You awake, the cell you had fallen asleep in was now locked. Staring at the door, you here gunfire outside and angry chatter comes across your old, beaten radio, picking up the channels of the soldiers outside. On the wall, you see a very quickly-done graffiti in plain white paint, one you didn’t notice in your sleep-deprived state in the pitch dark. It’s a warning, and one you’ve seen often on your travels, in search of the man they call the Shepherd.

”Don’t trust the Rangers, don’t play with the Children, and don’t listen to Reason.”

Will this be the last time you see this warning?

Answering that question is difficult. If you would like to know where in the world you are, it is quite simply put: New York City… Or, rather, what’s left of it. It hasn’t quite been the Big Apple for nearly 18 years. What happened? Well, that question is also quite hard to answer. A whole generation of children have been raised in this world that we live in, not many people are still left that remember what it was really like. There is one man that remembers the downfall of man vividly, or so the rumours say, and his name is the Shepherd. He is the guide from the warring tribal lands of the East to the refugee camps nestled in the Blue Mountains, Black Hills, and the Bailey Range in what was Washington. The journey which normally can take three or four months, is said to only take a four weeks with the Shepherd.

So, before we lose track, where you are is within reach of refuge within safe camps, if you can find the Shepherd in his hiding places within the ruins of New York. But remember to heed the warnings…

Try to keep it realistic, not everyone is going to have a high quality weapon with lots of ammunition 20 years after the end of civilization, and not everyone is going to be able to carry 150lbs on their back day in and day out.

I R U STILL HAVE ROOM?
Go home, Ruarc, you're drunk.
Apparently, Dylan, more people care than I thought. Welp, herpderp. Let's get this OOC going, dammit. Blindness and birthdays are no excuse!
Most Marines on the water are on Amphibious Assault Ships, not destroyers. Destroyers more commonly deploy a SEAL Team, like the James.
Bump. Anyone else? We've got four people, we're gonna need a little bit more!

I know. :p

So, my friend introduced me to this new show/book called the Last Ship. Pretty interesting. Here's the premise:

After a new global pandemic kills or sickens possibly over 90% of the world's population, the crew (consisting of 217 men and women) of a lone unaffected U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer, the fictional USS Nathan James (DDG-151) on deployment in the arctic for weapons testing, must now try to find a cure and stop the virus in order to save humanity.

I have a few interesting ideas for how to put a little bit of an original twist on the story, ranging from zombification to a much more advanced, yet... Secret... Twist.

Who'd be interested in sailing under the banner of the US Navy? :D
