Are Medusa's body hairs actually just tiny snakes?

Bio

I'm a sucker for romance, sci fi, fantasy and just about any modern city with a twist like monster hunting or super powers. Been writing for years, I didn't learn how to read till I was 12 so the moment I got the hang of it, I could not stop. Filling journals with stories one after the other, my younger sister eventually got me into role playing and it created a monster. I will play with you all day if you reply, post for post and will give you as much detail as I can.

Name: Kaite Marie, now known as Xafina Nareen for her act

Age: 20

Gender: female

Appearance:

Personality: Xafina is at first seen to be a vary soft spoken and carefully poetic person at first glance. A shy thing that would never be the first to approach to most that see her she keeps to herself with a constant far away and clouded gaze.

Yet those who see her in her element will say otherwise. A challenging woman who will demand the upmost respect and will return it when she sees fit. When she has the support of one of her companions at her back she gains a boost of confidence so different that some think its inhuman to see such a change in her. Voicing her opinion to the point that she can even be called rude at times. Yet the moment she realizes shes in the wrong she will revert back to her timid soft spoken self and seek the company of those who do not speak her language after apologizing relentlessly.

History: Kaite was pretty much born blind, caused by the deterioration of her retinas when colour had not been fully produced due to being albino. When faced with this challenge her parents done everything they could to make sure that their youngest child would be able to have a normal life. Introducing her to music that she found she could not play but enjoyed, and reading her stories that she can not read, yet found she could picture in her own way.
When she was six however was when things began to change. Her aunt moving back to the country from competing in jumping was armed with four stallions, Kaite had become infatuated with the creatures. Massive beasts with power like non she had ever felt. Once her parents found her missing only to find her between the hooves of a percuron stallion that stood at 17 hands. Saying she could have been killed her aunt countered with saying she had a gift that was unlike the normal rider and so she began to teach her niece how to ride.

It did not take long for the Marie family to find that their tiny albino of a daughter had a connection with the animals. Found carefully feeling her way through the barn she would only speed up when a horse nicked. When she would walk amoung humans armed with a cane she would take slow shuffled steps, yet on the back of a equine one could see her going full speed down the arena as though she were possessed by the spirits of hunters.
Because of this it was beyond difficult to find friends. She didn't want them, why would you want to become friends with people who constantly put you down because you had weird hair and eyes, or would leave you behind to go and play when you had the power of a stallion waiting egarly at your beck and call back home?

And so Kaite began to live and breath the life of the horse woman. Learning everything she could she took to competing in dressage and even trick riding. Something her parents are beyond against when seeing their "frail" blind child stand tall on the back of a horse or let her body fall, grazing the ground next to the thundering hooves of 40mph. And so to keep up with the demands of wanting to compete for herself instead of her aunt she bought two freisian stallions. Realizing that their appearance complemented hers and gave her the prefect chance to entrance a judge when in the ring. Those two creatures named Loki and Mischief became her true friends. The ones to know all her secrets, the ones who caused her pain, but were the ones to apologize.

Though shes done this without realizing she put her family on hold, loosing contact with them for years as she took to the arenas and soaking in the attention that someone like her would have never gotten had it not been for her aunt. Even changing her name to Xafine Nareen to fit her appearance more. Living in the Marie home yet it seemed as though her and her parents were strangers to each other
But even so she was forced to go to collage even after wanting to go to the Olympics one day so that she dose not loose sight of whats actually important. Though she keeps her horse life and normal school as far as she can so she can avoid distractions her family began to find that she dose not put even a fraction of efforts to her studies as she dose to her horses.

Armed with disability and her winnings from shows and competition she found she has been able to fuel her obsession, her life style kept from class mates she's been seen at the back of the room. Though once when she was in class she dropped her pencil, feeling across the floor her fingers grasped a smooth texture with distinct holes forming a pattern that was not quit Braille, asking what it was someone told her it was a die yet no one claimed it.

Specializations:
high: Perception
Due to loosing her sight Xafina is beyond attuned to her surroundings using sound, touch and smell. Shes been known to be able to tell if someone is lying based on their speech patterns and has been known to guess people and horses appearance such as weight, gender and sometimes uses it in the show arena to find if an animal is injured or coming up lame. Her cane is all she needs to find her way around the world, and shes been able to work even without it when in the arena.

average: Agility,
working with horses has caused her to be light on her feet. Though she has almost no hand eye coordination, for someone without her sense of sight she is top notch. Able to use the sounds around her she has dodged her fair share of gym equipment or ducked out of the way from a spooked horse.

low: calmness
Due to her soft spoken nature and working with such large animals her entire life, Xafina has found her way out of bullying, and hardships just from the air around her alone. Even with her inability to approach someone on her own, shes found others have come to seek her help when in hard times, stating that her voice and even appearance is a soft and welcome sight that often calms the mind. This is sometimes disbanded though when she is at work with someone or something stubborn and shes at a show.

Imperfections:
high: strength
Even though shes been seen thrown from the back of a horse and gotten up just fine, or able to hold onto one when it spooked. The girl can not throw a punch, shes found endurance and strength to be two different things, only able to lift sixty pounds on a really good day and not for long she would be at the losing end if someone thought it was a good idea to beat up a cripple.

average: Perfectionist
She can't stand the thought of loosing. Her entire life was made around one thing and when her name is not called in the arena she sometimes finds herself breaking down. The same can be seen for school, or even something as simply as not living up to someone expectations such as when someone thought she would be some ethereal presences of fantasy when in reality she was a timid horse woman. Shes never handled defeat well.

low: independence
The disability that allowed her to be so good at what she dose is also one of her greatest downfalls. She can't read anything unless its in Braille, she can't tell if someone is making a strange face at her and can only notice the tone through sound and feeling. There are many times were she can not go out because she needs a guide. When shes introduced to a new place someone has to be with her multiple times in order for her to get a feel for it, and if something is wrong for her she will not know till someone points it out such as messy hair, something on her cloths or even a injury such as a bruise or even bleeding when she thought she just scraped herself. Even then she still tries to be independent.

Other: she is a major nerd for fantasy. One of her dreams is to become apart of a ren fair equine team and be known as a snow elf. You can tell her what things like LoTR looks like for hours and she will still never get board of it and will often go listen to the movies by herself if she has to.

I understand if you think there are too many character but if its aright may I join? I have a new character I made and really wanted to try her out for a while now but never found a good place to start and this looks like a lot of fun.
@Gurren1

Feel free to tell me if I post too much. I'm usually used to going between people for 4-7 hours when I have free time so I'll do my best to not leave people in the dust or have any of my characters get into too much.
The Vault

@Gurren1

She watched the male with a brow raised arms crossed as she began to calculate her pay. 20 caps, not to bad for just a day of work, but it wasn't that she was interested in. The moment she told her sister what was going on the red head had already began to try and crack what she called another code in life. A few plans in her pocket neatly written by the girl herself. The girl's words ringing in Eden's head. "just give these to whoever in charge, I still can't find a power source big enough but maybe they do."

She recalled her sister trying to explain exactly what it was she was trying to build but honestly she couldn't get her mind around it. The girl was gifted in the mind in a way that Eden could never understand. Watching the others begin to move, some trying to sell explosives and ammunition for a handful of caps she began to shoulder her way through the main camps. Ignoring the stares one or two gave her as she looked through the tents trying to pin point the guff looking male that gave out commands.

"What's your business?"
A soldier armed gave her no time. His glare a hash one for a thief she simply put her hands in her pockets, giving no sign of attack as she nodded her head to the pathway the man went through. "I have something for him" her voice was quite, a bit hoarse even from ill use yet the guard did not seem to buy her explanation.

Rolling her eyes she looked back at him, a piercing stare when he said that everything can be given to the traders, not their commander. Not one for charisma she simply rose her arm, her knuckles knocking on the shack door in a rasp due to her gauntlets while she maintained eye contact with the one who tried to stop her.

Ignoring the others she pulled out the plans her sister made when she heard the door. Neat hand writing for every side, every circuit of the creation that was being pulled from the girl's mind with beyond detailed explanations of what was needed, the only thing that was missing was a power source. "Just an idea" her job from Auroa complete she locked her gaze with him for only a moment before she was pulled away, apologise echoing through the air while she made no further attempt to run, instead trying to find something she could use to get her hours in.

"Thats it! Why didn't I think of it sooner!"

The sound of wheels over steel and concrete bounced off the wall inside the work space. The red head having to hold her arms out against the wall to stop herself when she turned her chair. Documents on the shelves she was already grabbing them, bring forth calculations from her head alone as she furiously began to write. The components of a compressed laser rifle with a battery pack the size of a fat man lye on the table. A creation from her mind alone, looking to be an ugly thing till one saw the amount of power it could have.

A pen in hand, the paper began to fill again, fusion cores showing up in detailed art works as she crated the image from memory in every component. "If I use a fusion core as an initial battery and take out the original calibration for power out put I could make it even stronger but....." A sigh escaping her lips she leaned back in her chair, the break-less wheels causing her to slid across the room as she looked at the ceiling. "But the amount of juice needed to cut a vault door would make it good for only a few minutes....God dammit!"

Running her hands furiously through her mane she groaned. Hopefully Eden did as she asked. The idea that pepole were trapped was eating away at her mind and yet every answer she came up with also had a problem included. "Why can't I have some lost tech or something?" Putting her hands back on the wheels of her chair she began to roll, getting back to work to try and find the answer at a different angle, her hand reaching for the radio she turned it to the news to find whats going on in the world only for a story covering a weapons specialist by the name of forge.

Ears perking at the sound she stopped her hands for a moment. Listing in when the person on the other end began to explain how a brilliant weapons enthusiast killed another customer because he didn't respect a commission that was made. A shudder running down her spine Aurora shook her head. That is someone she would not want to cross paths with. What was his idea on respect? Did it change and he would just snap at anyone?

Yet another crazy idea began to creep in her mind. She was stuck, her sister had no idea how to help her with getting the vault open and she needed another mind. The radio was her main connection to the outside besides Eden and so, with a heavy breath she changed the channel, bringing out a mic she made a while ago without her sibling’s knowledge as she connected with the trading posts.

"Hello? Testing, yes this is a weapons smith calling in about mr forge, dose he. Dose he talk to people on radio at all?" Already she was picking up her pen again, trying to get the information needed in order to contact the crazy person.
@Gurren1

Its fine, just glad that its good to go. Thought to start around the vault would be the best idea.

It was hot

A dry heat that relentlessly came over the skin in sheets. Leather armour slick underneath made even more uncomfortable by the constant weight of gear as though a punishment to add on to the many. Yet even so no one seemed to have been complaining, shirts wrapped around heads with others trying to find ways to purify the contaminated water that was available to all those daring.

The sound of footsteps over the dry water bed was constant. The crinkling noise of excited whispers acting as an annoyance while a woman sat on a dusty stone. Hunched over in a laxed position it was easy to tell she was someone that had embraced the life of the wasteland. Body toned and scarred, a harshness about her while holding a hide bound book seeming to have been faded for anyone else to enjoy but her golden eyes alone.
It was somehow a strange sight. Just a woman reading a book in the dry sun soaked heat. Yet once the gaze feel passed her to the looming door of vault 33 it became obvious that she somehow did not really belong. Her ears could still hear the muffled cries and whimpers that helplessly cried for any aid, screams for help and in acknowledgement she turned a page.

"What are you doing?"
Raising a brow the woman looked up, almost board when seeing one of the workers. Lathered in sweat and caked from head to toe in dirt from hard labour. A strain expression on his face. Realizing what the question was trying to gain she simply began to read again, once again turning the page.
"Why aren’t you helping?"

Her reading halting for a moment she began to glare, standing only to find that she was built sturdier than some. Without a word she turned to leave, carefully placing the book in a pouch at her side, her footsteps soft and stride confident, instead making her way to the mercanaris as she took her place in the shade, ignoring the others yet seeming to belong, her arms crossed with her back to a wall, head down and tracing the pattern of her boots. She was just like them, not there out of the compassion for those trapped and the secrets guarded. But another move in her own survival and those she's connected to.

"Don't mind that one, she shows up, never says a word and dose as shes told. Good woman, don't go ruining that." Her ears perked at the voices, another one sitting on the back of a gelding spoke with a smugness about him, a familiar face that asked her what she was working for this time.

Realizing it was her source of payment she simply pointed to the box labled junk. Her bag was full of bottle caps to last her a bit already, she didn't need to carry or want to hold more due to the idea of a mugging. Instead she saw the chance for new materials for someone that deserved it more than herself.

Aurora

In a small shack located a few miles away from the vault, the sounds of muffled machines could be heard. Steel plated walls and a perfectly smooth concrete floor, tools littering the floor with a suit of power amour glistening in the the artificial light from generators.

Skilfully working on the amour, hands delicate and swift, working the circuit board hidden within the suit's chest. A smile gracing the woman's lips as she continued to work hard. Her red hair tied in a pony tail with gold eyes focused on every wire, every fuse, every single spark.
"This will work, it has to work."

Her voice was soft, reaching down she positioned a wooden block between her tires again to keep from sleeping before getting back to work. Papers littering the floor around her causing the woman to look back at the detailed designs periodically. The world outside a blur, and the dry heat kept relatively cool from the fan inside.
Name: Eden Reen

Appearance: A wild woman of the wastelands, skin tanned from always staying outside, golden eyes, long curly brown hair that goes past her waist, almost always matted with a head band made of leather. A more toned form than anything standing in at around 5,7- 5,8

Age: Shes lost track but thinks its around 22

Personality: An almost feral air around her. Living in the wasteland to survive with her family as a child had done some damage to her. Learning to trust her instincts shes usually extremely closed off. Only speaking when needing to. The only one who sees the almost motherly nature from her is her younger sister.

Faction: She'll work for anyone that will offer protection for her sister.

Equipment: Donned in leather armour and a sniper rifle slung over her back she carries a blade with a compartment for irradiated blood to insure that if a threat crosses her they will fall one way or another. A lighter and pocket knife used as tools as well as a slightly burnt journal that looks to have been read far more than it was intended to.

Skills:Sneaking is what kept her alive, A sharp shooter like no other in her old settlement, shes been using her ability to become an exceptional hunter. Some thinking she has the ability to subdue any creature due to her following her instincts and is sometimes able to ward off what many would call dangerous beasts, though some would find that shes just learned their habits after hunting them down for so long.

History: Living with her family on a small farm like settlement, Eden and her younger sister Aurora collected extra caps for their family by collecting strange radiated herbs and trading them to travailing doctors. Their dream was to get a Gallows horse and ride through the fields by night when the skies were not so harsh. Yet everything changed when raiders came, slaughtering everyone she knew as though they were the cattle they raised they destroyed everything, taking all that would have some use. Taking her father's gun from his corpse she killed her first human yet she had no time to even vomit. Her sister's screams were enough to tell her that they had to get out and get out fast.
By the time she found her, Aurora was unconscious and obviously hurt. It was from the killing of everything they knew that created the person that was able to get their life savings and safely steal her and her sister away into the night. She did not stop until she found another settlement, and it was there that local doctor had given her the news that might as well have been a death sentence in the new world they found themselves in.

Name: Aurora Reen

Appearance: Deep red curly hair that reaches her mid back, a vary clean appearance and kind golden eyes that are identical to her sister's fair skinned from almost always being inside she seems to somehow have become a lady in such a place as the apocalypse. Even if that lady has almost always been caught wearing old worn in overalls.

Age: 19

Personality: A soft spoken woman with a mind like no other. A kind smile to all, she can have a few witty come backs, a charismatic person so long as you can get her away from a book or work.

Faction: Shes been wanting to use her talents for more, but has no idea where she should go.

Equipment: A trusty tool box of anything and everything. From crow bars she found in the trash to screw drivers and wrenches her sister found for her in the abandoned cities. The only thing she keeps on her at all times is a pocket knife that holds a cork screw, nail file, lock pick and a vary vary small screw driver.

Skills: She will never be able to fight and so has worked on sharpening her mind. Working around lost technology she became obsessed with upgrading weapons and military works such as power armour. Always tinkering with things with no fear from a fat man waiting to be loaded to a child's toy that no longer ran. Her memory being top notch she found she had a knack for all things that she saw as a puzzle waiting to be solved.

History: She doesn’t remember much from the night that haunts her older sister. Only that she heard her parents yelling and her legs were tingling for a bit. After that she found herself in a bed, a strange sensation in her belly with her sister in tears as she spoke with a doctor who explained that she would never walk again.
Life had been hell after that. She could not remember when she was left alone outside to enjoy the sun or her own independence. Being stuck in a chair meant that now her sister fought to keep her protected from those who would take advantage of a cripple. From becoming someone's punching bag to even whoring herself out just to keep her little sister safe. Aurora has know the entire story of what Eden was doing for her and had taken a toll but was also one of the things that sparked her need to be useful and learn how to use her mind to help her older sister.
Shes still setting aside extra money shes been getting from fixing random things people bring her to buy a gllows horse so that she can finally walk alongside her sister. For now she lives in a one bedroom hut attached to a garage where shes seen more than her fare share of family owned body guards.
