to death any more. One of the reasons King is at odds with the others is because Kamon couldn’t pull King back and had to physically get in front of King’s attacks to stop him from killing another Pokemon. Injuring his arm in the process. The team have conflicts afraid King will hurt the others or worse hurt Kamon again.
King doesn’t want to hurt Pokemon. He doesn’t want to be a killer. But it is what he was bred to do. Fearful Pokemon make King rush with excitement like a predator ready to take down prey. It’s hard to fight that urge the one his previous trainer gave him. Back then it didn’t matter to King, King didn’t see the harm in it. Slashing and killing, breaking other Pokemon as his trainer laughed and he felt happy alongside his former trainer.
But something touched King’s heart. The tears and anger of another who was upset, even hurt, and stronger angered by his actions. It was the first time King experienced sadness affect him, or experienced the pain of someone else. It was then that King felt regret. And guilt for his actions. King wants to change. King wants to redeem himself and so he does so following Kamon. Hoping one day he can earn the love and trust of the others.
He is actually quite respectful that Kamon even took him and works to help him. Even loves him. Something King had never experienced before. How can someone so angered by his actions, then give him the opportunity to change himself? So King will follow Kamon. Kamon has his loyalty and now his trust. Now King desires the trust of the others.
King is a bit of a glutton he likes to chow down on food. Not only that, but he likes to seek glory and can kind of be known to gloat in battle.
Role: That’s quite a large Gourgeist. Squash’s role in the group is a bit like trying to hit a wall, it stands in your way, opposing, and only really tormenting you with it’s rather adorable demeanor. Gourgeist role in the group is to be a physically defensive tank. Unlike Wish, it doesn’t necessarily support the team with healing and buffs, nor is it like Dream. Flame and King are meant to be big bulky physical sweepers and Alpha is a special sweeper who uses his psychic abilities to overwhelm foes. While Squash sits somewhere in the middle. It can hit pretty decently, but is meant to sit and take damage, while exhausting the foe’s Pokemon trying to break through its defenses. It’s essentially a powerful hitting tank that waste enemy’s time exhausting themselves before they are taken out properly by the quick physical and special sweepers.
Personality:
Cute doesn’t seem to be the aesthetic Kamon is going for, but most when they set their eyes on Squash will note how cute it is. Generally out of the group, it is the most relaxed. Liking to spend it’s time in unusual resting spots, humming to itself quite happily. Some would say the large Gourgeist sitting in empty flowering pots is a reflection of Kamon’s true personality. Considering how Squash and Kamon actually met.
Squash likes to spend it’s downtime relaxing and having a good time, it is often seen - to Kamon’s embarrassment - uprooting flowers from pots to sit in the flower pots, hum, and dance a little to itself. For whatever reason this particular Gourgeist is attracted to incredibly sweet scents and can be kind of mischievous in that aspect. To Kamon’s dismay. One incident in Squash’s pursuit of sweet things lead it to a poffin bakery. In which it decided to eat said poffins. Kamon then had to explain to the officers why it wasn’t technically theft.
Squash is the more childlike and naive Pokemon of Kamon’s team. It seems easily distracted by things that catch its fancy and has a sense of curiosity that can lead others into danger. It seems to generally love Kamon and does love to be held. The only other person allowed to hold Squash is Gardevoir, but that might because it likes her perfume. It just also seems blissfully unaware that it can lead the ones it loves into danger. That or it is truly plotting murder.
While Squash can be relaxed, and is generally a happy little gloomy guy. It does have a vindictive side and holds grudges towards others who upset it in any slight way. And any slight way is at the mercy of what Squash finds an offense. Steal his sweets. He will plot horrible nightmares on you when you sleep. Send wild, possessed flowers to attack you. And any other little petty activity it can think of.
The best way to keep Squash pleased is often to let it do what it wants. The only that seems to be able to manage his behavior is Kamon. Anyone else who tries to tell Squash no might meet their fate with possessed objects, him sitting on their balcony or in their room singing terrible songs, or inducing horrible nightmares where you dream. Even Kamon’s own team can’t seem to manage it from causing mischief. It’s why Kamon find ways to keep Squash entertained.
