In some ways, the guildfall was a blessing. It makes it harder for my original 2009 RPing to be found...

I've finally returned to the Guild. Many months of much RPing ahead.

A thousand things to be done; plenty motivation.

Been here on the guild since April '08, seen a lot of change but still love it. I've been on and off, I've GM'd fantastic projects and train-wrecks, it all comes with the territory. I once tried to make a YouTube ad for the guild because I'm slightly insane. In a weird place with the Guild right now, seems like so many names I knew are gone, but more than happy and ready to meet new people. Been writing casually for over a decade, a lot of that practice has been here. I have some small short sci-fi stories printed in anthologies but those are so heavily edited they don't even feel like mine any more.

When not on the Guild I'm most likely working, playing FFXIV or the Souls series or (insert recent must play video game).
Anyone with a passing interest in sci fi needs to read Saga by Brian K Vaughan.

Pretty much already worked out a nation I think
we can work something out where the GM can help move things along if you dont have time to post one week.

In other words, each day over deadline you don't post, the chances of your nation getting the bubonic plague increases by 13.25%
@Darkmatter

No I would start the IC once we get three or four solid NSes. I have a story-arch in mind that I can deploy if that would be useful to prodding the IC along, but otherwise I'm content to let players devise their own paths.

The benefit of this setting is that people can join and we can explain their absence from the story so far as "there's a huge amount of desert between us, so you havent been part of the story yet". I do want to emphasize collaborative world building and having the NSes feel as though they belong in a shared world, however, as well as working together to design the geography and history, etc etc. But hopefully not to the detriment of the IC, which I will be emphasizing more than I have in the past.

Again, I'm not criticising you, more leaning on my own bad experiences.
Anyways, I am in, just let me know if there's anything you need.
Responding to the request, I'll say that I am in. However, I need to know right now, that even if there's an emphasis on world-building that there will also be a greater one on actual role-playing. I want to join this for interaction, I don't want to spend 2-3 weeks with five people carefully crafting an intricate backstory, only to have it all fall apart and an IC never truly begin.

This isn't anything personal on you Flagg, as made evident in the PM, just my feelings right now especially with regards what the PM discussed. I'd love to be a part of this, I just need to know you don't mean to take it down the same road.

wtf mahz.

I PM'd Mahz already regards something, but I felt the need to post here also.

>Hank nowhere to be seen for ages.
>Posts as above.
>Mahz appears.

I sense a conspiracy theory.

Edit:
>What is this sweet new formatting feature?

It's no doubt been discussed at length before, but I still lament the death of the News. It added a sense of community which I feel is somewhat lacking in the Guild right now.

Also, @Terminal asked me to very politely inquire as to the status of the prizes of their "Twelve Labours" contest, with a view to keep the contest running smoothly.

On a personal note, I think I may resume the unofficially made and then unofficially unmade role of welcoming new players. There seems to be a huge number of new members recently and the forum is as in-depth as it's ever been.

I'd highly recommend assessing the anti-bot measures in place. A lot seem to have been telling me about kitchen deals as of late.

I do really wonder though, with memory being the number one recurring issue as far as I see, how feasible would attempts at future proofing be? I.e. migrating to a server well beyond the immediate needs? I'd assume it is out of budget?

I'd also like to once again commend the inclusion of the community in the iterative design process!

Perhaps it's just a changing of the guard but I am personally of the opinion that many of the 'faces' of the guild, good and bad, have drifted off. I'd love to do something to help foster the sense of community spirit as lame as that sounds.
In no order and with no explanation, Because to explain I'd need a full post per movie:

Drive
LOTR Fellowship
Pulp fiction
Goodfellas
Princess Mononoke
Wall-e
Anchorman
2001: A Space Odyssey
The Dark Knight
Mad Max

We haven't had much mutual contact over the years, but in my time here I knew you were a respected member. So long, and enjoy life!
