That's hilarious, Draex! Watching them try to cut the damn tree was great.
Cecily had to admit, her Togepi's frank rejection stung quite a bit at first. She retracted the hand it had just slapped and jutted her lower lips out in a childish pout. Togepi had its little arms crossed across its body, and its head was tilted up and away, refusing to look at her. Cecily tried to get Togepi to look at her, but every time she moved to where it had been staring, Togepi would simply hop a little and face the other way. The defiant and steely look on its face had been too much for her to handle, and she burst out giggling. "You're the best," she told the egg-like Pokémon, nuzzling its head affectionately despite its protests.

"We're gonna be partners, you know," she said, smiling excitedly. Togepi still wouldn't look at her, but she could tell it was paying attention, however begrudgingly. Her smile grew at the thought. Even though they've only spent all of two minutes with each other, she already felt like she was starting to understand the little Pokémon. The stubbornness and the snubbing meant she had a lot of trust-earning in her agenda. "I swear I won't let you down, okay?"

That seemed to placate Togepi, and although there was a small furrow between its eyes as it turned to finally look at her, it seemed it was going to accept her as its partner—at least provisionally. Cecily grinned again. Her face was starting to hurt from all the smiling, but that didn't seem like something to complain about. "So, partner, do you feel like a 'Humpty'?" she asked, then laughed when Togepi's face scrunched up in disgust. "Right. Then, um, Jack?" Togepi shook its head again, so Cecily continued to list off names, most of them from the fairy tales she loved so much. Peter. Robin. Hansel. Togepi shook its head at her suggestions, somehow making different disdainful (read: adorable) expressions each time, until finally one caught its fancy.

Andre had come up to them just then. "Oui, je suis de Vaniville," she answered, easily slipping into her native tongue despite her infrequent use. Her grandparents had spent most of their life in Unova, so she'd grown up with their preference for English. "I'm Cecily Cain and this," she beckoned at the Togepi standing by her leg, staring at the flamboyant movie star in the same appraising manner as it did with Cecily, "is Oz the Dragonsbane."

The Togepi preened at the sound of its chosen name, obviously overjoyed with how imposing it sounds. Cecily bit her lower lip to keep from giggling at Oz, then turned back to Andre. "Oh, right! You're Andre Bellamy," she said, as if she'd just realized who he was, and started reaching for a small notebook in her satchel. "My sister's a big fan and she'd love it if—"

Before she had the chance to ask Andre for his autograph, the purple-haired girl raced toward them in another display of boundless energy that made Cecily envy her all over again. She had come to talk to Andre and introduced her awesome Honedge as Fi. Cecily waved at her, smiling affably. "Lou—err, Abigail, right? Hello, I'm Cecily."
I don't see a problem with it, since we've only just begun. :D
We haven't been hearing from Bird or Fox lately either.
The first thing Jemma did after she and Sven had stopped to convene at a rooftop was to check the boy for any injuries. She nodded and smiled up at him once her inspection was through, relieved that he seemed unscathed. Her own wounds were gradually smarting less, and she assured herself that it shouldn't be long before she'd be able to ignore the pain. It made her wonder about the others, though. The Titan she fought had gotten to one of their own, and it could be anyone. She had been separated from her group as soon as they were dispatched, but one of them could have easily been around when the Titan was rampaging through the street. Or it could be one of her friends. What if it had been Erika? Sven would be heartbroken.

"Listen," she said, just as Sven started to point out her injuries.

Both of them stopped midsentence when Xavier landed just a few yards away from where they were. She welcomed the bigger cadet with another relieved smile, even though she winced a little at the blood trickling down his temple. It's nothing Big Red couldn't handle, she thought, sure of his vitality. She thought of Xavier as her antithesis: tall when she was small, strong and sturdy when she was light and flimsy, precise when she was reckless. He could definitely brush this off.

After getting praised, Jemma became flustered, like she always gets in the face of a compliment. But then she laughed at the how ludicrous she was being. They were in the middle of an attack, injured and still quite in danger, and here she was being shy about a casual mention of her kill. She shook her head, as if that would throw all the absurd away, and gently knocked her knuckles against Xavier's shoulder. "Thanks," she said and grinned yet again.

Xavier proceeded to get them up to speed with what was happening in all the chaos. Titans. Outer wall. Bait. That was all Jemma needed to hear. She thought she would mind it more, being relegated to live bait, but she felt oddly motivated. If they expected her to die today, then they would be sorely disappointed.

Not long after Big Red had arrived, Aurora arrived with even bleaker news. She didn't know how to respond well in delicate situations like these, so instead she wordlessly walked toward Aurora and squeezed her shoulder in condolence. That was all the time they could spend mourning them, just a passing moment. The death toll only seems to hike up each day, but what Jemma found most terrifying was how insignificant death has become.

Dash came next, with a tear-stained face and a somber call to action that Sven answered. Right. Now that they've all gathered and settled, it was time to do their duty. Jemma desperately wanted to crack wise, to lighten the mood some and up their fighting spirit, but was struggling to find the right words. It was then that Erika came, and she felt another surge of relief wash over her. She always thought losing family was the worst thing that could happen, and she definitely didn't want to see Sven break into pieces if anything happened to Erika or vice versa.

"If you all want to be bait, then we should head out now," Erika had said, sounding as irritable as ever.

Jemma mustered another grin, one that seemed determined and confident all at once despite the slight hint of worry dancing in her eyes. "You heard cranky Ms. Number One. Let's go," she said, firing the hooks on the nearby buildings as she readied to fling across to follow Erika. The pain in her back and her leg didn't go away like she hoped, but couldn't bring herself to care. Instead, she drowned herself in the whirring noises of the 3DMG and steeled herself for the upcoming encounter. "We can do this!" she told the group, even though she was probably trying to convince herself.
Sorry for the hold up! Been a little busy. I'll try to have something up by tomorrow, though.
Oh, and Berry, I think you missed Bird's CS?
Professor Willow came back quicker than she thought he would, with a bag filled with really varied Pokémon to boot. He gestured to the pokeballs he had arranged neatly on the table and one by one, the soon-to-be trainers had lined up to grab their very first Pokémon. Slow to react, Cecily had been pushed near the end of the line. She peered curiously at each trainer as they chose their Pokémon, her eyes alight with unadulterated joy as she shared in their excitement. The first that had gone was Mr. Movie Star, and he was quick with his decision. A Cleffa. Cecily smiled, thinking they seemed to suit each other well just as Andre (the Andre Bellamy—she still couldn't wait to tell her sister all about it) happily exclaimed how the two of them matched.

A Starly was picked next, and it seemed to form an instant bond with its trainer. She wondered idly whether she'd be able to form a connection with her own Pokémon just as fast. The loud girl—she really ought to find out her name, referring to her as the ‘loud girl’ seemed sort of rude—had ran up to the table so vigorously, Cecily found herself feeling jealous. She wondered if she could share some of her vigor with her since there seemed to be enough for at least three people. In any case, Abigail Linwood (as she theatrically cried out just moments ago) had chosen a Honedge. Cecily remembered reading about it. The Sword Pokémon. It was said they were born when a spirit inhabits a sword, and that they would drain a person's energy should they ever dare to grab its hilt. But that probably was just a myth, because Abigail had clearly grabbed onto its hilt and she still had energy to spare.

Then it was that quiet book boy, who took a little longer to select his. Unlike Abigail (he seemed like the antithesis of her, honestly), he didn't make a scene, going instead to a corner to get familiar with his Beldum. Then he went back to his book, which must be really really interesting if he couldn't wait to go back to reading it even after getting his own Pokémon. Anyway, hands down her favorite part had been Mr. Grumpyface randomly choosing his. His expression was the best, especially when he was being all nonchalant just seconds before. His Igglybuff was adorable, and by the look of it, completely not what he expected. She definitely wanted to see how the dynamic between them would develop.

Cecily's turn came after the raven-haired guy who had gotten a Larvitar. Slowly and thoroughly, she inspected the remaining pokeballs. The Happiny was the first to catch her eye. She'd grown up around Chanseys and Blisseys, so she knew just how to take care of them. But then she saw the Togepi, and it instantly reminded her of her favorite fairy tale. It was about the curious girl who followed a Bunnelby down a hole and into a world with talking Pokémon. Later on, she'd come across a Togepi that had sat on the wall and talked about the most nonsensical things. When it fell, no one could put it back together again, not the Ponyta, the Rapidash, or even the mythical Keldeo.

Cecily grinned to herself and quickly reached for the Togepi's pokeball, then quickly stepped out of the others' way. Once she found a space for herself, she pressed on the trigger button on the pokeball and released her new partner. Cecily was practically oozing with giddiness as the Togepi appeared before her, as amazing as she thought it would be. "Hi there," she greeted it, bending down to extend a hand to it. "My name's Cecily."

The Togepi looked up at her, as if assessing the girl smiling like an idiot, then shook its head. It responded with the cutest "priii" she'd ever heard before slapping her hand and turning away with a huff and a scowl.
