History Post:
The Empire of Elduran lasted for tens of thousands of years. It was a rich empire, colonising and settling countless worlds in its time, growing rich off the resources of numerous solar systems that they conquered. Following millennia of expansion, the Elduran stopped spreading their boundaries, and instead simply studied the other lifeforms they shared the galaxy with. Six thousand years ago, they found the Araeneolus, a tribal species of Arachnoids. Feeling an interest in the development of this newly found species, the Elduran used their psionic abilities to advance the evolution of the spider creatures a few thousand years, leading to the creatures more closely resembling humanoids, not knowing such an action would come back to destroy them. About twenty-five hundred years ago, the Elduran studied a strange, pink skinned species in the Sol system. They may have stayed too long, as the creatures and their barbaric customs rubbed off on the scouts hidden among them. When the Elduran returned to their homeworld, they brought strange stories of a powerful religious culture, wealthy empires, crumbling ruins, tribal nomads, and barbaric rituals of sacrifice. Of all those things, the strange stories of the Catholic Church gave the Elduran pause. At first, the Elduran saw it as a good source of control in their Empire, to copy the practices and manipulations of this alien religion, but eventually it toppled their old pantheons, and a new monotheism in a grand Maker took root. The Elduran continually sent scouts to the planet of Earth, bringing back data and information in regards to the beliefs and practices. Eventually they began copying lessons from Buddhism, Islam, and Judaism, along with the original lessons they received from the Church. Disregarding the idea of a Divine being walking in the form of Jesus Christ, the Elduran started a new branch of Catholicism, that simply honoured prophets and their own 'saints', while worshiping a single, 'God' figure. However, the first impression is the greatest, and their Empire quickly began resembling the older Church, and Inquisitions began across the galaxy, as the now heretical polytheist religions were chased out of the Elduran culture. The Elduran eventually stopped visiting the Sol system, when the humanoids developed enough that they could no longer hide their presence, and as such they missed the development of modern religion, leading to a very traditional religious culture. The Empire spent countless years after this religious conversion in isolation, developing some of the most advanced technologies the galaxy had ever seen, but infighting and civil wars fractured the empire into multiple factions. Golden ages, art movements, and long periods of bloodshed went by in the Empire, with none but the Elduran to even notice. And so as the rest of the galaxy either conquered territory or banded with others, the Elduran shrank in size, influence, and reputation. It was not until the Dark Wars of the Spider that the galaxy took any more notice of the Elduran and their empire. The galaxy watched in horror as a young galactic race, the Araeneolus, left their own home system, leaving behind subjugated and wartorn worlds in their wake as they traveled. Young worlds not yet ready to face space crumbled, new galactic kingdoms devoured, and as seen with the Elduran, ancient and powerful Empire were consumed utterly. The Elduran fought viciously until the end, but it was useless. The Araeneolus conquered their worlds, one by one, enslaving and literally devouring the Elduran populace as they went. Finally, in just recent years, the Araeneolus descended on the Elduran homeworld, what had been the seat of a galactic empire for longer than human civilisation had even existed. Like the previous Elduran worlds, it fell quickly. The Empress herself feasted on the Elduran royal family, while leaving only two members alive. The Elduran Empire had fallen. It's military was forced to conjoin with their recent enemies, the people were either left autonomous but under watch, or they were enslaved. Nowadays it is a common sight to see a high ranking Araeneolus accompanied by multiple Elduran slaves. The Araeneolus look at the Elduran with great respect, despite this apparent mistreatment. After all, the Elduran led to the greatness of their empire. They are one of very few species the Araeneolus left alive and left mostly autonomous. Still, that doesn't prevent the Arachnoids from devouring Elduran from time to time, and they often treat their slaves as blood bags and pleasure toys for their sustenance and amusement. The Araeneolus also adopted the religion of the Elduran early on, when the first worlds were being conquered a couple hundred years ago, as like the Elduran, they saw it as an incredibly efficient way to control. Since the fall of the Elduran Empire, the Araeneolus have become the unopposed power in that sector of the galaxy, and surprisingly seem to have slowed down. Some hope this means the creatures have satisfied themselves with what they conquered, but most theorists will say that the most likely outcome for this cease in expansion is in fact the amount of losses sustained during the wars with the Elduran, as well as Araeneolus hope that the Elduaran military and technology will have time to integrate into their own empire. Only time will tell if their imperialism will continue, but it is believed that the only forces that can stop the expansion is the TGGD and the New Earth Federation, powerful powers that intimidate even the great Spider Empire.
