name: Marcus Adain
age: 16
species: Fae
powers: Like all Fae, he can sense the dreams of others, and can move within the dreams of another while they sleep. This ability can be used to spy on others’ dreams (and manipulate the dreams), and to send messages.
As a Púca, he can shapeshift. He masters three forms: a housecat, a raven, and a black panther.
He can choose whether to morph just one body part or go into a full-body transformation, like changing only his eyes (to see better in the dark) or morph is fingers into claws (for combat).
Cold-forged iron suppresses his powers, and burns on contact.
Ordinary iron and steel, however, are the same to him as to an ordinary mortal.
sexuality: Bi, but relationships are not top priority.

bio: Marcus is a Púca, one of a kind of shapeshifting Fae from Celtic legend.
Most of the other kinds of Fae left long ago and live on in the world of spirit and interact less and less with mortals other than in their dreams, but the Púca took the opposite route, taking on physical form and becoming shape-shifters with bonds to animals.
Some choose to live along with animals to protect them, others lead lives of hedonism among humans.
Marcus is the youngest of his clan. His elders think him useful enough to be sent to the school as a way to “try the waters” for his people.

Other: Being a rather sneaky sort who uses stealth both to survive in the wild and interact with humans, he has a good ear for languages, and likes visual arts. He’s more curious about human culture than he lets on.

Interesting concept. I've got a character at the ready, and this feels like a nice way to get a feel for them, and for forum-RP'ing to try something fun but not too serious together.
Hi! Hope I'm not too late to get started. I've written a character concept, and can post it up if it's okay.
Hi! It's such a pleasant surprise to see a Mage: the Ascension thread!

I think I got a character concept: an Ahl-i-Batin mage who works as an ambassador for the Sultanate of Rûm, is stationed at Constantinople, and is a bit of a Sherlock-wannabe who wants to use his abilities to unweave the web of intrigues around him. His motivation would be the typical "human unity"-thing which is central to the Ahl-i-Batin philosophy. As for backstory, I have an inkling - what kind of guy would want to live so far away from his own family and people?
Does that sound like a promising character concept?

I hope this story can get a proper lift-off. It would be so fun to experience cWoD as a mage again.
Four years ago, you posted this RP. I made a character, and then chickened out. Here I am again, making a character in secret. What is it that draws me here?

40K has that charm from being A) a very detailed and fun setting that has room for nearly anything you want, and B) a setting that has the same effect as when you're at a disaster zone: you know it's dark and bloody as heck, yet you can't bring yourself to look away.

Personally, I'm torn between the choice of Astropath and some kind of poor put-upon translator who wants to promote peace and cooperation but whose wishes clash quite harshly with the daily realities of the 42nd Millennium...
Knees.
Hmmm... I get a *fun* mental image of a disinherited foppish Marienburger with an unhealthy fascination for the occult throwing his lot with a mercenary band to sustain his unhealthy appetites for pleasure and adventure. That sound like a slice of fried gold?
Welcome to the guild! I imagine with that selection you'll get along just fine here.

Yeah, it's kinda like that, and it is pretty close to the mythological source material, when you think about it.

Tons of ancient mythical heroes did not get to live to old age, and almost always die as a result from losing their temper or falling to one of their vices: Bellerophon goes crazy with hubris and tries storming Mt. Olympus, and Zeus fries him with his thunderbolt.
Jason betrayed his wife and died in loneliness. Rama drowned himself after his wife committed suicide for him not trusting her, et cetera.

So many kinds of Limit Break...

I guess you might have some extra-spicy Exalted anecdotes to share?
Many welcomes, o fellow roleplayer. I hope you'll find plenty of opportunities to show the skills you've refined over the years of joyous roleplaying.
Ooooh, this is a tough one.
I'm more of a fan of the Bronze Age (and well, the late Iron Age too, I guess) so many of the Iron Age civilizations tend to have had a great and long history during the Bronze Age as well.
I love the ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Carthaginians, India and Greece (though Iron Age India and Greece, especially the Maha Janapadas and the Classical and Hellenistic Ages are more interesting than the Harappans and Mycenaeans, respectively). I can read cuneiform Akkadian, and have some knowledge of hieroglyphs since I was seven - I'm such a nerd, lol.

The kind of plot that I'd like would be to RP the intrigues in a grand city states. There could perhaps be different factions that the players might want to join, like a merchant's guild, a temple, a noble house, etc., and vying for supremacy. Another cool idea would be to have the roleplay take place at the start of the Iron Age, after the Bronze Age collapse, and have the story be about the end of the heroic age (Iron Age cultures like the Greeks looked back upon the Bronze Age as the age of gods and heroes).
