Matti Virta

"You've got my hand."

Matti was glad to see that out of the dysfunctional disarray that was his current guild's members, he would be joined by the one entity he had come to show emotion other than indifference or contempt. He gave a quick nod to acknowledge Bunny's words, his eyebrow rising as the Living Doll approached him with her weapon drawn, but not intimidated in the least; even if she intended to attack, which was utterly ridiculous to even think of at that moment, he trusted in his magic to avoid any injuries on his person. In fact, he believed he was one of the hardest members of the guild to kill by mere blade. "I am glad to see you are motivated, but we could do without our armaments unsheathed."

"Sorry about that, Matti."

Matti responded with an adjustment of his glasses, with a hint of a smile in hi otherwise neutral expression.
"Apology accepted. Now then, though I have no reason to doubt your skills of articulation I must say I prefer I have your sword instead, as I trust you to handle that far better for this particular task. Now then, let us leave at once; we have quests to finish and a new business that requires capital."

During the trip, Matti mostly kept to hovering just off the ground, preferring to let his enchanted boots to do the work for him, but he did take foot every once in a while; as a physician he was very aware of the dangers that atrophying could bring, so he made sure to also give his own legs some activity. He also let Bunny stay on his shoulder if she wanted to, finding her to be quite an amusingly unexpected companion for the quest.

"May I ask you a question about yourself, miss Bunny? As a Living Doll, were you enchanted to life by a wizard, or has demonic essence possessed your current form?"

They arrived at Ambran, which Matti found to his liking; as a trading center it has quickly grown into a respected settlement, bringing goods from all across the world. The enchanter himself hoped he would chance upon a rare find after their mission is complete himself; maybe a lump of meteor ore, or an exotic root for potion brewing. If he was lucky, he could even learn more about his enchanting craft.

But first, they were off to meeting Samuel Cubbage, who told the guild he would meet at the local inn.
"Mister Samuel Cubbage I presume?", he spoke to the group in front of the inn.
"Greetings. I am Matti Virta and this is my companion Bunny; we represent the newly established guild you have sent your request relating to the local region to. Could you give use a more detailed explanation of your request?"
@PaulHaynek
Actually, does the guild have a name? Or do we just refer to it as the Adventurer Guild?
@1Charak2
I think at this point she has already dug up her own grave (wordplay!) with that plan, and surrounded herself with people who won't leave her alone, like Gor and possibly Arletta.
@PaulHaynek
Is the difficulty for the quests static or scaled according to the number and power of the guild members tasked with their completion?
Magnus is going to be a load of bullfun
@Kafka Komedy
I'm fine with that.
Matti Virta

As Matti fully expected, his reasonable request was met with nothing but offensive drivel from the undead sorceress' unwashed vocal chords. His eye twitched at her insult, but he chose to ignore it; after all, she was acting like a mere child herself, pointing fingers at others and blaming them for her own faults. He appreciated Arletta's attempt at bringing peace to the argument, but he could also notice a temper rising from her eyes; it seems the black knightess was not quite as disciplined as he came to believe at first. Maybe it was because she was also undead? That was an inkling of a thought that had rise in him ever since he saw her, and it was something he had to check upon later. Disgusted as he was, he gave the lich a stern glare from behind his reflective glasses.
"Very well then. Let us hope that there won't be any further incidents coming from you, Lich."

He was mildly surprised by Bunny landing on his shoulder and giving her own piece of mind to the undead. He did feel a bit flattered when she mentioned liking the sight of hardworking men, as it was quite unlike the doll's appearance to be so attentive and thoughtful. For a long time, Matti has dreamed of mastering golemization; an enchanting art of bringing inanimate objects to life, knowing it would immortalize his name among scholars and scientists. So he tolerated the Living Doll's presence, maybe even to a slight fondness of the brave monster; something he did not think could happen with his general wariness around monsterkind.

After the lich backed down from her tirade of pathetic self-esteem building, Matti turned to speak with Bast.

"Why, of course Mr. Virta. And please, call me Bast. There is no need for such formality." he said touching his hat in a quick greeting.
"You seem to be a very knowledgeable gentleman, I would be very pleased to have an conversation with you. After Herr Bartholomew comes back, would you like to join me for a cup of tea?"

"I would love to, but first I must write up all the necessary paperwork for the guild hall's renovation. I will be sure to spare a moment of my available time with you, Bast."
After Neil brought the guild into the building, Matti floated above the others, writing down the descriptions for the quests before he head into the storage, making an inventory. When he returned, he gave complete list of necessary costs required for the building's restoration to Neil. "Could you send this to mister Bartholomew? I will be attending the third quest listed on the notice board. It seems to require tools and skills required for charting maps, which I can provide. However," he then spoke, addressing the other guild members present. "I'm expecting the road to be paved with many dangers; human, monster, or otherwise. I work most efficiently with weapon-wielding warriors, so I would greatly appreciate their company if any of them were to join me on this quest."

The scene that followed was one that Freyr didn't wanted to partake. As the litch girl continued with her arrogant tone, even threatening, Matti himself came down from the roof, rather irritated about her behavior. For a second, Freyr thought that they would both try to kill themselves, but unexpectedly, Matti was able to quickly calm himself down, instead choosing to follow the litch lady's demands.

I'm curious to know why Freyr interpreted the scene this way; I think it was apparent from Matti's actions that he didn't condone her behavior at that point, nor was he submitting to her will in any way.

Also, can someone head on over to the Characters Tab and check if I have everyone's characters posted there?

My character sheet is still missing.

@Lady Selune
Ayyy, Selune, glad to see you here! Hopefully writer's block won't strike you again.

So based on the descriptions, quest 1 seems to be a fight-heavy one in a dangerous area, quest 2 is a seeking mission in a forest so fighting there too probably, quest 3 is a cartography-oriented one, quest 4 I have no idea, and quest 5 a fetch quest, probably for something ludicrous like dragon horns or something.

I think I'll have Matti apply for the second third quest, as he fits best as the cartographer. If any weapon-wielder would join him on that he would appreciate it.

@BCTheEntity
I'm content with getting a shot in the firefight, so I'll be holding off on posts for now as well.
