Jin Kani"Feel the sting of the honorable crab, the Fabulous Jin Kani!"
_______________________________________________
Though not as enthusiastically as Jin would have hoped, the round of applause given to Bohi-sensei was suitably adequate to the majestic crab who nodded sagely once the clapping had died down. It was no good putting off surmising who had found themselves touched by his destiny; he'd have to look. Jin sniffed. It was almost an indignity. He felt that what would have been more suitable was if those classmates graced with sharing a team with such a fated crustaceus warrior such as Jin should find him. But he knew he couldn't count on that. After all, Jin had an aura that would surely make weaker men faint at his feet. It was too much of a risk and Jin was gracious.

Bohi-sensei's impeccable writing made it easy to find his team (which turned out to be Team 4) on the blackboard. The first name was no surprise and Jin could have guessed it without even looking. Hiro Hyuuga was, after all, the hokage's son and would, therefore, require the sort of protection that only one such as Jin could provide. Before venturing to read the next name, he looked about the room for the Hyuuga only to find him glaring at Jin, his white eyes focused and his mouth bearing only the barest hint of displeasure. Something about the look almost gave Jin the impression that Hyuuga-san was less than happy to be on the same team as the Magnificent Shelled Shinobi, but that was unthinkable. It seemed that Jin was misinterpreting for surely the son of the Hokage was suffering from performance anxiety. To be on the same team as a born hero like Jin was sure to be daunting. No... the look wasn't disappointment, it was determination. Already the Incredible Kani was inspiring him. In fact, after several seconds of held eye-contact, Hyuuga-san got up and left... walked right out of the classroom. Probably to try to train, he was likely years behind.

He returned his eyes to the board where he came across the second name: Misaki Mori. She was a Suna exchange student, a beauty with a bad attitude who had once challenged Jin to a fight. He'd laughed it off, of course. It was an amusing pick up line for a girl that Jin suspected was actually quite shy. But Jin would never fight a woman. That wouldn't be honorable. He was no beater of women! But it was at that moment that he'd also decided that he would defend her honor to the day she died, and he'd pledged himself so. She was so embarrassed... she even tried to insult him. But a lover's barbs, once you knew that they were a lover's barbs, could smell so sweet. Yes, she would challenge him but once more and even kicked him square in the face, a true test of his convictions... But not even that could remove his cool smile. He didn't even put up a hand to block. Why, she was too shy to even approach him after that. After an awed "What's wrong with your brain", she admired only from afar. It was true that there were far too many beautiful women in the world for Jin to be married right now, but... How could he break her heart?

Perhaps only the dream would sustain her...

But where was Mori-san now? Had she already left? It seemed that in the time that Jin had been holding long and sustained manly eye contact with Hyuuga-san, Misaki had slipped out. Poor thing... She was probably in the powder room making herself more beautiful. Jin stood, pushed his sunglasses up, and made a cool pose before he swept his scarf over his shoulder and turned to leave.

He didn't have to search long. Misaki was just across from the entrance to the academy and was currently... HAVING HER LEG PUSHED OVER HER HEAD BY THAT KARATA RASHIKU!

"MOLESTER", yelled Jin stomping towards Rashiku, fist held in front of him like he was squeezing a heart in his hand, "SO! I see the situation plainly! Now that you're no longer under the expert tutelage of Bohi-sensei, you've decided to set upon young girls, have you?!? Mori-san, Hyuuga-san, how far has he... gotten?!?"

He grit his teeth and looked from Mori Misaki to Hyuuga Kiyoshi. He had never noticed Kiyoshi much before. She was a solitary girl, and the two had little reason to interact, but today she had become a woman and that meant that she was under Jin's protection. THIS WAS THE VOW OF A KANI MAN!
Yosh! We're just quasi-posting/prepping.

Misaki Mori"Challenging me? Really? You must really like getting crushed underfoot."

"Are you Ami Uzumaki?"

Misaki's eyes leveled with the snowy-haired boy that had made such a silly mistake. The boy was named Karata Rashiku. Misaki had heard he was a refugee from the Mist. He was newer than she was, had only been here for the last year and mostly kept to himself which explained his not knowing who she was. Misaki hadn't the heart to be annoyed at the poor lost creature and smirked at him... besides, he'd noticed her best weapons and was wary of them. Smart. He was with a Hyuuga, not the Hiro who she wished to fight but one who, as far as she knew, specialized in medicine: Kiyoshi Hyuuga. Considering her own assigned team, this could have been a godsend. After all, she'd make a much better third than Ami and both of them had to be better than... than...

"Sorry. I'm not Uzumaki-kohai. But...", she explained, "how about you take me instead? Uzumaki-kohai's nice but she'd just slow you down in combat."

She kicked her foot straight up, holding her legs at a 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock position and then bending her knee and circling her foot clockwise slowly around Rashiku's face.

"I don't slow down on or off the battle field", she insisted and crossed her arms giving them both what she considered to be a challenging look. She was sure that if she got them on board for the change, she could convince whoever was in charge of the teams that a team transfer was for the best. It was probably just a mistake that she was placed on his team, anyway. It was a disgrace to put her with someone like Kani. The loud-mouthed rock-headed ninja who wouldn't even put up his fists and fight her when challenged was basically a liability. No wonder he was on a team with Hiro and Misaki - he'd need both of them just to keep from being killed! How he'd even graduated was a mystery, he had the brains of his clan namesake the crab.

Please please please say yes, Rashiku...

.:Seiji Hyuuga:.

"All ways lead to death.
The way is in death.
Some ways are quicker."

"Your team is receiving their assignment right now", Seiji replied looking over clasped hands. He kept his gaze on the young Mekakushi's eyes, as if searching for something. After a moment more, his brow relaxed and his hands fell to his lap; if he'd found what he was looking for was unclear.

"More and more missing-nin attacks are forming all along the North-Eastern corridor, but predicting your movement is unusual and new. We will be sending a team to investigate how they discovered your mission", he finished a little grimly. In truth, Seiji had theorized that the rise in attacks along that region was the work of Kumogakure likely working in concert with the small ninja village that reports read to be Otogakure in the Land of Sound. It was troubling, but unimportant. The thought that troubled him now was that someone had painted a target on Mekakushi-san's back. Was it intentional or incidental? If he put his mind to it, Seiji could foresee several potential benefits for one to kill Mekakushi-san, especially at this moment, but they all pointed to a conclusion that he was reluctant to reach.

"Each member of your team is unique. Your files on them should give you enough detail to begin their training. It is my wish that you should respond dynamically to them as they grow. I am aware that this is your first team. Your enthusiasm will be useful to you, if you can cultivate it."

Arrogant, belligerent, and focused on one thing: beating the best and claiming the title for herself. She is clever and caustic and will often do or say just about anything to bait the person she wants to fight into fighting her, denying any refusal to fight and taking any challenger. In school, this meant she was a bit of a bully and would often terrorize her classmates, if she thought that they were worthy of fighting, though the few people that she talked to outside of a fighting context might have noted that while impatient, she is generally thoughtful, if critical. She has little to no knowledge or skill in areas that aren't immediately practical, such as romance/dancing/fiction/or even the rules of most sports that aren't somewhat fighting related. She also has a difficult time making and keeping friends and she claims this doesn't bother her.

Misaki was born in Sunagakure, the child of an architect (her father) and a real estate mogul (her mother) and had no plans to become a ninja, initially. Her family was both wealthy and respected and Misaki was very bright, and so she was accepted into and learning at one of the best schools in the country. Back then, she was a shy and timid thing, scared of the world outside of her home and outside of her few friends and social group. Averse to exercise, and prone to fainting, it was probably better that way.

Unfortunately, when she was old enough that some of the children her own age could enter the ninja academy, some of the more spiteful ones began to push around the kids from her school. She became a particularly rich target for bullying, due to her helplessness and general timidity. Her parents hired her a bodyguard for a while, and she spent her days hiding behind the leg of the rather large man assigned to protect the rather small child... but this precaution backfired. Instead of protecting her from the ire of the ninja academy students, she drew the ire of her classmates, who now viewed her bodyguard as an unwelcome incursion into their territory.

And besides... it made them all look like scaredy-cats.

She begged her parents to fire the bodyguard, and they acquiesced, but it did not stop the kids from pushing her around. Now, with nowhere to go, she found herself a victim wherever she went, whether it was school or walking through town. She stopped going out, she stayed home, she developed a terrible chronic cough, her fainting became much worse. Doctors were called. She was pronounced as having weak lungs and possibly being anemic. Her parents brought in tutors and she learned from home.

But one day, when she was feeling particularly strong, she ventured outside, at her parents' insistence. Concerned at how afraid their child was growing, they had decided to take steps to gradually bring her back to the world. Today, she'd be going to the candy shop to get some tasty treats for herself, a little reward for being so brave... and when she got back, there'd be an even bigger surprise waiting for her... But alas, that wasn't to be. While coming merrily back home, carrying a big back of candy, she was confronted by a group of academy kids.

"What's in the bag", they asked her.

"N-nothing... I-its a gift... for me...", she replied.

Apparently, that was the wrong answer. They snatched the bag from her and kicked her to the ground, intending to do far worse, apparently, but they were stopped by a woman with two scimitars on her back. Not intimidated so easily, the foolish kids attempted to assault the woman, who very easily put them on the ground, without hurting them, and then spanked them for good measure.

"Didn't your mother teach you any manners", she yelled at them, as they ran, "Don't go attacking little girls", she turned then to the fallen Misaki and reached out a hand, "You okay kid? You can't let people like that push you around."

Misaki couldn't stop staring at the woman. She was beautiful and strong and confident... nothing like her at all... she took her hand and got to her feet. For some reason, the woman was looking her up and down. She seemed to be analyzing her.

"The name's Lola. Lola Shigetsu. Master swordswoman. This kind of thing happen often? Eh, you don't got to answer that. But, you know... you got some good legs."

Misaki blushed and looked down, shaking her head vigorously. What could this woman possibly mean by that?

"No, I mean it. With a little training... I'll bet you could put those to good use."

Misaki blushed harder, turning a very bright red, which this Lola person seemed to find hilarious. She wouldn't stop chuckling.

"Alright, alright, you've convinced me. I'm gonna make you my personal project, how about it? Want to learn from the best?"

Was she serious? What was going on? And what was that flier she was waiving about? Martial arts school? None of this made any sense! Misaki looked up shakily and said, "M-m-my n-n-name is..."

And then promptly feinted.

When she finally came to, she was somewhere unfamiliar and surrounded by Suna ninja. She could hear her parents yelling at someone... who appeared to be that Lola person... who was yelling right back... was this a dream?

"Look! I didn't kidnap your daughter! She feinted 'n I had no idea who she was so I took her home 'ntil she woke up! Hey! Look! She's waking up! Tell 'em, girl!"

All eyes fell on Misaki...

"I...I...I...", but she feinted again.

Luckily, when she came to this time, she was at home, surrounded by her parents who were very concerned with her well-being. They asked her what happened and she told them as best she could, eventually convincing her parents not to press charges against Lola, though they did have a few choice things to say about her... and they were convinced that trying to make Misaki leave the house had been a very bad idea. Misaki, however, had other ideas.

"I-I...I want to learn from Miss Shigetsu", she whimpered at them. They were taken aback. Their daughter... learn from such a crass and antagonizing person?

"I... don't want to be inside anymore... I don't w-want to be scared... I... Please? Please?"

She had never asked for such a thing before, and her parents, after much deliberation and arguing, eventually agreed on a trial basis. The trial basis was a resounding success.

Though it was very difficult, within a month, their daughter was a completely different person, every day more vivacious and energetic, more confident... she'd stopped fainting, the color had come back to her face... She was even able to return to school again. And this time, when the other kids attempted to push her around, she pushed back. Actually, she started pushing back hard... maybe a little too hard. Actually, the other kids were beginning to become afraid of her and the teachers were starting to notice.

Luckily, before any of this could come to a head and before little Misaki could be blamed, Lola told her to go to the ninja academy and "kick ass". Misaki proceeded to do just that. After quite a bit of begging on her part, and then a month of sneaking off, despite her parents' initial denial, she was eventually allowed to go to the Ninja Academy, where she proceeded to pick fights with anyone she felt was worthy of fighting. It wasn't long before she got a bad reputation and, while her school work was always impeccable, her attitude and her abrasive behavior made her difficult to get along with. For her graduating year, Lola suggested she enter the exchange program with Konoha, where she carved out a reputation for herself in much the same way that she had in Suna... but far from the life she once knew.

Reeling Flower Technique: This is Misaki's signature fighting style. It is primarily made up of chained kicks with a few palm techniques and comes in two styles, the offensive Sun Blossom, and the countering Moon Blossom. It is a style that she devised herself, with the help of her sensei, and is an unarmed adaptation of her sensei's double scimitar fighting style but is also expanded upon, and trimmed as needed. A very fast and aggressive style, the Reeling Flower utilizes lightning quick footwork and blindingly fast kicks mixed with distracting and stunning assaults from the hands and fast distance changes. It is usually performed with lightning chakra channeled into the attacks for a variety of effects.

-Static Charge- Most of the time, this is what Misaki relies on. Throughout the arc of her attack, she generates a static charge, which discharges when it strikes or is blocked, creating a small electrical blast. If the opponent evades, the charge remains and builds on the next attack, allowing her to deliver a much more devastating blow, once an opponent is finally forced to take the hit or block. While it does not take a lot of chakra, it requires chakra to maintain. With her current level, she utilizes it mostly for singular power attacks.

-Sun Blossom Style-
The first style Misaki developed. It is offensively oriented and aimed at overwhelming the opponent quickly. Most of the moves work in chains and combinations and most of the techniques are circular and rotational.
✦ Poppies Arranged in a Row: Misaki throws a series of spinning kicks in a row to overwhelm the opponent's defenses, occasionally reversing direction to throw the opponent off balance. Once the revolution of kicks has started, it is difficult to defend against.
✦ Daisy Chain: A series of roundhouse kicks performed at high speeds at all available targets with the same leg. This flurry of attacks is often used as a finishing move, once an enemy's defenses have been lowered.

-Moon Blossom Style-
The second style Misaki developed to cover the holes of the Sun Blossom Style. It is focused on evasion and countering, often using an opponents force against them. This style contains more straight kicks, short kicks, and jams.
✦Trimming the Flower Heads: A well-timed kick that attacks the vulnerable part of an attacking limb with a fast round kick. It utilizes the shin to, for example, damage an opponents tricep during a punch or sword thrust or an opponent's thigh during a kick. This is often performed in a series to counter a combination.
✦Dance of the Lily: A sidestep turned into a stop-kick aimed at the ankles and knees of the opponent. It is particularly effective against an advancing or kicking opponent.

She uses her legs, which are slim and strong, sort of light colored, like the rest of her. They are long and flexible, trained to move quickly and agilely. They are human legs with no special properties and, as such are subject to the same strengths and limitations. She occasionally uses a standard kunai for defense. She carries standard ninja gear, otherwise.

✖ ‖ F i g h t i n g S t y l e
Her fighting style is agile and based around high-speed kicks and figuring out her opponent. She's a thoughtful fighter who quickly adapts to situations that are presented to her, despite the apparent aggressive nature of her assaults. She's aware of some of her physical stamina problems and, though largely mitigated by training, makes her loathe to overextend herself. She is, nevertheless, tenacious.

Tch! So now it was over. That idiot Jin was clapping like a maniac and some others had joined in to honor their sensei. Misaki supposed that she should too, but then she'd be following the lead of a moron and the idea made her ill-tempered. But she couldn't well do nothing either. She respected Bohi-sensei a little. It was a hard-won respect and certainly nothing like the respect she held for her real sensei, but Bohi-sensei wasn't... as bad as she could have ended up being. Misaki nodded her head to show her own approval, though even that left a bad taste in her mouth.

Judging from the frightened expression and the way she hopped back and readied a pencil to toss, Bohi-sensei seemed caught off guard by the sudden applause. But as it wore on, her countenance relaxed into something like a pack of noodles wrapped very tightly, only bright red. And then, with a sigh of acquiescence, she bowed to her class. After a few moments, the applause ended and she straightened up again.

"N-now! I'll be at my desk if you have any questions", she said and returned to arranging her many many paperclips.

Well, Misaki wasn't going to waste any time sitting around staring at the board. She got up and grabbed her schedule from Bohi-sensei's desk before leaving. There was nothing that said that she had to stay there and she had other plans. Over the course of the one year she'd been in Konoha, she'd picked fights with just about everyone that was worth fighting except a few and now seemed the best time. She wasn't likely to get another chance any time soon and she'd have hated to have graduated with loose ends... She waited under a tree facing the door to the classroom and sunk on to her butt. She had a list of names. As soon as they came out, she'd be ready for them.

Since everyone else was taking their time, she figured now was as good a time as any to take a look at her schedule and see just who would be on her team. She flipped through the papers, among them a handwritten congratulations from the Hokage, some administrative stuff relating to her exchange student status... and... there it was... The team.

First was her jounin, Kamoji. Just Kamoji. No last name. What sort of person had one name? And what kind of person's name translated to Duck Boy? Maybe it was a code name. The ANBU wore animal masks, maybe it was that...

Second was Hyuuga Hiro. And that was perfect. He was one of the few people that she hadn't yet fought, and not for lack of trying! She'd tried to goad him into fighting multiple times. His response was almost always to bow and say something goofy like "The Leaf and the Sand should have good relations" and then to walk away. It really was infuriating. Now there was no way to avoid it. She'd beat a famed Hyuuga... and she'd write to Lola-sama and tell her all about it! She'd be really impressed! Lola-sama would have to acknowledge how strong she was, then and probably she'd even ask for her to come back! After all, the only reason she was even here was because Lola-sama had suggested it... f-for learning purposes! But if she beat a Hyuuga, she'd definitely see that there was nothing that the Leaf could teach her and she may as well come home so she could train her personally again!

Misaki blushed and vigorously shook the embarrassing thoughts away.

She was the third name listed and under hers was...

...she had to look again...

...

...No. She'd read it right...

Jin.

She defiantly crossed her arms and held her breath, her cheeks inflated with air until she got light headed and nearly fainted.

Hideo Sarutobi"Compromise is a lie told to abdicate duty."
_______________________________________________
Emerging from the nearby trees, a man in a baboon ANBU mask approached the congregated shinobi at the village gates. On his back, he carried an omi yari and on his belt, he carried a short blade, perhaps a tanto or a dagger. He held one hand behind his back and another swung freely by his side. He gave an anemic wave as he came closer, which turned into a fist and then fell limply again.

"I have found you", he stated plainly to all involved, "You will be divided into team Ichika and Team Mizuraki. I have heard Ichika has her team prepared. Mizuraki is less competent. I hope that she does not rely on her natural talent instead of tactics. My first impression of her is poor."

He used no honorifics.

"I believe that honesty fosters trust. It is important for the genin to know whether they are on the more or less competent team so that they can make up for their leader's mistakes and missteps", he continued. He then paused, "Forgive me. My name is Hideo. I have been asked to act as representative and overseer for the council for this mission."

And it was only then that he used his free hand to remove his mask. Underneath was a surprisingly warm and open smile, "It is a pleasure to work with you."

The smile dropped immediately as his attention went to attaching his mask to his belt, but returned sporadically, flashing when his eyes met another shinobi and was just as warm and open, just as sincere, and gone just as quickly giving way to perhaps a bored expression. It was nondescript.

"The object of this mission is none of your concern. We are meeting a Kumo team at our rendezvous point", he paused and turned briefly to Tenshi and said in a particularly friendly tone, "You'll be pleased to know that your brother-adopted brother- will be among them. In your absence, he's been promoted to jounin and given his own team", and then turned back to the rest of the assembled ninja, "We will be leaving as soon as Mizuraki is able to arrange her team into something capable of following the rest of the group."

Throughout, his hand never left his back, where it gripped his omi yari loosely.
