Well I have some questions. Lets say one of our characters dies in the future but they can't see their own future and they wouldn't know, right? What if they see the future of someone who witnessed their deaths?
Or when they are doing an activity in a crowded environment they see parts of the future from everyone to map this blank anomaly that is themselves that they can't predict the future of.
Like for example, some sea creatures have the ability to feel their surrounding area all around(360 degree angle) by utilizing the pressure displacement of water. As in, "water is surrounding a fish shaped creature that is swimming at x speed" so by feeling the water they can "see" said creature.

Stop right there. People roleplay different things for different reasons, even same things for different reasons. You can't define the point of role-playing for someone....
Me for example, I might want to role-play as a master so those living legends address to me as "Master" or because of the idea that I have control over them and can issue commands to them.

Edit: Idk why everyone should have the same background and same exact reasons for coming into town. Maybe the characters can have different reasons that have a common ground, lines that cross together and as long as that cross section lasts they will work together as it benefits them.

I really liked the inheritance thing so I'm going with "a relative disappeared so their nephew, next in line for the inheritance, came to claim his legacy"

When it comes to meshing the elements, I'd say anything that's not completely contradictory (IE: light and shadow) could combine in at least some way shape or form.
