Think again.

don't post while high, kids
@Penny@POOHEAD189 then we're all good!

Also, I lied, @POOHEAD189 (oops)! Before we can start, y'all still gotta do crew stuff!

(p112-120 for reference)

You've already chosen the ship--the "Cerberus", though feel free to pick another name. It's starting stats (and therefore your crew's) are:

Your starting money is 2 CRED.

Next, you need to choose a reputation for your crew. You earn Crew XP for bolstering your reputation, so be thinking about the kind of game your interested in playing, but we can always change it later so don't feel like you'll be locked in.

I've listed the reputations below. We'll do this the same as choosing the ship--give me your preferences, starting with the one you prefer most and going down. You don't have to list them all if you don't want, but I do ask that you list at least three.

Best case scenario, everyone will pretty much agree what kind of reputation you're going for here, but if we're too far apart we can step back and talk about it.

  • Ambitious
  • Brutal
  • Daring
  • Honorable
  • Professional
  • Savvy
  • Strange
  • Subtle
I've been rotating the Eidolon: Become Your Best Self system in my head for several months before I finally got around to running a game of it, and I so want to run a Virtuoso character whose "Stand" is a real, physical motorcycle that they can use to perform inhuman stunts. Partially because I think it would be a fun and interesting character, partially because there are so many good songs about motorcycles to name the power after. (Black Sunshine? Kickstart My Heart? Passive Restraints? Nowhere Fast? I mean, c'mon, the possibilities are endless.)
Luka, the creature bows his head deeply to you as you hold out the Master Ball. "Well, sir, in that case I thank you, and I will certainly take you up on your offer." Jehoshaphat reaches out to the ball held in Luka's hand; no sooner does his claw contact it than a flash of light envelopes him and he vanishes.

Ashley, your future selves dig through the phone. Searching through its files, unfortunately, seems to be a bust; judging by the paucity of installed apps and the increased font size, Ray seems to be the kind of person who can just about send texts and answer calls on his smartphone, and not much more.

(You do find a single non-standard app installed; it's a pinball game that shows about two minutes of uninterruptible ads when launched. Judging by the high scores, he's not very good at it.)

The infinite Ashleys texting "Agent Bullshit" have more luck. Though you obviously can't follow all the conversations, you do get a couple pieces of information. First is her name--Field Agent Kofi Bull. Second is her position within the organization--she's a field agent, like Simonsen. In fact, she's his partner--and, in her opinion, his minder as well. You get few details, but you are left with the impression that where Ray's Eidolon is all about destruction, hers is more focused on detection--there are mentions of her trying to get a lock on the creature you encountered in the diner.

Another set of infinite Ashleys attempt to call Sevara. Almost all of these encounters go about the same; a quiet, smooth, feminine-sounding voice answers the phone and calmly asks why the hell Ray is calling her. If you remain silent, she repeats herself a couple of times and then hangs up; a text from Agent Bull follows shortly afterwards, asking again where Ray is and why he's prank calling their supervisor. If you talk, she also immediately hangs up, and an icon appears at the top of the phone's display indicating that its GPS has just been activated. It seems that she's no nonsense (and perhaps that she agrees with Agent Bull that Ray needs a minder).
@Penny Attributes max out at 3 (page 10) ^^'

@rush99999 Everything looks good, should be an interesting character--approved stat-wise, just wanna see that bio before full approval!

@POOHEAD189 so long as that point goes into either Helm or Skulk, yes

Sanro and Nero Marques

Fortress Ship Solaire - VR Training Complex

Nero's eyes went wide as the Lieutenant spoke; he had expected a more formal announcement for the start of the simulation. He sprung into action--at least, so much as that description applied to someone strapped into a shock frame. "Deploying drones!" Legionnaire's "wing" extended back and out, and the attached drones began glowing softly before separating from the rack. The eight needle-shaped attach drones lifted off in a line, making a track through the air that looked like an afterimage. The two shield drones--squat and bulky by comparison--separated from the backs of the machine's pauldrons, floating with their long axis perpendicular to the ground, the flaps of their projectors extending experimentally. From a rail inside the drone rack, four Augury recon drones were launched into the air and spread their "wings", then began floating lazily overhead, circling like birds.

"Setting combat drones to maniple formation. Augury drones going to maximum coverage." The attack drones separated into two units of four, each gathering behind one of the shield drones; the recon drones each flew out, one staying in orbit above Legionnaire while the other three went to the edge of their operational range and did their best to provide maximum coverage.

Sanro gripped the controls of the mech again, and smiled in satisfaction as he felt the machine react to his touch this time. "Sounds like we should get started, then. Legionnaire doesn't have the defenses to go toe to toe with that artillery for the ten minutes it'll take us to get up the direct path, so I'm going to head up the second route. ETA at target is..." He consulted the maps from Logic Diver. "Between ten and fifteen minutes. Tight, but do-able."

Nero keyed into the all-squad channel. "Our drones should be able to reach the other paths. Elora, Rose, I've got your data patched into our systems--thanks again." His display noted the shield drones were powered up; another command projected a hologram of where the protective field would pop up as they detected incoming threats. "Augury feeds look good--I'll be keeping an eye out."
W.O. "Mikey" Rangel

Refugee Camp, North of Manila - 12/3/2022, 10:53, UTC+8

"You're welcome!" Mikey gave the man what her mother would have called her thousand-watt smile as he took the bag of rice from her hands. As soon as he took it, she let out a puff of breath and wiped at her forehead with a hand, trying her best to dry her forehead. The temperature really wasn't that bad--it was in the low 80s--but she had yet to get used to the humidity. She had been raised in southern California, where they were lucky to get more than a foot of rain in a year; from what she had been told, Manila got more than that in a month during the summer. Ugh. Think I'd just melt.

She popped the lid on her canteen and sipped ice-cold water, closing her eyes to savor it. At least she wasn't on some godforsaken march to nowhere, sweating her ass off purely because the CO thought she was getting "soft". She had been skeptical when the call went out in TFO for people to help hand out food to the refugees. She didn't think she was too good for the work, but that was the kind of thing she had expected the task force's newly designated leader to think. Apparently she'd been wrong, and Mikey had jumped at the opportunity for a distraction. Training and prep for the coming mission could burn a lot of her spare time, but the downside of it was that by the nature of the activity, it didn't exactly help distract her from the fact that it would be all too soon before she was in her first shooting engagement.

Still, the scene here wasn't that much better. Utilitarian tents had been pitched in a line, serving long lines of displaced refugees with packaged water and staple foods; the refugees themselves all looked tired but determined as they waited for the chance to get their allotments. It reminded her of when she was very young, and her family had evacuated ahead of a wildfire that had thankfully ended up not reaching their house--except they and the other people in the shelter had been able to go back home the next day. These people weren't so lucky; some of them were less than a hundred miles from their homes, but they might as well have been across the ocean--at least until the so-called "Continuation Government" finally put down their guns.

Well, in any case, it felt good to be doing something to help--especially something that didn't involve fighting.

Mikey sighed, then turned to one of her fellow Arms Masters putting their own dent in the pallet of rice and offered them the canteen. "Hydrate or die-drate," she chirped, trying to sound flippant.

Sounds good

Nice. Writing something up now, want to clarify--how are you approaching the text convo w/ "Agent Bullshit"? Is Ashley just pretending to be Ray, or doing something else?
@XxFellsingxX's exactly right, I took a weekend trip with my partner lol

@Digmata I've spent some time thinking about it--especially since you've already used your Downtime move investigating the phone, I'm inclined to let that roll ride here instead of having you draw again. That also eliminates the awkwardness of you doing an Uptime move during downtime. You won't find out any deep dark secrets, but you'll get the general thrust of your questions answered. Sounds good?
