The group of Gunners looked up at the wall in bewilderment. Never had any of them imagined it would be that big or imposing. Monika had passed Necropolis on her and Marius' treck East and she had of course heard the rumours, everyone had. She said to herself then that she wanted to stay as far away as possible. Never in her life did she think she'd come back, especially voluntarily. With one last kiss from her husband that felt like it was over before it even began and an embrace from the other few who volunteered to escort her. She turned and descended the stair case lighting a cigarette on the way down to help calm her nerves.
She descended into the tunnel. Around her were people conversing and drinking. But most sat on their own, most likely knowing what lay ahead. She went to find somewhere to sit, choosing a corner, where hopefully no one would bother her. In that room full of insincere people with insincere smiles. Of course she knew why they wore them but they made her uncomfortable non the less.
Looking for something to take her mind off of what was about to come she took her rifle out and began cleaning it. Noticing other mercs sat around the room each of them as alone as the other. One that caught her eye was a girl lying on a bench singing along to the radio in what seemed to be similar combat armour to her but hers wasn't weary from a few centuries of ware and tear. It looked well looked after and cleaned.
The man built like a tank and wearing what appeared to be most of one was the most imposing figure she could see. He reminded her of the Legion camp leader that took her as a trophy all those years ago. A half smile came across her mouth when she remembered that he was most definitely dead and was dead by her hands.
Holding her locket in her hand and fiddling with the wedding ring on her finger. She thought to herself she already missed her family, trying to hold back a single tear when she was interrupted by the heavy foot steps of power armour. She noticed the girl on the bench immediately go on edge which also set her alarms off. Grabbing the grip of her rifle and putting the locket away she waited to see what would happen.
Seeing the girl on the bench relax again when the two power armoured BoS members entered the room. She could tell from forced body language alone that this was not going to be an enjoyable trip.
She regained her composure after the female BoS mentioned "him". Monika was in no way a genius but she knew who the Paladin was referring too. Leaning back and taking a final puff of her cigarette she went back to quietly cleaning her gun and checking over her equipment. "Just like any other OP" she muttered to herself. "just like any other OP"
Despite her various scars and often cold look, she is very easy on the eye with long flowing auburn hair and deep green eyes that have seen enough torment to last a lifetime. Standing at a height of 5 foot 10 inches, physically fit and is free of any noticeable mutations. Has multiple scars down her back, one on her left cheek and a few needle marks in her left arm. Has one very noticeable burn mark on her upper left shoulder where the Centurion branded her as his property. The burn consists of a circle within which lies the initials L.C.A and under them is the symbol of the Legion, the Bull.

Born in a farming settlement on the border between Colorado and Nebraska to Kurt Weiss and Tina Weiss. She was the Oldest of two, herself and her brother Marius Weiss who was 3 years younger. Though the accent had long since faded her family were the descendants of German immigrants before the Great War and they tried their best to carry that on even if it was only in name. Throughout her childhood, she would witness the Legion raid her settlement stealing food, meds and sometimes people. Always annoyed she was unable to help her father fight them off she spent her late childhood and early teens practising with her fathers hunting rifle quickly showing a knack for marksmanship. At the age of 15 however, her childhood dreams of defending her settlement would soon be crushed when the Legion returned in force and quickly overwhelmed the defenders and took everyone they didn’t kill in the fighting back as slaves. Her father was killed in the fighting, her mother was sold the moment they entered camp, her brother was sent to be trained as a soldier and she was kept by the head of the camp. A Centurion called Lucius Canius Albinus. During the next 5 years, she would perform normal slave acts such as cleaning and cooking. But she would occasionally be made to fight in the arena at the camp against other slaves. She faced a daily life of beatings and other abuse. Once receiving 10 lashes because she spilled water over the visiting legate Lanius. She more often than not just accepted anything that came her way at he camp and she would often wonder whether ending it all in the arena might be a better way to go. However, with the Birth of her son 4 years into her enslavement her perspective changed. While she was still emotionally and physically cold to people she realised she now had a reason to live and not just accept her fate anymore. As luck would have it not even a year later her chance to escape came about. With the death of Caesar, a power struggle erupted and during a fight at her camp she and her son snuck out a hole made in the exterior wall and fled east. Travelling east for almost 2 years she would meet people both savoury and unsavoury but to all of them she came across the same. A cold woman who would do whatever it took to keep her son safe. However, it was when out hunting for food that she would catch the eye of a young Gunner Sergeant named Kyle who would invite her and her son to stay with them as her marksmanship and melee skills developed from the arena could prove useful. But this usefulness was not the only reason Kyle took an interest in her. Over the next year she would find comfort in the group and especially with Kyle. Who had been the only person after her family who she had actually had feelings for. Within the next year the two were married and she finally felt her barriers could be brought down. Upon receiving the message from the Pariah however, her barriers went immediately back up as the thought of having to leave her comfort zone without her son or her new husband to keep her together whirled around her mind. But the thought of being able to bring back riches to give her family a better life quickly put those to rest. So Monika sets out away from her friends and family to answer the Pariahs call. With the thought of her son safe with her husband, she knows that even if she fails he will have a good life.
It was a warm summers day, The Brahmin were content, the crops were growing well and the Sun shone proudly in the sky. Monika opened the door to her house and stepped outside. She saw her brother running and playing with his friends. Her mother and father were working in the field and she had the day free. It had been a week since Monika's 15th birthday and everything seemed to be going pretty much the same as usual. The Legion carried on with their raids, very low level. That was, until today.
He appeared on the horizon with his army of Legionaries. The man Monika would wish a horrible, slow and agonizing death upon for the next five years. An entire Centuria for one settlement of about 20 families. All to prove a point he would later explain to her. A point that no one could defy the will of Caesar forever. He gave them no warning, no conditions to meet that might stop the slaughter. He simply gave the order to attack and that was that. The men, The elderly any who resisted, All slaughtered. The women and the children. They weren't so lucky as to be killed. For them, a fate worse than death was waiting.
Monika watched on in horror as Lucius cut her father down like he was nothing, a mere Radroach under his boot. As her mother was dragged behind the house by a group of Legionaries and as her brother was bound and dragged away. Then Lucius came for her. He kicked in the door to her house and dragged her out by the arm, all the while she kicked and screamed, desperately trying to get away but it was hopeless. "I like this little bitches spirit. I think I'll keep her to myself, Tiberius get me my branding iron." Lucius exclaimed as he dragged Monika away with the other captives. Monika looked back at the village in horror, the destruction, the pain, the suffering that the Legion had caused. It lit a fire in her that still burns to this day. A fire that won't go out until she sees every member of the Legion she comes across dead.
It was a cold and brisk Winter morning as Monika blew a breath of hot air into her hands and rubbed them together. Unholstering her hunting rifle from her shoulder she went prone and took aim. *Bang* the shot could probably be heard from quite a way but it reached its target. The Radstag fell to the floor Lifeless. It was dirty and dangerous work especially with Yao Guai in the area, but it kept her and Marius under a roof and fed so she really had no choice. She walked over to the carcass and pulled out her Machete to trim the bits that the butcher didn't want. She could charge more caps for less animal if she did this.
*Crack* A branch broke behind her and on instinct, she drew her 10mm as she spun around. "Gotta admit, those are some quick reactions. And that was a beautiful shot. Not many can down a Fully grown Radstag in one shot." The man said. He was a tall man about 6ft2 by her reckoning, quite a well-built man with broad shoulders and strong arms. He had quite a square face but in a strong way, deep blue eyes and short black hair. "Name's Kyle, and I could have a use for someone like you, why don't you stop by the Gunner Plaza in town if you're interested in a job." Monika put her Pistol back in its holster as it became clear the man wasn't a threat but she remained silent, she didn't fancy making small talk with a strange man. As she bound and picked up the carcass she could feel the man's eyes looking over her eyeing her up she left.
It wasn't too far of a walk back to the settlement she was hired by maybe an hour or so away, but she couldn't get the man off of her mind the whole way there. The way he spoke, the way he acted it was very....genuine, "Plus he was...kinda cute." she thought. "Looks like a successful hunt, this will definitely feed us all for a week or so, how's 750 caps sound?" The butcher said holding out a bag, "Sounds perfect." Monika said giving the old man a smile before turning and walking out the door. Now all she had to do was head back into town to the city built in the Shopping mall and fetch Marius so they could head home for the night. Monika had met a lovely old couple who owned a bar in the city and had offered caps if they would look after him for her, while she went out and worked doing whatever would pay the most for her skill set.
As she went through the main entrance of the mall she could immediately tell something was off, there were a lot more people around who were armed than usual and they all seemed to be together. A few of the residents said hello as she passed and she returned in kind. Walking up the stairs made of a long since broken escalator she noticed that a guard was stationed outside the bar. "Sorry love, but no one's allowed in till we're finished got it." The man said as she approached, she noticed his Gunner tattoo and figured that someone inside must be in some shit. The man looked like he would pass for more of a raider than a Gunner. he was skinny, very skinny like a drug addict, with a sunken face and a very raspy voice. "Look," She with a sigh. "I'm just here for my son, I'll go in, get him and leave. I won't bother any of you." "Sorry girly, no dice." the man responded "Fine, I'll just wait out here then." As she turned to walk and stand away from the man he reached out and grabbed her arm. "What's a pretty little thing like you doing with a kid already anyway." She felt his other hand come up and grab her ass. It was a natural response like she'd done it a hundred times before. She spun around and punched the man staggering him, in the same motion she drew her Machete and cut the mans arm off at the elbow. He gave a rather audible scream afterwards before collapsing to the floor from shock.
Monika opened the door to the bar and threw the mans still bleeding body to the floor in front of the Gunners "Sorry boys, but it looks like you need a better...guard." It was then that she saw him, the man from the forest, standing at the bar arguing with another customer about some money he owed them. "Oh...it's you," He said turning his head towards her. "We did wonder what all the commotion was. Thought any more on my offer?" He asked inquisitively "Not really no." She said in an unconvincing tone. She hadn't been able to get him or his offer out of her head all day. "And anyway, I'm not here for a business meeting," "Mommy" came a small voice from a side room, as Marius, only three at the time came waddling out. Monika took a knee and picked him up, holding him to her shoulder. "Thank you, Joan." She said to the old lady who came out behind him. reaching into her pocket with her free hand. "Here's the caps for today plus a little extra for any trouble I just caused. I don't have work for a couple days now so I'll see you next week." She said as she turned away but before she could leave a couple of other Gunners moved into the doorway to block her. "You're not going anywhere, miss," Kyle said in an authoritative tone. I must say, Ken. Thank you very much for pointing us in her direction. You were right she could be very useful for our line of work." Kyle said talking to the old man behind the bar. "Now...I'm not going to force you into making a decision," He said moving over towards her. "But I'd really like you to reconsider my offer, think of it, a safe place to stay for both you and him, warm food and regular pay. Surely that's got to be better than surviving off of hunting Radstag?" He looked down at the man lying bleeding on the floor before putting a bullet in him. "Besides you do owe us a team member, sure we might not have liked him and sure we might have put him outside deliberately because we knew what he'd try to do to you. But you seem like more than good enough to replace him." Monika sighed "Fine...We'll go with you. But touch me or my son and it won't just be him who'll have lost an arm today." she said looking back at the now dead man on the floor. "Good choice. Welcome to the Gunners Monika, I think we're going to get along swimmingly."
It was a Fresh spring morning in Hartford. Business had dried up for the Gunners as of late, it seemed that for some reason no one wanted someone else dead or someplace protected. So they had to start fending for themselves. Monika had been sent on a scavenging op along with Kyle and a dozen others from the Detachment. Infront of them stood the University, it looked as though it hadn't been touched let alone scavenged in 200 years. "Alright we're here" Commander Sharp barked at the Group. "Lieutenant, you and lover boy take 2nd squad and head up to the Library, see if there's anything good in there we can sell or scrap for parts. Markus, take 3rd and head to the science lab. There's bound to be some good shit in there. 1st and I will stay here and cover the entrance, we've had word the Brotherhood is in town. So don't forget your fucking Pulse Grenades, those things are expensive as hell but they'll take the wind out of anyone in Power Armour long enough for you to kill em. we don't want them getting any gear before we do.
Monika pulled up her bandana to hide that her cheeks had blushed when Commander Sharp called Kyle lover boy. The two had been together for six months or so by this point but it still felt so new to her, she still fealt scared by it all but at the same time she was on cloud nine whenever he was around. "Yes sir, Alright 2nd squad on me" It immediately became clear on entry why the university hadn't been scavenged yet, inside there were all manner of pre-war robots on the lose. Protectrons, various Mr Handy Models and an Assaultron with its weapons stripped. It was a slog to get up to the 3rd floor where the library was with a couple dozen robots between them and their target room.
For the first time during an op Monika and her squad had not suffered a casualty. There were a few laser weapon injuries, but the last 200 years had not been kind to the power of the protectrons hand lasers so they were not much of a challenge at all. The library was a large expansive room that overlooked a courtyard in the middles of the building. The bookcases were vast and numerous standing at, at least 12-15ft tall. Considering it had been 200 years a lot of the books were still actually readable which made a refreshing change. Monika wasn't exactly certain what the commander wanted them to look for in the library, perhaps to stip the terminals for electronics. For now, though Monika found herself drawn to a book that was in the hand of the skeleton behind the main desk. "Dantes Divine Comedy" seemed interesting enough Monika thought as she flipped through the pages. "Abandon hope all ye who enter here. hmm bit grim." "What did you say Mon?" a voice came from behind her "Uh, oh nothing Sergeant." she said in a quiet tone before turning to the rest of the squad who all seemed engrossed in other books. "Right guys, enough of that, start stripping terminals for anyth... She was cut off mid-sentence by the sound of Vertibirds flying overhead, which was followed by the sounds of sporadic gunfire from the front entrance. "Shit grab your gear assholes. Looks like the fights come to us today." As the squad hurried back down the stairs towards the front lobby they met 3rd squad who came up from the research labs in the basement and they seemed to have hit the jackpot. two suits of Power Armour, a T-45 and a T-51B plus some high-quality laser rifles and a Gatling Laser. As the two squads left the building they could see that the gunfight had stopped and that Commander Sharp and the Paladin leading the Brotherhood team were engaged in a conversation from behind their respective cover position. "We were here first, fuck off you Power Armoured Boy Scouts. All you fuckers do is throw your weight around to push others away from all the good gear so you can just have it for yourself. You're no better than raiders, you just act all offical about it." no one else knew what a boy scout was but Commander Sharp was a ghoul from pre-war so he had a lot of saying no one understood. "Filthy Ghoul, you and your men will leave this building at once. The technology inside should not be allowed into the hands of some wastelander, I already grow tired of this conversation. Ad Victorium Brothers, show these wastelanders not to get in our way again."
A large firefight erupted almost instantly with Monika and co scrambling for cover to avoid the flurry of laser shots coming their way. Two were hit and killed outright. Monika scrambled to grab their Pulse grenades, she was going to need them. With the two Power Armoured Gunners giving exceptional cover fire Monika and her squad flanked around to the left side of the courtyard and took up positions to fire. she fired a small burst and wounded a Brotherhood soldier who was just in combat armour. she fired again and forced another to find new cover. It seemed she and her squad had garnered some unwanted attention as before they could react the Paladin and another knight were upon them. *Slam* one of her squad was sent flying by the impact of the Power Armoured charge and smacked into a wall leaving a bloody streak as she slid down to the floor. The sound of a laser rifle going off turned her attention to see another of her squad being gunned down at point blank range.
It was just her and Kyle left. And she was gonna make damn sure that nothing happened to him, Kyle who was a very well-built man easily able to crush lesser beings and even take on a Super Mutant for a short while was busy beating the shit out of the Knight in front of him with a Super Sledge he carried around. Safe with the knowledge that Kyle could handle himself with the knight Monika turned her attention to the Paladin. Pulling one of the Pulse Grenades from her bandolier she threw it at his feet, there was a crack and a fizzle as it went off and the Paladins suit ground to a halt. Taking advantage of his momentary paralysis Monika ran behind him and ripped the Fusion Core from its socket and threw it far behind her. The armour sprung open and out jumped a bulky man. standing around 6ft5 he easily dwarfed Monika but that was something she could use "Clever girl" The Paladin hissed "Never thought you'd resort to cheating to win" "Cheating? Says the walking talking tank." Monika said unsheathing her Machete from its holster on her right leg. Their fight itself was fairly short unlike Kyle' long protracted smackdown with a Super Sledge, Monika was an experienced Duelist who relished a challenge like this. Especially against an arrogant over-confident opponent like this Paladin who underestimated her during every step of the fight. It was just like fighting Lucius, she thought. One block after another Punches being thrown all over. With one sweep of the legs, Monika was on her ass and the Paladin stood triumphant over her. Picking up her machete he looked down at her and raised his arm to thrust. "MON NO!" A booming voice came running over and the next thing she knew the Paladin was sent flying by the impact of Kyle' Super Sledge. "Are you ok?" Kyle said giving her a hand to her feet. "Don't you go dying on me ok" "Oh shut up." She replied in a playful tone as she went over to the Paladins body and took his holotags as a trophy.
Looking around it was clear the battle was over. And while casualties were high the Gunners had successfully fought off the Brotherhood. She turned to look at Kyle who had already walked over to her. holding out his hand he showed her the holotags of the knight he had pummeled to death "I know you like souvenirs, so I thought you'd like these." Monika smiled and took Kyles hand. "Assholes!" Sharp exclaimed as he kicked the injured Initiate in front of him. "Go back to your Elder and tell them They can't push us around as easily as some helpless settler."
Blue skies, white clouds, green pastures, peace and tranquillity, these were things Monika hadn't seen since her time before her enslavement. Yet she suddenly found herself surrounded by it all, in an open, empty field. Looking down at herself, she realised she was no longer wearing her gear that she is usually found in, but in clean, fresh clothes like the ones before Viewing her surroundings, she noticed a figure not too far away from her, the only thing aside from fields that seemed to be around for miles.
She got to her feet, thinking that maybe the person could shed some light as to why she's suddenly found herself in what felt like a whole new reality. It was only after a few steps that she realised who the figure was- it was Marius. She blinked several times, unable to believe what he was seeing. "M-Marius?" Monika called out. He turned to her and gave a blank expression. "Marius! It's-it's you! Oh, my God, I can't believe you're alive!" She yelled, not acknowledging his expression
She made her way over to him ready to hug him and bring him into her embrace. Though her joy was short lived when he stopped her with his hand. Monika's face turned from overjoyed to confused by Marius's rejection towards her, after a few moments, he spoke; "...Why?" He said "What do you mean, why? Marius, what's going on." "You...you let them take me, didn't even try to stop them and after years apart you were more than happy to kill me, your own Brother." "What?! Marius I didn't-I didn't want too. But you didn't exactly give me a choice d-did you?" A tear began to roll down her cheek.
Monika fell to her knees and looked down at her hands. They were covered in blood, his blood. Looking back up, the green fields and the beautiful sky had been replaced with the arena and a blood red sky. And Marius was no longer standing before her. Instead, his body was lying on the ground in front of her. "N-No, Marius I...I didn't want to; I shouldn't have had to. Bu-But you're the one who asked for the fight, n-not me." The tears were coming on fast and strong now. "O-Oh god, what have I done." her head fell into her hands as she began sobbing "Marius, I'm sorry, I'm so sor-". She was cut short by a smack to the face.
Monika jerked up in bed, hyperventilating and covered in a cold sweat. She looked down to her left and noticed that Kyle had rolled over and most likely slapped her unintentionally in his sleep. Realising she probably wasn't going to get back to sleep after that, she decided to get up and go for a smoke. Putting her shirt on and checking in on Marius's room before she went "I'm sure you'll do the name proud sweetheart. Your Uncle was a good kid before they took him." She whispered as she closed the door to let him continue sleeping. Stepping out onto the balcony that their top floor apartment had. The building was an old pre-war apartment building five floors high. That overlooked a park with a pond in the middle of it. The Gunners had found it and turned it and the park into a makeshift base camp for their detachment to use."Being an officer certainly has its advantages." She thought as she leant on the railing looking out onto the park that lay before her. The beautifully clear night sky and its many stars were mesmerising to look at as she lit her cigarette. She didn't want to, but her mind couldn't help revisiting that day in the arena, the jeering legionaries and the fear that swept over her like a wave as she looked at the bloodlust in her brothers' eyes. She shivered at the thought.
Her thought train was stopped when she heard the door open behind her, and a familiar set footsteps come up behind her. "You ok hon?" Kyle asked, wiping the sleep from his eyes before wrapping his arms around her waist. and kissing the back of her head. Monika sighed "Yeah, I'm fine." She said in a very unconvincing tone. But Kyle didn't believe a single word of it but knew all to well not to press her when she was in this kind of mood. "I know you'll talk when you're ready but at least come back inside, it's going to get really cold tonight," Kyle said releasing her from his arms and turning for the door. Monika continued looking out over the balcony and as the door closed behind her a tear or two rolled down her cheek.

Hey there good lookin- despite the very uttering of the words making her want to throw up, Monika has never been afraid to use her looks and only her looks to get something she wants.
I can fix that- Over the years Monika has had to become good at repair. Mostly to her own armour and weapons, she can still fix most types of combat armour and kinetic weapons.
Sure, that’s definitely safe to eat- through her time as a slave Monika learned that even given limited ingredients she is quite a gifted chef.
Let momma kiss it better- from a couple years of wandering the wasteland Monika had to learn through bitter experience how to treat wounds, so she is proficient at basic wounds and even bullet wounds to an extent.

Decent melee combatant- From her time in the arena Monika had to learn to punch, kick and swing swords to guarantee her survival, even picking up a few martial art moves along the way. Whilst being in no way able to take on a stronger person let alone a super mutant she can still hold her own in a knife fight for a time.
Punching bag- through the tough times of her late teens Monika quickly learnt how to block out the pain as much as possible meaning that now she can take a few punches anywhere before finally feeling them.
Commando Pro- From her two years so far in the gunners, Monika has ditched her more traditional rifle and instead opted for a carbine or an SMG to better suit the more urban environment she found herself operating in so she excels at short range gun fights.
Stalker- when hunting for food she quickly learned camouflage was for the best and as such prepared her uniform suitably.

With the thought of her son safe with her husband she knows that even if she fails he will have a good life.

Decent melee combatant- From her time in the arena Monika had to learn to punch kick and swing swords to guarantee her survival, even picking up a few martial art moves along the way.
Commando Pro- From her two years so far in the gunners, Monika has ditched her more traditional rifle and instead opt for a carbine or an SMG to better suit the more urban environment she found herself operating in so she excels at short range gun fights.
Stalker- when hunting for food she quickly learned camouflage was for the best and as such prepared her uniform suitably.
