Mmkay, I see. I should also clarify, I’m not looking to do a fandom. Borrowing a few ideas here and there is chill, but i don’t really want to follow a fandom to the letter, especially not one I don’t know. I’d rather mesh together some original ideas. It seems you might be looking for more of a fandom...
Ah most excellent, it does. I’m not familiar with the Dresden files so if you’re intending to base your system off of that, you might have to bring me up to speed. But I like where this is going.

So question...my character, Rohaan, is a shapeshifter. The ability is somewhere between physiological and magical. Aka he is not human but ther is magic sort of in his blood, so to speak. Kind of how unicorns or sirens have inherent magic, so does he, but it only pertains to the shape shifting. He has no other magical abilities. In this system/universe of ours, how do we want to address that? Like...are there people who have “wild” magic, as well as spellcasters and inherently magical creatures (like a unicorn)? I’m imagining a highly specific one-trick-pony kind of thing, like someone’s magic could be speaking with animals, disrupting tech, etc.

Speaking of tech, what level are we going for exactly? Was leaning more toward modern but potentially more futuristic, even if only slightly.

And as far as game limiters go, we could also have magic be something of a “controlled substance”. Either highly regulated, or maybe those with wild/inherent Magic are not trustworthy/feared etc. plus I think there should be some device or substance that outright disrupts magic (for the sake of having some way to disable Rohaan’s shifting ability if the plot requires it/in a fight etc).
Can you elaborate on that a bit? I have no idea what those are.

Also I don’t think I specified but I’m looking for someone who can write high casual/advanced, so I do expect a good deal of characterization and development (though I don’t need to know all your secrets!)
Well, whatcha got?
I haven't done much in the way of urban fantasy but I'd like to play with it. Specifically, I've got a shapeshifter criminal character I'd love to play around with in a near/futuristic setting. He's a thief, a bit of an anarchist in a way (but only kind of), and more than kind of an arsonist. He's very much a 'grey morality' kind of character who often does a lot of the right things in not always the best ways.

As a shapeshifter, he's pretty powerful. Which is why it's way more fun if other characters (both allies and villains) are also really powerful in their own ways, either through magic type stuff, or tech. In other words, I'm looking to have a "big" vibe.

As far as "plot" goes, I like to be pretty open with things and begin with some little jumping off point, maybe a single short-term goal, or a chance interaction that leads us to kind of develop something more concrete together as we go. Some of my thoughts include:

Group/individual recruits him to help out with bounty hunting, monster hunting, or some other kind of activity that might benefit from a shapeshifting theif/arsonist/criminal.

Bouncing off the first idea, but more specific: My character gets himself caught by the law and a detective/agent cuts him a deal in exchange for help bringing in a particularly heinous and elusive criminal/crime group

Up-and-coming thief crosses paths with him on a heist and they wind up partnering (either to hit a really big job or maybe as a mentor/apprentice kind of dynamic)

I don't know, I'm just spitballing, here. I'd love to hear other ideas you might have, too, I'm really open!
Fair enough. Well I might still be interested. Gotta give some thought as to what I’d do for a character and stuff.
I’m intrigued, and I’ve got a shapeshifter criminal character that would be so fun. Maybe this group tracks him down and convinces him to join (perhaps just for one mission at first but he sticks around). Takes a criminal to catch a criminal, etc. He’s a shapeshifter (can be animal and humanoid but can’t copy mutant powers) and so he’s got a lot of power, but if our other characters are very powerful and our big bass are ah, well, big, it can work well. He does have some built in power limits too so that helps.
Bump
No worries take your time!
Ridahne had wondered why Darin was so hesitant about stripping her clothes in front of her. Was it a human custom not to? She had heard something about nakedness in human culture, and how it could in some contexts be a very big deal. Like if a man saw a woman naked who was not his wife, humans found that very bad. It was not necessarily encouraged in Azurei, but it was not uncommon for female messengers or other servants to enter the men's side of the baths or vice versa, and it was inconsequential for both parties. Privacy was good, but there was nothing to be ashamed about the body. Maybe that wasn't the case in human lands?

But then it started to click as Darin followed her, clothed, into the baths. If she had no clothes, there would be nowhere to hide the Seed, and Darin would never leave it behind. Of course. Ridahne couldn't believe she didn't think of it sooner. "Nonsense! I know the stable is a place of comfort for you, but in a way, this is--was--is? my house. And my most honored guest deserves good lodgings. I'm sure they gave us lodging on the second floor--I'll see to it a bath is drawn up for you there. It'll be more ordinary, but there will still be nice soap and it will be private." Ridahne was not going to put into words why that was important, but her eyes were knowing and understanding. "Besides, if you thought road dust was bad, you haven't experienced southern Azurei dust. It's everywhere. Here, you get clean when you can, so I'd take the opportunity. As for sleeping quarters, I'd thought about spending the night in the barracks myself, actually."
Ajoran snorted from the other side of the divider. "You mean to tell me you've been given private rooms by the Sols and you wanna come sleep with the rest of us rabble?"
"That rabble is my people as much as it is yours, Ajoran," she teased. "I wouldn't mind seeing Eija Salei again, and a few others if they...ah...if they haven't totally written me off as a murderer. I...did...kill one of their own. For good reason or no, that can be hard to deal with." The warrior shrugged it off. "Those barracks feel more like home to me than fancy guest rooms. You're welcome to join us, Darin. And," she added with a small chuckle, "It's probably the safest place in all of Astra. I'd like to watch the Red Hand come at either of us in a room full of Eija and Taja."

Ridahne took a breath, steadying herself. It wasn't the promise that set her on edge; she really wanted Darin there. But it was the reminder of the event itself, of the one last demon she had yet to confront. She was both rearing to go and wishing she could avoid it at the same time. Her stomach twisted a little at the thought, but she dipped her head in a solemn nod. "Aye, I promise. I want the both of you there with me. Let's go just before sunrise, and we'll get breakfast after." She didn't think she could even eat breakfast beforehand. Maybe she wouldn't be able to after, either. Ridahne really had no idea how that was going to go, because from minute to minute, she felt some different mix of indifference, searing rage, grief, bitterness, relief, and peace.
