The Kawagana
The members of the Kawagana Clan were known for their wisdom and knowledge. They spent most of their days with their heads buried in books or scrolls rather than on the front lines of battle. Those who did serve as Shinigami were normally in the Medical Division or strategists – it is rare to find a Kawagana fighting on the front lines.
They were known for their gentle nature and there was a calm serenity about them that made it look as if they were not fazed in the slightest by danger.

Personality:
To her peers and division, Arina is a graceful, intelligent, however, sometimes brash woman. Always calm, and very rarely serious, she tends to mock and play rather than settle into work. Although she can be empathetic, she also can come off blunt, and often points it out when people are letting their emotions get the better of them. Coming from one of the great families, she was treated like a princess from the moment she was born – and despite the eradication of her clan, she still carries herself with respect, even though she has an unnecessary gift of making everything she wears look immodest. She has an incredibly flirtatious nature and has a knack for getting up close and personal with everyone, with hardly any regard for personal space.
Under her playful and flirtatious façade, however, lies a skilled manipulator who uses any means necessary to achieve her goals. Her main personality attributes are a strong survival instinct and sense of self-sufficiency - with a particularly adaptive nature which allows her to easily switch alliances when she needs to.
Ruthless and calculating, Arina has no problem killing to get what she wants or using others to do her own bidding. She doesn’t like getting her own hands dirty, but will when she is backed into a corner. She has a tendency to hold grudges, but is completely uncaring when it comes to people insulting her. She is highly strategic in her planning, insisting that she has many back up plans to her goals – however, she is also impatient and sometimes lets her own arrogance get the better of her.
Because she has so much confidence in herself, she is often rattled when someone manages to deceive her. She is very resilient, but she borders on self-destructive at many moments.
It takes much for her rage to break and she detests any emotions that could cause her to lose control. Her hollow smile is only ever traded for a scowl when she is forced to work – and her personality is like that of a switch. The ruthless and cunning girl bubbles to the surface. She is loyal to the Gotei 13, and so, when her Division is placed in danger, she will have no qualms about eliminating the danger without a single question. She is a cold soldier and will carry out most orders given without a second thought.

Arina and her Zanpakuto don't get along in the slightest. She is often grumbling about how difficult and snobby Hinazuka can be. This can make it... interesting in battle when Arina tries to release her Shikai, and nothing happens.

Shikai special ability:
The power of Hinazuka is shadow-based, however, the way in which it uses the shadows is special. The ribbons that hang off the scythe and the handle are constantly creating shadows, in which Arina is then able to manipulate and warp to her will. Her Shikai, essentially allows her to change the consistency of the shadow; for instance, hardening them to be used as extensions of her blade, or making them incorporeal, allowing her to enter them and travel through them at a disquieting pace.
Shikai skills:1. Bōryoku-tekina Itami (Violent Pain)
Once spoken, a dark circle appears below the enem. Once the circle is fully formed, and several tendrils of shadow rise into the air before curving down toward the target, striking down as arches that pierce into the enemy from above.
2. Akuma Mori (Demon lance)
Arina slashes her Scythe in an upwards motion towards the sky, flinging the tendrils of shadows upwards into the air where they morph into four lances. She then brings her scythe down and the lances detach, raining down on her enemy. She cannot control these after they have detached from her Scythe.
3. Jigoku Shōheki (Infernal Barrier)
Arina stabs the blade of her Scythe into the ground, and the ribbons join together, creating a black shadow sphere that encloses her inside before it hardens. It make for a good defense, but can be shattered by enough brute force, or a Captains attack.
4. Hidoi ho (Unholy Stride)
This allows her to travel through the tendrils of her shadows in a Shunpo - allowing her to slip through the cover of darkness.
5. Yami Kyōsaku (Dark Constriction)
the tendrils of shadow from Arina's Scythe wrap around her opponent, binding them as they constrict like that of a snake. Arina can then harden them and use the tendrils as blade. Before she can do this however, she must have them completely bound - if she hardens the tendrils too soon, her opponent has a better chance of snapping them.
6. Kodai no dai Sanji (Ancient Catastrophe)
This is probably the most draining ability Arina possesses. She wraps herself in the ribbons of her scythe and throws the blade upwards. Four balls of dark shadows rise from the ground around her. As Arina changes her pose, the balls circle around for a moment, then stop, growing larger during the process. She then encloses herself with a black sphere before the four balls release their energy. Her barrier then reflects the energy into a Kido like blast which erupts from the circumference of the sphere. Arina very rarely uses this ability as it takes a large toll on her body.
Bankai skills:
Kōkatsuna Kugutsu (Insidious marionette)
Arina's Bankai morphs all the shadows together to make a demonic shadow entity. The spirit of Hinazuka manifests her true self before her opponent, making up for the physical strength Arina lacks. The demon does not speak, it simply makes animalistic noises as it’s claws, as sharp as double edged swords, slice open new wounds on it’s victim. However, when the shadow demon is injured, the injuries are transferred to Arina.
This ability allows her to control it from a distance, while she goes about the battle in a strategic way - perhaps slipping behind an unsuspecting enemy while the shadow demon keeps them distracted. Her range; however, is limited - for instance, from her office, she would not be able to manifest the spirit over in the rukon district. He is, however, be able to control it within the range of the Second Division Barracks. She's working to expand it, however - this is proving harder than she originally thought.
Arina’s control over her Bankai is... rocky. Because she and Hinazuka do not get along, Hinazuka very rarely listens to Arina, and she often loses control. Arina cannot ensure that Hinazuka will not attack her or her comrades - so her Bankai has become a last resort.
Arina's stamina with her Bankai is exceptional - however, any Captain and perhaps a few of her lieutenants would be able to outlast her.
