@Spoopy Scary We're thinking since our characters both live in Spring Town, and Casey having just left his home, gotten onto his bike and readying to ride to places, that we'd have an interaction like my character bumping into him.
Breaker (A nickname she calls herself; a call-sign)

5’0”
Weight:
90 pounds
Home District:
Spring Town, Hedgemount
Appearance

Black

Brown

Chinese and something European
Physical Appearance:
Kannix wishes she had the body of someone who looked like her personality, but we will get back to that later. She sprouted the earliest when she was an infant, showing a steady growth, speeding ahead of her friends and classmates. Soon however, everyone started their exponential growth whilst hers just stopped. Yes, there was the further maturation: the facial definitions, the muscle growth, breasts, slimming down off (most) her baby-fat, but she just remained small.
Her hair is long, naturally wavy, and opts for the bangs that sway to the right of her forehead. Unkempt and shoulder-length or tied to a ponytail, she does either or. Small, hereditarily Asian eyes with an adorable, natural eye-smile, blossom, plump cheeks that don’t seem to get any less plump - she looks like a doll. An interesting doll in that too, because she has a sharp jaw-line that converge to a rounded chin as well as two prominent front teeth that most certainly do not come from her Chinese-mother-side. This also explains her less-than-yellow/peach skin tone, that tall bridge of a nose, and those spindly fingers.
So one can see that no matter what she does - dresses harsh and cool, works out for that slim but toned hourglass figure (curse those baby-fat cheeks), curses a bloody fucking storm - one either accidentally walks into her because one couldn’t see all the way down there, or one excuses Kannix for really trying, and possibly aweing and pinching her cheeks.
Attire:
Her petite frame more often than not necessitates she buys some clothes in the kids’ section but thankfully there are articles that do come in her size. She is not one of those that pushes the boundaries of chic and most desirable, and definitely not one of those that tries to keep up with it. Kannix will wear simple dresses and tiny heels that only underscores her persona of timidness and vulnerability. Her other choice of plain shirt, plaid jacket, and sneakers is no better. Why wear these then? Because mother says so, and insists that her one and only daughter be the light of good in the decrepit neighbourhood of Spring Town.
She has made her public appearance in this many times as a simple girl before, and many locals will note the change as night and day. When not with her old-school mom, she’s donning a culminated mess of rocker/gangster: tattered leggings with high army boots, army jackets, and anything that compliments and is just another shade of black.
Personality
Innate & Outward Personality:
So why the duality? Well, let’s start with the rocker side. Her miniscule size has not stopped her from being known as one of the most belligerent people anyone could meet. “Boyish” does not cut it to describe how much of a roughhouser she can be. Her actions are decisive but impulsive, acting on raw emotion rather than observation and logic. A lot of it is pent up anger issues for being misjudged, underestimated, prejudiced, but it is insecurity that fuels her motivations. It is odd, of course, when the tiny terror is while not boisterous, not one to shy away from taunting and challenging others.
You would see Kannix jumping in literal harm’s way to stop fights and defend her friends and walk away unscathed and proud. Why bother basking in adoration when it seemed she was unstoppable? Slightly hot-headed and not quite the smart mouth but has the bite to match the bark - but when the moments of self control and doubt comes, what really happens inside besides just insecurity of herself?
In being herself, she would realize the damage she has caused only when it’s too late - not the physical, but the social and reputational. She has no real concept of the self, and how others view her really affect her. No she wasn’t just another accident child of a prostitute of a mother, she wasn’t just a reckless bullet that could wreck walls and survive car crashes, but she couldn’t completely be the sweet girl with the dresses and flowers. She can’t handle both worlds even though she tries, even though she is both. Was she to do what she seems to be assigned to be, or to rebel against antagonistic notions? One thing’s for sure, though: she’s not full of herself - let’s just say: half full. That pride of hers crosses over both sides.
Hobbies/Interests: Fidgeting:
While not really a hobby, she has a wide collection of small playthings that keep her hands busy and entertained. They range from a handspinner, to a Rubik’s cube, to a small wrench packed along with those DIY furniture. This ought not to be seen as a nervous tick. Kannix enjoys engaging her hands, keep them busy. She’s one of those that bounces their legs habitually too.
Hoarding for Remembrance:
Kannix enjoys taking small items - tokens - for moments she wants to remember fondly. She sets her memory so that being with that object initiates that recall back to the event “inscribed’ to the totem. Much like her playthings for fidgeting, they are a myriad things from a receipt to a giant souvenir pencil.
Skills/Talents: Blending in and Hiding:
Kannix’s ego might project out to the world like a neon sign, but she is still small and unmenacing. She might be a fighter but she is not a bruiser. She has the smarts to realize when to back away, attack from another angle, wait patiently hidden away in tight spaces, or hide in crowds - not like she towers over everyone, and not like her being half European makes her facial features any more significant or defining than the next mixed Asian in cosmopolitan Baybridge. She’s undoubtedly fast, and being plain-faced and inconspicuous, she is really talented in disappearing out of sight.
Great memory for Location:
Learning to perfect the art of escape and guerilla warfare requires the ability to quickly identify the geographical qualities and formations and leave it to instinct and memory to be able to navigate the area well.. Escape routes, floor material, key landmarks, pathways of minimal and maximal traffic, the smell of that one bakery at the end of the corner - small, useful things that will come to aid anyone that wants to do a quick hit-and-run. Kannix, with an affinity for this sort of thing, seldoms ever gets lost.
Goals/Motivation
Much of her current difficulty is a self fulfilling cycle of inherent doubt and insecurity of who she is supposed to be. Kannix has gone through years of comment, appraisal, advice - not disregarding reprimands, bullying, and rejection - and is wise enough to realize that it is going to take another few years more to really get over it. What does getting over it really mean? What is “it”? Perhaps by doing an act - something, anything - that could change her life and perhaps the lives of others, would do it.
...Which is why she is targeting the White Spider Society.
History/Bio:
Emma Cheng was not that much different from her prospective child; Nth generation Chinese, emigrated from Hong Kong to the older times of Baybridge, part of a family that is a long time local in the area but never stood out to be anything more than general population. The pure Chinese family opened a shop starting a small business selling mediocre handicrafts and sewing tools. They had fabrics and materials coming in from an old friend who had already been in olden Baybridge before them. But he was an old friend in the literal sense and shortly he died, leading to the eventual drop of their hitherto current service and having had to move on to being a small two-floor restaurant selling Chinese cuisines. For a while, it lasted them a long time: the food was good, business attracted regulars and newcomers every other week. It was a modest and simple living.
That was it though. It never moved on to be anything greater. Bills, shortage of food, a catastrophe here and there, and though the restaurant held, it was a stagnant one. Generation after generation of children came to help out, multiple births who would grow up and work in the family business for as long as they could to either get out and be successful, or to stay behind and help out - either way, the Cheng Chinese Cuisines stood the test of time of five decades. Emma Cheng was a product of the eldest daughter of her grandfather, and another ethnic minority long forgotten in the retelling of stories. It was intentional; they never liked him, and they could not believe the shame that was brought to the bloodline by marrying him. Not a bastard child, but a disappointment. Emma grew up to not be the stereotypical shy, booksmart girl that they wanted. Yes she had the family values, and had a brain to reason, but she had her sights set on things other than getting those A’s. She was not exactly outcasted, but she might as well not have existed. Too different, too wild, too lost to be brought back to the traditional, safe ways.
After a few misdeeds and surviving misadventures to tell the tale, Emma grew up to be a fine lady, with all sense of the word “lady” deprived. One night stands, frequent dates, relationships that lasted weeks, she was troubled. It did not help that the father basically left and the mother refused to talk to her. Unsupported, unhoused, she needed a pay to survive. Job after job she slaved her way to pay off her cheap, ramshackle apartment somewhere in White Coast before settling as a waitress. One unsuspecting night and one kidnapping later, she found herself in the prostitution ring amongst The White Spider Society.
She got lost, reported investigators. No one wanted to look for her, and no one bothered. She endured hours into days of the same shit for nearly a year. She was not yet thirty years old. She learnt prejudice from being selected in a lineup. She learnt disgust from unrelenting men. She learnt hatred for herself and her mistakes, and people who would not help, who dared not help. She learnt fear for never knowing what the next day brought.
Enter the prospective father. Mr. Popo had multiple revisits with Emma, and despite her growing distrust for people, Mr. Popo tried to get to know her beyond just the sex later on. It became to be a thing where they would skip the sex - sometimes moan loudly to not betray the guise - and just talk. Why the trust? Mr. Popo took off his mask and revealed himself to be an innocent-faced young Asian man, spry lonely lad who fell in love with Emma.
The night when the two parted after the umpteenthed visit, some men decided to have their way and organize an orgy. Emma was passed around like a rag for these men. Too many to count, too many to remember, no way of knowing which one was the man that conceived her. All she knew was that that group had a bunch of European accents. Fuck them.
When Mr. Popo and Emma met again, she told him her story and Mr. Popo reacted any man would to the woman he loves. He tore the place asunder. A fire broke out. People ran for their lives. Men caught and eliminated Mr. Popo and Emma was presumed not to have escaped the room and died.
9 months later, patches of burns and scars all over her body, and one home pregnancy, Kannix was born.
Emma and Kannix had to settle in Spring Town. The man who had taken care of Emma in the early months to few years died and was the closest thing to a father Kannix would have. It’s unfortunate, though, because Emma never felt thankful or even sorry. She was far too shell-shocked and could not register much except for the love of her daughter. She barely even remembered her being with Mr Popo, memories too far buried with emotional trauma that overwhelms her with guilt and regret. The only thing that came out positive, the only thing that’s preventing her from taking her own life, was that Kannix was her’s, even partially. That was the sole reason for her to change her life around, however she could.
There was not much a future left for Emma. Burnt scars meant a single life in the face of judgmental, superficial people. Her past wasn’t exactly a secret too. She was the thrown-away whore with a child whose father they didn’t even know. She worked low-paying jobs and the future did not at all bode well, but it was something. She worked for the now to keep the baby alive. Kannix would have a terrible upbringing, but it was with labour and love that made Emma work hard, regardless of the laughs, pointing, and rumours.
Years later into her teens, and Emma knew that Kannix was her own. She was one and the same, reminding Emma so much of how she was as at her age. Blossoming into a young adult, albeit small and even more active, Emma’s motherly instincts and past regrets told her to step in and take charge of Kannix’s life. The same thing will not happen again. Decency, being ladylike, not going out at night, private lessons to have a better education and future, all things Emma’s own grandparents and family history were all about, so much so the you could taste the irony. Thus came the identity crisis for Kannix previously mentioned.
One shopping run close to evening and Kannix and her mom were blocked on their way by gangsters hoping to have a bit of banter and fun with playing with the old whore and her mistake. The mother stayed silent and took it all in. She’s heard it all before, but Kannix had not. A punch to the tall leader’s gut, several swear words later, and they moved in to split the two apart. Knife held against Kannix’s throat, but she would not stop struggling. The man pressed hard to impress the knife deeper into her throat but the throat would not give - the knife would not sink into her skin.
“A fucking Metahuman.”
A pistol was drawn, a bullet was fired, and it recoiled back to the gunman’s head.
The group fled and Kannix dragged her mother back to their home. Furious that the men got away, but even more so that the mother would not fight back, she yelled at her own mother. Eventually, the mother - the master - showed the young one how it was done, and cussed a storm to shut her daughter up and know her place. It was different from Kannix hanging out and breaking doors down to steal from the restaurant pantry, different from her jumping rooftop to rooftop and nearly falling off onto a car, different from chasing a man down after a five-block head-start. There are things that hurt more than just cuts, broken bones, gunshot wounds, and strangling.
One retelling of our story, and Kannix’s view of the modern world changed forever.
Relationships
Family: Emma Cheng - Mother
The only family she knows. There must be a ridiculous family tree that Kannix does not know about. Apart from some acquaintances. Emma is trying her best to make sure that Kannix does not turn out the way she did, or worse.
Dynamics:
| Reinald Young |
| Neutral | Acquaintance | "Freak." |
Kannix first met Rein at the DOVE Rally. Though first impressions of each other left much to be desired, the two have impacted each other that will make it hard for one to forget the other. Wonder how much Rein can take of Kannix? New, unannounced friendship with seemingly contrasting personalities, their dynamic is bound to grow into something interesting and explosive.
| Audrey Novalik |
| Neutral | Acquaintance / Boss | "Cancer Gargantua." |
Forced to work to pay her back, Kannix had an ill first regard of Audrey. Though the work is tough, she is thankful for the opportunity, patience, and guidance that Audrey has given her. Perhaps Kannix will learn to be a better person yet under Audrey's tutelage. Perhaps something could come from being their official relationship.
Abilities
Power Class:
Cerebral
Power: Contact-based Vector Manipulation:
Anything physical that touches Kannix, and conversely if Kannix touches anything, she has control over its inherent potential energy and vector. This process works on static, non-moving objects as well, since their magnitude value of 0 still is a vector, travelling through space.
What this means first and most significantly, Kannix is impervious to many things. Thrown objects, fists, and bullets would all recoil back in the opposite direction in equal energy. She has the option to deaden a force as well, stopping completely upon impact. In the off chance that she gets hit by a car, said car will implode in on itself, exploding outwards behind it - though basically putting Kannix out of the count, but more on that in limitations. Good luck on moving her.
Furthermore, her control over her own inherent potential energy allows her to defy normal physics and Kannix can perform feats such as: leaping off of rooftops by propulsion away from the ground; instant acceleration as she dashes away from point of contact on the ground (though with little control), and; walking and crashing through walls as if they were not there.
Limits: Energy and Effort:
This ability is not passive and requires concentration, effort, and energy. Referencing the car crash above, Kannix would survive and the car would implode on itself, but the energy required to save her life would leave her out of the count for more than a day. Kannix would not dare try to face anything bigger head-on. Heavy, fast weapons fire can be withstood but not for too long - only long enough to get out of the firing range or else we would get ashing. Vector-based propulsion is still used but not across vast distances of more than a football field. Kannix could slam into doors, walls, but anything thicker than a meter wide, metal pillar and she could only just make a dent before giving in.
Average Intellect
The ability to manipulate vectors is approaching levels of omnipotence. However, considering that Vectors involves the knowledge of physics and trigonometric mathematics, and since Kannix is not a genius at all in this field - what with limited knowledge and intelligence - her potential to control virtually everything around her is limited. As such, she can only (perhaps for now) react instinctively, guessing with her mind the necessary power to negate vectors such as punches and bullets.
Bravery:
However, nevermind the delimitation of energy usage, the fact of the matter is that Kannix’s potency derives from her self-confidence. The more she believes that she can do something, the stronger the output of her ability becomes, using less energy. If she believes this is a fight she cannot win, there is the obvious ‘flight’ mode to get out. ‘Fight’, however, and she has to be smart on energy usage. Caution is one thing, to realize that the enemy has the upper hand is another.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
Drawbacks:
Anything physical is recoiled and blocked and the damage and pain are nullified. However, it is still pain and her ability can only do so much against the heavier blows. Bullets sting, heavy objects ache, crashing through walls can leave her woozy, and metahuman punches a loss of balance. It’s part ability function, part modus operandi. Over time she has gotten used to the wooziness after breaking room to room, but this drawback to going and facing things head-on warrants enough caution for Kannix to not act so foolishly - holding out any longer, pushing everything back, and you will get ashing affects.
Furthermore, her ability to propel herself off the ground to leap huge distances and her access to instant acceleration for superhuman dashes works principally on her powerset to counteract incoming vectors and energies:
It operates on momentum (so there has to be a bit of a start-up, like a step forward) for velocity and acceleration. If she's standing still, this skill won't take much effect; it's still deadly, but not nearly as fast if she were actually moving.
It's in this momentum that force and energy are gained, so she has her (pseudo-)invincibility here as well, which is why she can break through stuff. This won't last long because of 1) her own physical limits such as stamina, and 2) external limits such as numerous, "difficult" obstacles, and energy loss like gravity and friction.
It's in this momentum that she would have incurred lots of damage received (the feedback of maintaining the shield/ our drawback here). Once momentum is lost (gradual loss or sudden stops), because energy was spent on vector cancellation during momentum stage, her kinetic/potential energy defense (her primary use of power) is lowered for a time. She would need to be very cautious, rest, and resuscitate to regain back her energy
Weaknesses:
This power only works on physical contact. Electricity, fire, light, and many other intangible forces have vectors that can be manipulated but radiation and other forces will still harm the person. Kannix would not, by sane definitions, dare touch any of these forces that she knows could hurt her. She does not have a regenerative healing factor. She is still very much vulnerable to anything that is not physical - and even then, not as much as she’d like.
Other:
Kannix does not recall when her ability manifested. She assumes that because there isn’t a single scar on her - and that to her recollection she does not remember getting hurt - that they started very early. Of course, how child Kannix could have known to work such power, she does not know.
I promise after this next post my posits are going to be more consistent. Finally ah a place where I don't feel like I'm going to be crushed and where I do feel like I have control
Hi guys! Glad to be on board. I do have to say though, to everyone: I live in Hong Kong so right now it's 1:05 am. I will have obvious delays in my responses but I will deliver promptly, short of any life happenstances.
