Brief History: Miguel was born in south central LA to Hector and Maria Santiago, both of which came to the country illegally. Miguel's life was hard, Miguel's father hector had be deported, around the time of his 2nd birthday being the oldest of four Miguel was forced watch over them. Maria was a young mother who worked hard for her children, every morning she was awake before everyone to make breakfast and walk miguel to school. She was the typical super mom, Was there to take her son to school and to pick him up and cook dinner. She did all this while working as a secretary at a law firm, she always worked hard and did her best at everything. As the years went on and the family grew more and more was put onto miguel's shoulders. At 15 years old Miguel had taken over many of his mothers jobs for his siblings. Miguel cooked, cleaned, helped with homework, and did whatever he could to help his mother.
While he was happy to help his mother, all this work came with some problems. In order to help he could never go out with friends after school, as he had to go pick up his siblings from day care. Miguel also never had any meaningful romantic relationships, sure he dated here and there, but few girls would put up the constant younger brother or sister hanging around him all the time. As Miguel got older and his siblings could take care themselves better he started to spend more time out. Like most people his age he would go to party or two, get drunk and maybe roll a blunt and get high. From time to time he would get picked up by the police for doing something stupid. His mother, while mad as all hell, figured he had earned some time to just be a kid.
At the age of 18 Miguel graduated high school and went to work as a mechanic. While he enjoyed it, he wanted to do something more in life. one day one of his friends showed him a hand out from a four year college. After reading that it offered a music major, accepted older students and offered scholarships in both his field and his economic status he applied to the school.
