Juniper didn't understand a lot of what was being said but scurried back to her seat and put her headphones back on. So, his name was Alex. At least now she knew what he was called and she wouldn't have to spend the new few hours referring to him as the jerk.
Juniper wasn't stupid. She knew bigotry when she heard it and she knew what it sounded like when someone had been taught it. She forced herself to take a deep breath and made a mental note to give him a break.
Juniper was a little surprised by the sudden appearance of the older boy and even more surprised by the glance from him. She tried to focus on the window but couldn't stop her nosey nature. She moved over to the door, trying to listen in on the converstation.
Juniper rolled her eyes. "Sure, whatever you say." She muttered, turning to look out of the window. "I would rather be a muggle than be like you." She hated judgemental people and this guy was one of the most judgemental people she'd ever met. She pulled a small music player from her bag and put her headphones on. "I'm gonna be ignoring you now."
Juniper tilted her head a little at the name. "Whats a muggle? And why are you being such a jerk?" She frowned in annoyance. "You don't even know my name. You don't need to be mean for no reason. You'll end up with no friends acting like that."
Juniper raised an eyebrow at the boy entering the booth she was in. She took the book as a not-so-subtle way of saying don't talk to me. She looked out of the window, grinning. "This is so cool." She muttered. Her cat was curled up on the bench beside her, fast asleep. She couldn't believe she was a witch, couldn't believe she was going somewhere like Hogwarts. It was like some sort of amazing dream.
Juniper noticed the scowl and grinned at the man, giving him an enthusiastic wave. She too was swept up in the flurry of movement and, after managing to say goodbye to her parents, soon found herself on the train. She didn't know a soul at Hogwarts and, as excited as she was, she was as equally nervous. The young girl moved throughout the train and breathed a sigh of relief when she was finally able to locate an empty booth on the train to essentially hide in.
Juniper stood with her muggle parents, bouncing back and forth on the heels of her feet. "Oh my god this is so exciting!"
It was clear from how the parents stood that they were muggles, her father ruffling her hair. "I know buttercup, I can see you're excited." He teased. Her luggage was stacked beside her, a tabby cat curled up on the top of the stack.
Juniper's mum smiled at the pain. "I can't believe my little girl is so grown up!"
