Perhaps... ;)
It's funny, I'm actually working on a French Canadian character myself... :D
I'm curious to see how the two will interact...
We burn them at the stake. Of course.

She uses body language? Must have missed it!

Yeah, looks something like this:
:: Saila Eman Tsal ::

Saila merely raised an eyebrow at Daniel's exuberant display, face blank and betraying no emotions. Extra-dimentional storage power most likely, and doing nothing to hide it... What could he be trying to say? Was he trying to warn others that he could have a full arsenal of weapons on his person at all times? That he was sufficiently confident in his powers that he didn't mind telling the whole class about them? Maybe he was trying to imply that he could have contraband hidden in his storage space? Or could he simply be using this as a cover to conceal a completely different ability altogether? Sometimes there is no better place to hide than in plain sight... For all they knew, he could be a power mimic in disguise, or something of the sort... Or maybe he could just have another, more subtle ability as well? He could be intentionally misleading them into thinking his powers were much weaker than they actually were? Or maybe-...

Or maybe... a quiet voice in the back of the head interrupted amusedly. ...you're overthinking everything again and he's just a kid who wanted to show off his abilities? You know... like a normal person? Not everyone has to turn everything into a subtle Machiavellian power play you know? People can just be leading normal lives every once in a while... Not everyone's a paranoid wreck who sees danger everywhere like y-...

Saila quickly cut off that line of thinking and returned focus to the class instead. At the front, the long-coat wearing boy and pensive looking girl who had volunteered were soon joined by the tense looking young man who was hanging out with the ferrokinetic earlier, a rough looking boy with a stern attitude and a predatory young woman with an appearance strongly reminiscent of a vampire's. A female blond followed shortly behind. They were respectively introduced as Daniel, Aislin, Matthew, Zackary, Vespera and Kristen, and some of them gave a brief description or demonstration of their powers. Daniel had the inter-dimensional storage space, Matthew was an omnikinetic (!), Zackary a telekinetic and Vespera appeared to be some sort of darkness manipulator.

An omnikinetic? Saila pondered silently. Impressive power. Probably the class ten student the teacher was talking about...

Adam instructed them to start practicing on their own, as he and the Mrs. Ravencroft began giving the volunteers personalised instruction. Most of the students seemed to take that as meaning they were free to chat and socialize, while others simply looked at the people at the front as they practiced. Since Matthias had apparently elected to go with the group fighting in the arena, that left Saila alone for the time being, free to observe the class unnoticed. There were several students with unusual appearances, such as the girl with the urchin on her back or the boy who looked like some sort of aquatic creature. A girl not to far away, the one with the elaborate costume, made some sort of improvised swing by tying long strips of cloth to a support beam on the ceiling. Interesting power...

Unsure of what exactly they were meant to be doing, Saila decided to approach her group and try to get a little bit more information. The people in it all seemed like they might be returning students, and seemed like the ones closest to actually doing anything with their powers. Besides, the potentially cerebral girl was among them, so it would provide an amusing opportunity to test that theory. Silently walking up to Deborah, the young mutant inquired:

"My apologies for bothering you, but I was wondering what exactly we are supposed to be doing right now. This is my first day here, so I am not really quite sure. Should we not all be practicing our abilities by now? Or is this simply meant to be a waiting period until the actual activities start?"
... And then there's Saila who makes pretty much everyone but Red shit question marks... :D
Red could probably still read the odd body language like an open book...
It's probably going to drive Deborah crazy. As far as her power is concerned, the person in front of her just wouldn't exist... XD
The posture just works perfectly for her character... ^_^
Anyway, posted! :D
I hope you won't mind I gave her the friendly neighborhood abomination for a neighbor, I really wanted Tekeli-li to scare the piss out of one of the guards... :3
:: Tekeli-li ::

An atrocious semi-mechanical wail of pain echoed through the room as a guard mercilessly stomped on the hand of the caged blue skinned alien. Half organic, half artificial, it was a pitiful, dreadful sound, one which her tormentor evidently took great pleasure in hearing. What a fucking freak... he thought to himself disgustedly, with the same kind of morbid curiosity one might usually experience at a zoo. Can't even speak properly...

"I said, what do you say?" he repeated sadistically.

"Thankyou-thankyou sir. I am most grateful-ful." a robotic voice stuttered back miserably.

Damn right! he smirked to himself. He nudged the tray into the aberration's cage with a smug, satisfied expression on his face. He was careful not to make too much contact with it any longer than strictly necessary, almost as though he might get tainted by the creature's misery. Slimy bitch... Unbeknownst to him, in the reinforced glass tank bolted next to the cage, an inky black mass shifted. The guard quickly began walking away from the enclosure, not wanting to look at it any longer than he strictly had to.

*Thump!*

A dull thud echoed from the tank next to him, causing him to reflectively turn around with his hand reaching for his sidearm. What he saw made him shriek in panic like a little girl and stumble backwards, losing his footing and falling painfully on his posterior. A guttural, menacing growl emanated from the receptacle, somehow managing to sound both frighteningly alien yet terrifyingly human at the same time. He watched, eyes wide and silent, at the grey, agonizing visage of horror which had emerged from the black ooze, empty eyes staring directly into him. It looked like a grotesquely deformed, obscene caricature of a man's features, like a sick mask made by some demented killer with the face of his victim.

"Teeekeeeliiiii-liiiiii!" it hissed at him angrily.

"Gaah! Jesus H. Christ! Bloody fucking hell!" the guard cursed, crawling back in an unsuccessful attempt to regain his dignity. When he finally recovered his composure, he stood up and angrily punched at the glass, trying to bully the unholy terror into submission. It merely responded by causing the face to shrivel up and dissolve disgustingly into its body, before ineffectively squirting a spray of bloody fluids at the glass, completely obscuring his view. Deciding that discretion was the better part of valour, he quickly abandoned and left with his tail between his legs, cussing angrily to himself the whole way to cover it up. Back in its tank, Tekeli-li frustratedly re-absorbed the fluids it had ejected, glaring at him angrily with the many, many eyeballs covering its body.

Tekeli-li didn't like it when they made the blue woman scream. It didn't like it that they had put it into a glorified fish tank either. Tekeli-li wanted to taste things, but the guards weren't allowed to feed it, for fear it might absorb dangerous new genetic material. At first, one of them had tried to give it fish food as some sort of a joke, but one of his superiors stopped him before he could, and yelled at him very loudly. It turned to its blue skinned neighbor, reverting back to a harmless looking black ooze not to scare her. A thin tentacles with an eyeball at the tip sprouted from its top like a periscope, looking comically from side to side before vanishing back into its body. It extended a small pseudopod shortly after, waving happily at her in an attempt to cheer her up, but she didn't really seem to notice it. Just as she reached for her food, the lights suddenly turned off.

"Tekeli-li..." it pouted sadly at itself.
*Tekeli-li approves.*
