Well, the way I usually play it when I'm on the demon is that there are lesser demons. Plus, it's kind of like asking, how does a human capture another human without getting captured themselves? It's the same concept, essentially. They're the same species, but that doesn't mean that they're all on an equal playing field. So I'd say a lot of these are lesser, or maybe they're stronger in different ways but your demon's got wit and cleverness on his side.
