Christoph was not in a good mood. First he had lost one of his employees, then he had lost a perfectly good bottle of whiskey, and now there were two cars driving down the sidewalk at him, weaving in and out of each other. And why had the sidewalk taken a step down just now? That didn't make any-

oh.

Wash hit the breaks as a drunk man stumbled into the road. Both occupants were thrown forward and stopped dead in their tracks by their restraints as the car screeched to a hault in front of the walking road block. Alan was about to yell for the man to get out of the road when Wash got out of the car and approached the drunkard. That kid was too kind hearted for his own good. One day he would he would gladly sell his remaining humanity for a sliver of sanity as Alan had.

"Are you okay sir?" Wash asked putting his hands out ds out to try and keep Christoph upright.

Chris was having some trouble focusing on the people... person in front of him. Definitely only one person. He tried to move away but just wound up stumbling back to where he had started, and a small, logical part of his brain decided that alcohol would no longer be the answer to any problems.

"Get outa my way. I gotta kill a man." He mumbled, trying to reorient himself. He had been going somewhere specific, he thought, but for the life of him he couldn't remember where that was.

Wash wasn't taking no for an answer. "Sir you really need to sit down." He took a quick look a quick look around before realizing "Well, not here... Sir you need to get off the street and sober up." Alan wasn't really into the whole dealing with random strangers thing and he was on a pretty strict time limit to break into the CIA building so he doubly did not have time for the this. Glaring at Wash he got out of the car.

"There's no time for that!" He said, actually managing a normal speaking volume this time. "He's out there killing more people, and I have to stop him!" He punctuated that sentance by almost falling on his ass, and in a sudden moment of clarity realized that even if by some miracle he managed to find Jace, he still wouldn't be able to do anything in his state.

"What am I supposed to do then?" He asked nobody in particular.

Trying to genuinely help the man and seeing that his ealier attempts were not quite working wash tried to connect with the drunk chris he asked "could you at least tell me who you are looking for? Maybe we can help." Behind christoph Alan was staring at Wash.

"His name is... Jace. I think. He looks something like this." Chris scrunched up his face as he tried to remember how his powers worked, and after a few moments his features started to shift around, his skin became dark and his hair receded into his skull. Seconds later, instead of Christoph standing in the middle of the street with two strangers, it was Jace Williams, at least from the shoulders up.

Wash was dumbfounded. He has only just been introduced to the idea of super powered individuals earlier that day. Now he had met three of them and he had no idea how to react. As for Alan this became very interesting very fast. Maybe he was going to have to reavaluate Wash's kind soul. clearly it was making dividends in interesting contacts. "So you want this guy dead?" Alan asked. "I can arrange for that, but you'll need to help me out."

"Hep? Help with what?" Chris was eager to leap on any chance for his revenge, but some part of him still held a bit of caution. It wasn't that he didn't trust two strangers in the street, but he had to keep his options open.

"All you have to do is impersonate a government operative, take their shift at work and discreately let me and my team into the building. "Should be easy enough for you conisdering your... talents." If this guy agreed then it was going to be a massive boon to the heist. It would strain their time a lot more than he would otherwise think, but it wouold be worth it.

Chris thought about the offer. He had never commited a crime before, but he had also just been ready to kill a man. If this stranger could get him close enough to Jace that he could do that, then a little door opening would be such a small price to pay it wasn't even a quesiton.

"I'm in. I get you into this building, wherever it is, and you get me Jace? Deal."

"Deal" Alan quickly agreed. "Now get in the car. I need you to meet the crew." Alan's car could wait.
Alan and Julia

While Alan waited for Wash to come by and bring him back to his own car at the hospital Alan decided to call in some muscle in a more or less literal manner. He dialed in the number to the phone he had given to Julia earlier. "Hey. You want to lift the CIA's server?"

Julia was just staring at the clouds floating by when she heard the phone ring. She hadn't expected a call so soon but she was pleased to hear it. She pulled it out of her pocket and up to her, and was promptly completely shocked at the request. "Is that a joke?" she replied.

Alan smiled. Apparently this woman still had some normalcy still in her. He wondered how long that would last. "I told you two important things." Alan held up his hand with two fingers even though there was no way Julia could see them. "One, that it would be worth your while and two, that it would be dangerous. However, yes, I do need you to literally carry a server for me."

Julia sat in silence for a moment as she considered the proposition, on the one hand it would be exciting, on the other she could go to prison for life, and that meant no more trees, no more anything she loved. If she declined though she knew she'd always wonder what might have been. There was just some things she needed to be sure of first. "No one is gonna get hurt right?" Her voice wavered slightly with the question.

"We cannot afford to alert anyone so no. and if shit goes really bad I don't plan on doing anything more than knocking people out." In truth Alan would have been okay with killing everyone in the whole building if necessary, but he'd make an exception if it got him the help he needed. "Any more questions?"

Julia smiled at the reply, it was the best she expected she could get in this situation. But she felt she still had room to negotiate, after all she wasn't going to be paid for this, and she had a curiosity she wanted to clear up. And if she was a betting woman she'd wager he was just the man to do that clearing up for her. "Nah, no more questions, I'll do it on one condition, after we're done I need you to do me a teensy weensy itty bitty small favor, I can promise it won't put you in any danger, or cost you any money, and will only take minutes of your time. If you're the kind of man I think you are you won't even break a sweat. You just have to agree to it ahead of time so I know you won't back out."

Was it not normal for people to just want to get paid for their work anymore? "You know I can just pay you right?" Alan sighed. Julia hadn't proven herself to be an ordinary woman up to this point. "Whatever, what do you want?"

Julia stifled a chuckle. "What use do I have for money? I have everything I need right here!" She gestured to the meadow surrounding her knowing he had no idea what she was talking about. She really didn't want to actually tell him her request. It sounded crazy to her even now without saying it aloud, she wanted to get him to agree to it ahead of time in case he was more morally upstanding than she had thought. "Do you really need to know? I'll say that the only person who could passibly stand to lose anything from it is me." She stopped for a brief moment and decided to ease her request a bit. "Look, just tell me that when we're done you'll listen to my request after, alright? I don't need a promise, I can probably go pay some kid to do it if you won't, I'm just guessing you're ever so slightly more trustworthy and capable."

God damn it. This girl was lucky Alan was on a strict time limit or there was no way he was going to agree to this. "Sure" Alan reluctantly agreed as Wash drove up in a short red car. The thief threw open the door slightly frustrated. Wash opened his mought to speak, but alan just put a finger against the younger man's lips hoping he'd understand this was important. "I agree to take your request when we're done."

Julia sprang off the ground with one superpowered push and landed on her feet, audibly kissing the phone as she did. "You're the best! So, where and when are we doing this?" She asked as she started to jog back towards her Jeep.

"I'm going to to text you the location of a staging area. Be there as soon as you can."
Yesterday

Today Alan decided to be much less casual and wore a decent brown suit. Checking himself in a mirror in his bathroom he made sure that everything still fit correctly. He hadn't worn it in quite a while, but then again it had been a while since he had been out of laundry. Deciding everything was nice he jogged down the stairs to the office and called Luke.

Luke was by himself getting high as usual, he liked to stay high. He had three percocet pills in his hand which he downed with some soda a little earlier, and was starting to relax. His powers, and his vices were all he needed. Luke decided to wear some business casual attire if he was gonna be committing heists he didn't want to look the part. He was out in a field he'd found and was practicing lifting various things with his mind from heavy rocks to a struggling to lift a torn down tree just as his phone buzzed he released his mental grip of the tree and answered." Wassup Alan."

Alan wasn't terribly thrilled about Luke's manner of speaking. Perhaps the cultural difference was going to be a harder hurdle to jump than he thought. regardless it wouldn't do him anything he wanted if he dwelled on silly things like this. "We're going to go car shopping" he told his young recruit. So grab anything you need that won't get you busted in some random traffic stop and meet me at the library. I've got a particular vehicle in mind."

Truth be told Luke was done with his mental weightlifting, tv always made TK look so effortless. But it was like a mental muscle, he had to keep practicing and exercising and that wasn't exactly easy. "Shopping huh" Luke said the last part sarcastically, it reminded him of some of the people he knew that where into car theft and the funny ways they liked to label their activity. "Alright I catch your drift I won't have any bud on me, trust me I know all about not breaking two laws at the same time..it's my major." Luke left the forest and headed to his car, starting it up then driving to the library.

Alan was on the steps of the Library waiting. When Luke drove up Alan walked up to the driver's side and got luke's attention. "We're going to leave your car here" he stated matter of factly. "Ordinarily I'd take a van out of the junkyard or something and paint it up how I wanted, but that well dried up a long time ago." He paused remembering some older and slightly easier times. It didn't take too long for the cops to get the idea that they needed to monitor the junkyards for suitable getaway vans back in Alan's twenties. "But yeah if you'll come with me I'll show you what we've got." Alan straightened up and started slowly down the street.

Luke just nodded in agreement, he figured it was best to leave his car anyway. He could use his mind powers and just get a car, really just steal a car but he wanted to see Alan in action and he didn't want him to know about his mind control powers. Luke parked his car and made his way out to follow Alan. "Shit..if only it was that easy huh, shit would be smooth, so what exactly we looking it man?" Luke asked wondering what type of vehicle Alan intended to snatch.

"A van for starters" Alan vaguely explained trying to keep his voice low, but without whispering. He didn't say anything for a moment before they got to the end of the street. "And that van in particular." Alen pointed across the road to a green pest control van that read in big yellow letters arrayed around the image of a boot stomping on a mosquito 'Marty's Crushers.' "Still keeping his voice at a low conversational level Alan continued "I may admit I sorta lied when I said that I we were getting just a getaway vehicle. You see we're also stealing our way in and our disguises." He turned to smile at the younger man. "How good do you think you are at knocking people out cold?"

"A Van, hmmm I feel a kidnapping vibe more so then a heist vibe but it's all cool with me." Luke didn't care what vehicle they had as long as they could avoid getting caught up. Seeing it was a green pest van made him think back to his days of watching breaking Bad in the episode where Walter and Jesse used a pest van for a scheme although it was for drugs not robbery. "Eh… I didn't figure you were being 100..percent anyway..okay..well I can move things with my mind hmm...but I don't have X Ray vision. Are there people currently in the van, how many, I can use my powers to knock them out from a distance by bashing them against something perhaps..perhaps I can even get the wheels to move pull the van into a discreet location, then we snatch the people out, and the vans ours problem is only a matter of them before they wake up and report the shit stolen right?"

"Madison is going to take care of the police reports when they get around to calling this in" Alan explained. "She's amazing that way. That said I' a little more prepared for the here and now than you think. See this is Tyler- He's the guy who showed you to my office the other day. This is tyler's grandmother's house. We called these guys up and right now they should just be setting up in there. We had the place sound proofed ages ago so when we're in there we just knock them out and take their stuff. Simple as that." Alan handed Luke a clown mask. "Put that on right before we go in."

"Madison.." Luke didn't know who that was but figured it may have been the hacker or whoever. "Never said you were dumb you don't look like the kind of guy to just do something on impulse and I appreciate that I don't like working with people who think otherwise." Luke looked at the mask and sighed. He reluctantly put it on, drug dealing was cool but he wanted big money, he wanted to drift away from selling drugs completely."Never thought I'd dress up as the Joker, alright let's go, I'll follow your lead."

Alan lead Luke up to the door where he put his hand on the door and paused a moment. For one he needed to put his own mask on, but first he wanted to feel out the exterminators through their electrical impulses. Feeling around for a bit and judging the distances with what he knew of the house already he found all of them. "There's two of them in the kitchen on the far side of the first floor" Alan said coldly without looking back at Luke. "I can take care of them." Now he turned back to his young protege. "You will take care of the third one. He's up the stair in the bedroom. The stairs are right behind this door and the bedroom is the first door to the left on the far wall when you come up." With that Alan threw on his mask, quietly opened the door and began creeping through the house.

Luke nodded taking note of the information Alan had given him. He almost paused to think that this was too easy a task even without powers, then again it was never good to get too cocky at any time. Luke followed the directions Alan gave him, and crept up to the door listening in he pushed the door open and used his powers to zip the man's mouth shut then lifted him in the air and focused on a new skill he'd been practicing. A Blast of telekinetic force slammed into the man smacking him into the ceiling, but instead of allowing him to the floor with a thud he lowered the unconscious man down slipped off his uniform with his mind then set him on the bed. "Perfect" Luke said quietly then slid out of the bedroom.

Down the stairs Alan was coming back from further in the house with two green exterminator's outfits over his left shoulder. He had shocked his two as he entered the dining room fairly trivially. He threw a key up to luke. "Get in the van and I'll tell you where we're going.

Earlier Today

Alan was not particularly happy about this little... interruption, but he didn't let it show and just patiently waited for Wash to do his thing. "I was just walking around with my friend" Wash answered while waving his hand at Alan. Don't drag me into this kid. this is your problem. Wash stuck his hand out offering to shake. "My name's Kurt. What about you?"

Julia beamed at Kurt between her natural love of people and the trip she was currently on she was more than a bit over excited to meet Kurt. The first person I've met since coming to Atlanta! She thought as she reached out to shake his hand, forgetting to temper her strength on the shake, she squeezed a fair bit harder than any woman of her size should have been able to, even a firefighter. Her mouth went slightly agape as she realized and loosened her grip. "I'm sorry!" She blurted out unthinkingly hoping she hadn't hurt him.

Kurt's face contorted in pain and he loosened his own grip as Julia pressured his hand. Kurt had learned pretty on in his dealings with Alan the importance of a strong handshake and good eye contact for making a good first impression, but this girl seemed disproportionately strong. So much that he couldn't maintain either until she relented and apologized. Still he tried to take her apology in stride. "Oh its fine, my hand will be okay." he reaffirmed his grip, but looked around the shitty neighborhood. "I was going to tell you that this was a pretty dangerous place" he said scratching the back of his head with his other, less hurt hand. "Especially recently, but I'm much less sure that you're in danger right now."

Julia let out a stifled laugh at his comment as she returned her hand to her side. "Oh, I can usually handle myself pretty well, especially lately, but I really do appreciate the concern." she paused for a moment to collect herself it took quite a bit of focus to keep her eyes on him and not wandering off to the weird hallucinatory goings on that inhabited her peripheral vision. "The name is Julia by the way, and I doubt I could be of much use to ya, but one good turn deserves another!" She nodded towards him before continuing. "I'm not from around here, I don't know the area, I don't have much money, and I don't expect I'll be here long, but I reckon I oughtta offer should ya need any help while I'm in this neck of the woods."

Alan hadn't taken much notice of Julia's powerful handshake until she said, until recently, which really caught his attention. He hit a button on his phone still in his pocket and up on the roof across the street Tyler received a red warning. Be highly alert. He couldn't get out more than the generic message before he stepped into Kurt and Julia's conversation. "Hey, Kurt" he said with some disdain in his voice when he said Kurt. It probably wasn't a problem to break cod names at this very moment, but they were technically on the job. "Could you you run ahead and get Madison's gift for me?" Kurt turned to look at his boss at first a little dumbfounded. Alan leaned in. "I would like to speak to the young lady." Suddenly Kurt understood and rushed off into the apartment to meet Madison. "So miss" Alan began while stepping into Kurt's spot. "Define why it was exactly that you can take care of yourself recently. Answer honestly and I can make it worth your while."

Julia let out a hearty laugh at Alan's query. "Well aren't you Mister dark & foreboding!" Julia wasn't typically a woman of inhibitions, but even still she knew she wouldn't have made such a comment sober. "But you don't need to twist my arm. Not that you could." She tried to wipe the smile from her face, but just couldn't manage it, she was too damn happy. "Now, I'm not really sure about any exact date or anything." She walked to the nearest parked car as she spoke. "But I know that a month ago..." She crouched down beside the car and looked under it for a moment to make sure she grabbed ahold of the frame so as to not damage anything. "I couldn't do this." She rose once more, lifting the passenger side of the car with one arm as she did so, holding it for a few seconds before gently lowering it back down to the ground. "Now, I gotta wonder..." She spoke with a newly present confidence in her voice. "Why are you so curious?"

Alan furrowed his brow again. Super powered people sure were casual about being, well, more than human. Alan had adapted well enough to it sure, but he was quite a different cut from most of society and here this seemingly normal if intoxicated woman had also become quite used to her own powers and wasn't freaking out in a ditch somewhere. Maybe three weeks give or take was more than enough time to get over the shock and get on with life. Super strength would be useful. Also highly dangerous. Alan would need to avoid getting hit if they came to blows. At least long enough to shock her or for Tyler to shoot her. If either of those things would even do anything to this particular super. It was best not to get on her bad side in particular for now. Besides, she may become useful. "I'm curious because I also have an ability, but let's take this inside. It'll be best not to attract too much attention."

Julia found herself curious and more than a little bit excited by Mister dark and foreboding's words. She did wonder if there were others like her out there and had admittedly never really thought to hide her power, though she also hadn't had much cause to use it either. Apart from a wrecked sleep schedule, and significantly extended hiking excursions her life hadn't changed since she discovered it. She could understand though why others would want to keep it secret, especially if they were more exotic abilities than her own. Still a sliver of doubt crept into her mind at his request, but she shook it off immediately. Remembering that she was taught from a young age to embrace every opportunity no matter how strange it might be and to certainly not distrust someone without cause. Accordingly she stepped behind him ready to follow. "Alrighty then! Lead the way!"

Alan lead the super up to the third floor where Madison could be heard chewing out Kurt for something. Alan wasn't really listening. When they got to her apartment at the end of the hall he fished out a key and through open the door to see the dwarfed Madison staring down a clearly intimidated Kurt. Around them was a fairly clean apartment, especially compared to the surroundings, but in particular there was a bunch of glass shards on the floor of the kitchen left of the door. "I'm sorry pf I'm interrupting anything in here, but I need you two to calm down so I can blow your worlds open a bit"

Julia glanced around the apartment wondering what she had gotten herself into. Noting Kurt and some lady she had yet to be introduced to seemed to be at odds with one another. If she wasn't so damn curious about what seeing what this guy could do she would have been long gone. But now she was committed for better or worse, so she just smiled and waved at Kurt and the new woman.

Kurt and Madison sighed. One in relief and the other in exasperation. "What is it boss?

"I was planning on telling everyone a bit later when everyone was at the meeting, but some really strange things have been going on that have drawn me back into this life." He put his hands a distance apart as he had with Luke the other day and sent electricity across the gap between his fingers. "In particular my newfound powers." Yes this does mean that all the stories you have been hearing about super powered people is true and for the record. This lovely lady is another such super."

Julia stared in awe at the electricity arcing between the man's hands, it was probably in reality just normal electricity, but to her intoxicated mind it looked extremely pretty as it shifted colors from blue to red, to yellow and every color in between. She was so engrossed in the sight that she only picked up a vague interpretation of his words as he spoke. Only snapping back into reality as he referenced her as a fellow 'super'. She didn't like the term, but she wasn't going to contest it, instead she just spoke towards the new woman and Kurt. "Hi, I'm Julia, and I do other much less cool things!" She gestured towards the other 'super' as the reality of the situation finally set in, if he could control electricity, and she was super strong, it stood to reason that there could be any number of others out there with innumerable possible abilities.

“Alright…” Madison breathed. “That’s a lot to take in for such a little display. We’re going to have to go into detail about just what you can do later. Gonna be a whole category to file. People and their powers…” She stared off into the distance for a moment before collecting herself. Kurt for his part kept his mouth shut. “So sir” Madison continued. I get why you’d need to tell me about your new abilities, but why did you bring this woman along?”

“Well” alan started. “I was hoping that I could introduce her to some face and ask if she was interested in making a little extra money while she was in town.” He then looked at Julia as if that had actually been a question directed at her.

Julia crossed her arms and looked at the electric man who she had come to realize was something of a boss to the others. "Hun, money doesn't mean much to me, I already have all I need. That said, if you need a refrigerator moved or semi push started." She paused for a moment wondering if semis could actually be push started, she was in a unique position to find out, she made mental note try it some day. "I'll gladly do it for five bucks. I get the feeling you have something more exciting in mind though don't you? In which case let's hear it, if it sounds interesting I'll do it, but uh... This is my time off from work, so I'd prefer to not make it a job. Okay?" She pulled the paper container out of her jean pocket and ripped a paper filter from it before placing it back in her pocket.

Alan handed her a cheap phone from a pile on one of Madison’s desks. “If you’re interested. Before you leave town I may call you on this if i need someone of your talents.” He leaned in close to her. “I assure you though that it will be dangerous.” Alan allowed his voice to become much more grave. “Illegal dangerous. Are you up for that?”

Julia sighed deeply, miming the word 'dangerous' along with mocking hand gestures after she grabbed the phone. She had already quite an overconfidence when it came to 'danger' due to her job, and her newfound powers did nothing to help her take the word any more seriously. ”Ya already know I’ll answer that call, and as long as it sounds like a worthwhile experience I’ll be there. Just know this...” She paused for a moment purely in an effort to build dramatic effect. ”I won’t hurt anybody for you, or anyone for that matter. That’s about all there is to it.” Julia winked at him and smiled, realizing she didn’t wink enough in day to day life, it was fun. She then promptly turned away and exited the apartment, the trip hadn’t gotten her a new supply, but perhaps she’d found something much better… Hopefully.
Things were going well. Everyone of Alan's crew was going to be meeting up later that day where Alan would show them his powers under the pretense of explaining why he was coming back, which wasn't entirely untrue, and then get everyone up to speed on the new heist. For now though he was walking up to Madison's shitty apartment in a shitty part of town. She seemed to like it well enough and truth be told Alan didn't care enough to pester her about it, though many of his crew often told she needed to get out of such a shitty part of town. Even if the crime going on around here was mostly bellow them it was still dangerous. Alan though was okay with just using her for her talents and not going any farther. Which is why he was here. He was going to try and get a copy of any files on promising young criminals so he knew what to look out for if ever he needed a replacement or specialized recruit. Didn't hurt to be prepared.

@cunfuzzler

With him was Wash, who had been an up and coming crew member when Alan was stepping out of the business last and Tyler, who was taking up a position across the street in case things went bad, lot's of things had been going bad lately now that Alan was paying attention. On the way they passed by a woman who looked really out of place in this area and Wash, to Alan's displeasure, stopped her concerned. "Ma'am, are you okay? You look lost."
This guy really did seem young. Not as young as Alan was when he started though so complaining would be pretty hypocritical. "I suppose for starters you can call me Carter. I'm looking for a very experienced driver to hire for the next few weeks who knows the area and is willing to drive me around to several... meetings. For more information" he said as he began motioning to Madison to pay attention "I will have an aid email you an address." Catching the hint the short hacker got on the menial task of emailing the location of Raven's Haul, a small bookstore on the edge of town to Luke. "Consider that the location of an interview. Be there in" Alan stopped to consider how long it might take him to prepare for this new meeting "two hours."

"Carter" Luke almost chuckled but didn't, the name reminded him of one of his favorite rappers, Lil Wayne, although he wondered if this guy even knew who that was. "An experienced driver, I'm hoping or rather expecting the pay will be something I'm interested in." Luke stopped not wanting to say too much just in case this was some sort of sting operation. Even with powers he strongly doubted he could take on FBI alone, he still had to be smart. "Two hours I can do that?" Luke said looking down at his watch. "It's a date." He said smugly as he hung up the phone. He didn't quite know what to expect, but he did want other opportunities than just being a drug dealer. It was good money, but he wanted great money. He wanted a mansion with marble floors, and golden statues built in his image in his front lawn. That's not the type of money he'd make selling weed and xanax to frat guys.

He hung up the phone and examined the email. He's got my location. Either he's been watching me or he's got a damn good hacker, I wish I knew more about that shit myself. Luke was a bit unnerved but even if it was the cops only thing incriminating in here was his scale, and weed; still those two things together were a felony. He decided to grab his scale, and leave tossing it in the trash as he left the apartment. Call it paranoia but it had kept him out of trouble before. He decided to go work on his paper in the library, and a grab a bite to eat. After about an hour and thirty minutes passed he went to his car and made his way over to the book store. He looked at his watch as he was pulling in the parking lot listening in for thoughts of people walking around to see if he heard anything about undercover cops or a set up. Hearing neither did little to ease his suspicion as he waltzed into the bookstore and took a seat. And now I wait..

While Luke waited Alan watched him on one of a number of small monitors stacked on his desk. He glanced over the short sheet of info that had been scouted on Mr. Braxton, probably weeks ago. Its a good thing Madison was keeping up on the record keeping and scouting for new talent. He walked over to the closet across the room and opened the door. Inside was Garfield, bound and gagged in a fetal position starring in wide eyed horror at Alan. "I can't have you making any noise while I do some business." He reached out a finger to the man's head and jolted him into unconsciousness. Back at his desk moments later he pressed a button on his phone. "Hey Tyler can you go let in our guest. Yes the black one in the back. His name is Luke, but refer to him as Ford. Yes its because he's the driver. We had a different Ford When we picked up Garfield, that's why he got a random one." He returned his gaze to the monitors as the tall, lanky Tyler walked slowly over to Luke with his Coat dragging slightly against the ground.

"The manager will see you now" Tyler said hitching a thumb to a door on behind the register.

Luke was defiantly paranoid but he couldn't hear thoughts of anyone who screamed law enforcement to him. Plus he doubted the police knew about his powers, then again there's no telling what the Government knew. Can't start thinking that way, I'm fucking special, no feds know about the shit I can do.

No no! I gotta get out of here fuck!!! Luke turned his head to the side as he heard thoughts of panic coming from someone then they stopped. He raised his eye. Did someone just die in here or did they go to sleep? He had no way of telling. He was sure he couldn't read a dead man's mind because...obviously, but he'd been unable to get thoughts from people sleeping. "The Manager" Luke was confused maybe the bookstore was a front, he wanted a front himself but he didn't have a need with his level of product he was moving. He peered into this man's briefly to get some surface thoughts. These people worked on some type of team, heists they were about big money but he still wondered what driving had to do with that. He wished he could read more and more into people, he wondered how far he could take this power as he stepped into the office to see the man he presumed called him. "Hmm..so you're the manager, I'm Luke but I'm sure you already know that. So what's this opportunity you wanted to talk about, I'm all ears." Luke sat down and smiled attempting to read the man's mind which caused him to intentionally frown all he heard was static. What the fuck...

Oblivious to Luke's attempt to read his mind Alan returned the smile from his office chair. "Mr. Braxton, its nice to see you. I'm going to be very frank with you." He stepped out of his chair and made the short walk back over to his closet. "I need a driver for an important upcoming heist. I hear through the grapevine that you are both a good driver and on the wrong side of the law. So since my last getaway driver" Alan paused while opening the door revealing a very unconscious Garfield "is indisposed right now. I decided to reach out to some new blood."

Luke was definitely weirded out by the fact that his mind was unreadable. while the power was a burden at first, now he'd come to rely on it to get into people's heads. "Please Calm me Luke." He spoke calmly while in his head he was obsessed with why he couldn't get into this mans head who was he? He watched with complete focus as Alan got up and showed Garfield tied up. This must of been the man's thoughts he heard, he didn't look dead so maybe he stopped picking up his thoughts because Alan had shut him up. He thought back to the thoughts he picked up from Tyler about them being some sort of group experienced in robbery.

"So I guess my reputation proceeds me." Well he didn't want this information in the hands of the police, among other criminals he relished with joy when others knew about him. "I gotta admit I ain't done no professional driving in a while, I mean besides my day job. If you know me you know right now I'm in the drug market... a-lot less mobility required but more potential to get jammed up with the cops. But listen man..."Luke was feeling very impulsive, and was about to make a risky choice. If everything goes wrong I'll just have to kill him..but I can't just not bring this up, it doesn't sit right with me. "First off... forget the heist for a moment tell me... what do you think about this." Luke held out his hand and suddenly the unconscious traitor Garfield floated from his position over to in-front of Luke, followed by causing the door Alan opened to close. While using his power he looked the man in his eyes to gauge his reaction to what happened feeling very tense and uncertain about his choice.

Alan's forehead furrowed. Interesting. Another person with... powers. It was probably going to be easier to think about this in comic book terms. Not that he was terribly versed in comics, but he too had been a child once. Telekinesis was certainly an interesting power nonetheless. Probably something to monitor the danger of frequently for the foreseeable future. Still Luke didn't seem to be demonstrating his powers as a threat or show of force so for now Alan relaxed. "That's an interesting ability you've got there. I can assure you, that you are not the only person to have some sort of super power. I haven't gotten around to telling my people about my own yet, but then I was hoping to make an announcement when they were all assembled. Still though, you just made yourself more valuable Ford." Alan stopped for a moment forgetting that he had not actually informed Luke of his assigned handle. "For the record from here on out you will be referred to as Ford as a code name. Anyway if you're in with being my getaway driver I can we can get this moving."

Luke was taken aback by the man's expression. He seemed interested, but not scared. If someone just saw super powers for the first time they would be scared shitless, or amazed, but not just perplexed. Luke figured he must have some of his own. "An interesting ability" Luke let his voice trail off he didn't want to interrupt he wanted to hear what "The Manager" had to say about this whole situation. "Ford... huh... I'm guessing it's because of the car, I'm happy to work with you, but what do you mean abilities? You're too fucking calm man... until two weeks ago I thought this shit wasn't possible outside of an X-Men movie, you claim you got a power then what is it man... I ain't saying you're a liar... but we're talking about super powers, not the ability to whistle or something it's not common." Luke spoke with curiosity he wanted to man to know he didn't seek to threaten him, if anything this partnership seemed even more lucrative if they supposedly both had powers. He decided to leave out the reason he revealed his own power was because he couldn't read his mind. Still he wanted to see what this man could do; if he really had a power he'd be far more comfortable otherwise he was convinced the Government knew about him, and were on to him... but if this man had a power how many more people had abilities, and what where they?

What was this some sort of dick measuring contest? Alan had intended to do this later in front of everyone, but if this kid was so special as to have his own powers it probably wouldn't hurt to give him a showing in advance. Alan sighed before raising his hands with his fingers grasping an imaginary ball about the width of his chest and started to concentrate. A current began flowing through his body to his finger tips and then arced from one side to another for a few moments before Alan killed the flow and moved his hands back down to his sides. "So there's that" Alan stated "and much more besides." The older thief went back to his chair and took a seat. "So, are you in or not?"

Luke wondered what exactly he'd be shown by this man. His mind raced with possibilities, he was paranoid, on edge, but also excited like he was when a new episode of his favorite cartoon was shown on Saturday mornings growing up. He tensed up as Alan raised his fingers after all even though they were striking up a partnership there was no telling what this guy was capable of especially since Luke couldn't read his mind. His eyes widened in amazement as he watched the electricity flow from his fingers." Holy shit...." This dude is like Electro in real life, oh shit! "Man I'm fucking in." Luke was always down to make alliance's that served him and another super powered person who also was in the business of making money was A okay. He wanted to bombard him with other questions but he decided they'd hold off for now he was just glad he was like him and not a government spy." Yeah... I'm in, definitely."

"Alrighty then!" Alan exclaimed clasping his hands together with a loud clap. "I suggest you go get some rest. Tomorrow we're stealing a getaway car." And maybe testing out just what exactly you can do. It would be interesting regardless.
As a side note I haven't fully thought through what exactly Alan and company will be stealing or otherwise what sort of crime they will commit, so if you have any ideas, particularly if it will involve more characters I am all ears. It may take a while for Alan to be ready to do the job though.
@chukklehed

They're going to steal some other vehicle for a getaway car. this is just possibly payment. Besides it doesn't have enough space.
A man in black plastic pants and a red t-shirt stepped out the back of a plain grey van. It was overcast, maybe one of those seemingly apocalyptic storms was brewing. Maybe. For his part Alan barely paid them any mind because around the same time that the weather had gone to hell he had an incident with his microwave. Now it would not have been the first time the career criminal had broken one of his own appliances when it didn't work properly, but it was the first time that when he raised his fist to smash it a bolt of lightning arced from his hand to fry the device.

It was invigorating. Alan hadn't felt alive like during that moment in years and he knew from that moment he was going to have to get back into the game and use this power for something huge. Something worthy of his talents. Since then he'd spent the last two weeks and some change trying to get a handle on just what he could do with his powers and getting the gang back together. Which is why he was now a few blocks away from some forgotten warehouse. The last man he got in touch with, a getaway driver by the handle of "Garfield" had called him out here to discuss something in private. It seemed fishy, but probably nothing he couldn't handle.

Alan walked up to the driver's window and knocked on it to get her attention. She was a short woman who went by Madison. She normally handled hacking and other computer based functions, but Alan was short on available manpower right now with everyone taking care of personal things before they were ready to come to him. Across from her was Tyler, an expert gunman and occasional sniper. He was mostly around in case things went wrong which was often enough to keep him on the payroll. Madison rolled down the window and Alan directed her to drive around the warehouse until she was needed.

A few blocks of walking later Alan came upon the open door of the warehouse.Inside in the center was an expensive looking, orange sports car. all around the place though there were old moldy crates and rusting racks with various things decrepit things along them that Alan payed no mind to. Next to the car was Garfield in a fine black business suit. It was a trap. Alan's new powers were pretty cool like being able to detect the electrical signals running through the two guys Garfield had as backup behind some of the crates. Of course he had guessed from the moment this meeting was set up that it was going to go badly and under normal circumstances he would have scouted it out first and then probably come in guns blazing from as many angles as possible. This time however, Alan just wanted to test out his new powers.

"You're a little dressed up for this don't you think?" Alan called stepping through the huge doorway. "I thought this was supposed to be a casual meeting between friends."

Garfield spat on the ground. "It is. What do you think about my new car?" Garfield said motioning to the orange vehicle.

Alan stepped forward into the room and pointed a hand out to the stack of wooden crates Garfield's backup was hiding behind. Without warning a bolt of electricity shot from his fingers and burned a hole through the wood. The anguished screams of two unfortunate signified an end to that particular threat. "Now Garfield, I'm sure later that I'm going to have plenty of time to look at your care after I'm done mounting your head to it, but why exactly are you trying to kill me?"

Garfield had a look of shock on his face with eyes glued to Alan's hand. it took Alan walking up no more than a few meters away for the driver to suddenly collect himself and reach for something in the breast of his suit. Wrong answer Alan thought as a second bolt left him, this time at Garfield. It wasn't meant to kill. It was meant to stun. Alan intended to have some... fun with this traitor later. Preferably after he had tortured a motive out of him.

----

Some time later with Garfield tied up in the trunk of his own car and Alan lazily waiting on the hood the grey Van Drove in and with the vehicle still running Madison came out. Tyler stayed in the car with a vigilant eyes scanning everything. "So, I take it that the meeting went" Maddison paused to look around only counting the burning crates as damage "well. did you convince Garfield to be our getaway driver?"

"Not at all" Alan replied. I'm going to need you to give me that backup one you were talking about.

"He's not" Madison stopped herself. "Sir we don't know what he'll be like on a job. He's untested. Are you sure you want that?"

"We're always going to need new blood Madison" Alan sighed. "Now give me his number or whatever." Maddison fished out a cheap looking phone that was probably just a burner and dialed a number before handing the device over to Alan. "What's his name?" Alan asked belatedly.

"Luke Braxton" She answered.

@ParagonX

Eventually Alan got a response on the phone. "Hello Mr. Braxton. I've got an interesting business proposal for you. And potentially a new car with your name on it.
@ParagonX

Luke may be getting a call to be a getaway driver.

Name: Alan "Carter" Smith

Age: 34

Gender: Male

Religion: Non-practicing Catholic

Sexuality: Straight

Occupation: Officially he owns a small bookstore on the edge of the city.

Abilities:

- Leader and Strategist: Has been planning and leading heists and sometimes other criminal escapades on and off again since his early twenties.

- Agile: What got him noticed for grooming into his life of crime and constantly useful in his operations

- Brawler and Gunman: No professional training in either, but he has been enough fistfights and used guns enough times throughout his life that he's picked up on some of the finer details of each. That said he'd still call in a professional if he really need either on a job.

- Well Connected: He may only be coming back to his criminal roots recently after getting his powers, but he knows a lot of people to call on if he needs particular skill sets and most of them know and respect his abilities.

Faults: Alan doesn't trust anyone emotionally out of fear of abandonment and more than that he doesn't trust himself. He is always doubting his own thoughts and feelings, striving to push himself and and prove that he can do the things he thinks that he can do if only for the momentary validation of himself and his abilities.

Power: Electricity manipulation

Personality: You wouldn't be able to tell how cold, distant and hateful of the greater world Alan was by the way he runs his jobs. He get's to know all of his men, encourages them and shares dark humor with them. Still he never let's any of them get too close.

History: Born of middle class parents Alan didn't have much time to enjoy a normal life before his parents both died at the hands of a cop during a traffic stop. After that he and his two younger siblings spent most of their childhoods in an orphanage without really knowing what exactly happened to their parents and without much hope for the future. It was particularly bad for Alan who hated the way the orphanage was run and could only barely coexist with the staff. Regardless he stowed it away for the sake of his brother and sister. When he was a teenager he fell in with a bad crowd and had his first run in with the police. Alan outran them and eluded them all night until he met the man who would become his master, an aging man called Reagan, who just so happened to be a master thief. He taught Alan everything he knew and before Alan was in college he was already participating in some fairly big heists. The money was, as Alan told himself, for his brother and sister to help them get on in life, but when they found out what Alan had done to get it, they dissociated with him only keeping his secret out of respect for their familial connection. So he threw himself at his work. Alan became notable enough to run his own crew and make his own jobs. One day though he stumbled upon the most beautiful woman he had ever seen by the name of Elizabeth. She came of old money and her father was determined to involve her heavily with his business partners and eventually marry her off like some medieval lord. They met in secret for a few years before Her father found out and and forbid there meeting ever again. Eli complied and turned Alan away again and again. Abandoned by everyone in his life Alan removed himself from the world for a while before coming back to the criminal scene with a vengeance. He went after big heist after big heist before once again leaving the scene, telling his associates only that there wasn't anything else left worthy of his talents.
